02/05/2025: We went to bunclody for dinner We got lasagna chips coleslaw E18.95 Homemade burger homemade onion rings and chips E16.95 that's what the menu said The lasagna meat there was none it was covered in half a block of cheese the dish ramecan which the lasagna was served in was half full the lasagna was non existent flat the chips were skinny frozen chips The burger served with what was called on menu home made onion rings where the finest frozen onion rings I ever seen disgusting the chips again skinny frozen chips The cost was E38 In this day and age and the cost of living crisis it’s an absolute disgrace that food is being served of this poor quality charged at Gastro pub price s We wanted to sit enjoy a nice meal and chat We were absolutely disgusted that we went here to know we could have went to Mick the chipper down the road and be served top quality chips and burgers at prices that match them School dinner s are of better quality your chef sending food out like that should be sacked

06/08/2025: We arrived at the gates of this restaurant today 6th Aug to find the gates locked and 2 other cars there as well. The sign said Open but there was no answer when we rang it. V poor indeed. Should have sign saying closed, Also website should say closed! Went to pub called Cookes in Canagh on Athy Rd and had a delicious lunch!

13/07/2025: I was in the restaurant on Saturday 12th July with friends all was great until the waitresses left around 1.30 we were getting served by a lovely young lady but then the girls disappeared and only two men left .restaurant got busy and not enough waitress|waiters on ..food was amazing but need more staff

09/04/2025: Delicious. Ate every bite. Such a lovely spot and staff so friendly and helpful..great range of artisanal food and drinks to takeaway. Delicious chocolate

20/03/2025: Have visited here 3 times over the past 6 months. Delicious eat-in curry each time. Now my go-to place when I hit Castleisland. Next time will post pic.

03/11/2024: We visited apparently on the last weekday they would be open for the year, and weekday service will continue in January. We got lucky! As you arrive at the Trump International Golf Resort you are warmly received by a finely dressed gentleman at the gate house. He called ahead and announced our arrival for lunch, gave us directions, instructed us where to park. The staff of the bar and restaurant were waiting for us, menus in hand. They were preparing for Halloween and there were lovely arrangements of pumpkins. We were seated at a corner table that had two windows on each side that allowed for a wonderful view of the ocean, beach and a part of the golf course. Started the lunch with drinks, the men had Guinness, and I had what I considered the best Bloody Mary made from fresh ingredients and not a mix. I chose the Salt and Chili calamari, which was on a salad/slaw which was tangy delicious. My husband had the shrimp tacos. Being from Texas we are usually very skeptical of any taco in another country, but this did not disappoint. I stole a few bites, as well as a few of the most perfect French fries which were crispy goodness. The staff were absolutely perfect, the ambiance was elevated Irish pub with a seaside twist. I am very glad we took the chance and drove the hour from the Shannon Airport area. After lunch we strolled the beautiful beach! We had the beach to ourselves which was extra special. From the beach as you look out at the water you can see the Cliffs of Moher. If you had all day, you could visit the cliffs and the Trump Bar & Restaurant. Next time we visit, I would like to spend a night or two at the resort. But for a daytime visit you really cannot ask for anything more!

24/08/2024: Popped in for a drink as we were staying nearby. Beautiful setting, nice bar/restaurant area. Lovely staff, friendly & very efficient.

01/08/2025: After our tour of hook lighthouse we had coffee and iced cake. The service was friendly and clean and not expensive . Very refreshing to relax.

31/07/2025: Oh my good lord - the chowder. We came as a group of friends, did the tour and stopped for lunch. Between us we had the chowder, fish and chips and the open face prise sandwiches. Chowder - thick, packed with prawns, chunks of potato and fish. So flavoursome. Fish and chips - to quote my friend, “Oh my God, how do they get the batter so light and crispy and the fish so moist?” Open face prawn sandwich - piled high, lovely brown bread. I’m gluten free and the bread that came with the chowder was so good I had to check that it was definitely gf. Genuinely not had a gf bread so good in years since the epic gf restaurant in Pisa. And we lucked out on the weather. Sunshine and soft breezes.

03/06/2025: A woman behind counter serving customer whilst banging and slamming bins shut, and cursing under her breath. I was with my little girl and the two of us were so scared that it was our turn next that we turned on our heels. She then said ARE YOU OK... so I told her I definately was not ok with her cursing in front of my child. Totally unacceptable. Everyone has bad days at work but try to conceal it next time maybe.

21/08/2025: WE VISITED THE WHITE HORSES RESTAURANT IN ARDMORE RECENTLY FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION AND WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH OUR EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH. THE STAFF WERE VERY CURT AND DISMISSIVE TO US AND OTHER CUSTOMERS CAME TO OUR TABLE ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS WHILE WE WERE EATING AND MOVED CUTLERY AND GLASSES. NOT AN "EXCUSE ME" OR A WORD OF APOLOGY. THIS HAPPENED ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS QUITE RUDE REALLY. WE HAD A WAY OVER PRICED MEAL AND ON PAYMENT AS WE WERE LEAVING NOT" A DID YOU ENJOY YOUR MEAL " OR A "THANK YOU".¹ RUDE AND CURT. WE WILL NEVER RETURN HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY. A VERY BAD AND EXPENSIVE MISTAKE.

27/07/2025: Below average experience. The food is ok. Portion size is absolutely terrible. Been here a few times but the last time was the final straw. Came here one day when it was busy, was just popping in with 3 friends to get a pint and be ok our way. There was a few people looking for seats so I approached the bar and asked the guy (mid 40’s?) about just sitting at the bar for a pint and he was absolutely foul mannered. He said “why don’t you join the queue like everyone else trying to get a table in here” I love locally and this bar/restaurant is quite close to me, many occasions I choose to go elsewhere for food and drinks. In this day and age that behaviour is unacceptable That episode, along with the overpriced menu and small food portion sizes and that barman’s behaviour ultimately made my decision on the palace. Couple weeks later “the shack” came up in conversation with different friends suggesting places to eat; I shut it down. Funnily enough one of the people in the group said that they ordered food weeks earlier and the same guy was intimidating to her because she didn’t eat her food and was pushing for answers, she was hungover and explained nothing was wrong with it. Won’t be returning, and I’ll be telling others the same story.

18/07/2025: Great atmosphere, delicious food, great drinks, and friendly personable service. Wife and I visited Athlone from the UK and were so glad we came here for lunch, highly recommend.

09/07/2025: Really nice pub, good look and feel about the place. Friendly helpful staff and the beer is really good, great pint when in the area.

24/05/2025: Plenty of friendly staff in a busy eatery. Hot food ought to be on a hot plate, my chips were cold and my hamburger overdone and the dearest price I have ever paid for a burger in Europe. Onions rings lovely. But overall impression, not interested, just dish it out. Had I been on my own I would have walked out.
