21/09/2026: Didn't have any food while visiting, so can't speak to that. Atmosphere is 10/10, heavy rock playing all night. Service was great, was in a side room and didn't have to go to the main bar to order. Not busy, seems like a bar tourists haven't found.

20/09/2026: In 2026 it is totally unacceptable for a restaurant to take your order without explaining in advance that they are so busy, your food will arrive over one hour later. Very inconsiderate, poorly managed service, seemingly only focused on the money grab rather than customer service.

11/09/2026: We had an wonderful experience of the 11 course tasting menu. The space is small but well designed and the food was truly excellent. We had been at Michelin star restaurants the two days previously and Mara definitely held its own against these in terms of the food. Interesting use of seafood and local produce. The tasting menu gave great value for money, I was struggling for room by the end! Service was friendly (appreciated the glass of fizz on learning it was our honeymoon) and we hope to be back!

25/08/2026: We had an outstanding meal at the this wonderful gem of a restaurant in Waterford. The food, the service , the understated decor allow the food to be the centre of the show where it should be. It is so wonderful I want to keep it a secret but that would be unfair. I highly recommend you visit and experience this wonderful restaurant. Catherine

20/06/2026: A cook or chef should know the difference between Cajun chicken and blackened chicken (Google it), but I ordered the later and my partner ordered the former, and the chicken looked the same. Mine was also dry and I had to add mayo to it just to make it palatable. The battered jalapenos were much better. As for atmosphere - too much noise. I should have sent it back before starting on it but I too... chicken...

09/08/2026: We had breakfast here this morning , a gorgeous cafe in the centre of Rathdrum. We arrived at maybe 11am and it was super busy , the lady told us we could sit outside but to expect a wait as many people had arrived at once . We only had to wait about 10 mins and our order was taken. The food followed quickly after . The menu is limited as in it really specializes in a fry or breakfast roll. I got the workman's which was huge , it came with toast and tea or coffee for 15 quid . I was stuffed all day . The Sausages were the nicest I've had in a while and I appreciate the fact that you get more than just a spoonful a beans . Girl serving us was super nice and we were really well looked after . I'll definitely be back.

07/09/2026: If you looking for a nice restaurant/bar..Quays is definitely the right place to stay with the family and friends. Nice atmosphere,sea views, comfortable and fast service. Food is very good and friendly staff. Plenty car park including for buses and caravans.

07/10/2026: Extremely bad food was served. Terrible customer service and some rude staff. Our chicken panini which was actually a roll had no sauce and was so dry. Chicken was not cooked in a sauce or seasoning instead a hefty amount of seasoning was fired on just before serving. The price for what was served was extremely insulting. This experience really put us off the town of Portarlington. This is probably one of the worst food experiences I’ve ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!

11/07/2026: came in to hang with my friends as a semi regular, encountered a new guy, his name is Phillip, soundest fella all around, drinks came soso fast, great chats, everything. very respectful kind guy. come into tps 100% overall just super sound awesome staff here
