17/05/2025: The food on offer was excellent. Service was fast and efficient. The staff were friendly and helpful. Really great experience by all six of us.
15/05/2025: We recently celebrated our son's christening day at JP Clarkes. We had a mix of adults and both children and babies for the meal. A set menu with plenty of choice and within our budget was provided to us. Absolutely everyone was catered for and the food as well as the staff were fantastic.

17/05/2025: I am so disappointed because I was looking for food on the 17 of May it was two entrances so I was waiting to be seated and there was about five waiters that were free and none of them acknowledged my existence and other Irish came in with a child. They serviced them wash the guy taking them to the table. Give them the money order and literally just passed part of this is the worst customer service ever you guys need to get your shit together🚮🚮🚮

The starter for 2 was delicious, the ‘spice box’ amazing and the main course fantastic! Large portions throughout, would highly recommend!
20/01/2025: Best spice bag in Ireland, they actually put spices in it. Food is amazing and also cheaper and larger portions than other places in Kilrush. Best takeaway I have ever been to and I've lived in 3 different countries.

28/10/2024: Extremely rude snotty barmaid and unfriendly regulars. Visiting the area as tourist and needed to use restroom. Irish hospitality is truly dead. Tourists don't bother going in.
27/10/2024: Great wee pub, great craic with the locals, great pints! (Having two dogs in the bar is always a good conversation opener.) The job of a landlady isn’t always easy but she seems to keep a good house. A very enjoyable few hours.

15/03/2025: Came here in March. Very understated. I had prawns to start and John Dory for main. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and piping hot. Good sized portion and you leave well fed. Lovely fire on and the pints looked good. Nothing fancy just straight up good food.
03/01/2025: Food was wonderful and to find a dog friendly apartment on the premises was literally heaven. Great seafood and Guinness

28/04/2025: This place was absolutely hopping when we arrived. Very popular with millennial and particularly hens and stag parties. It appears that they start at the farthest point and work their way in.

16/10/2024: Extremely charming inn with an amazing breakfast and lovely garden (though we stayed a little off season for it). Well located to explore the Burren.

05/05/2025: We had dinner here and unfortunately we didn't have a great experience. We ordered 2 starters and 2 main courses and they were all brought to the table at the same time. The waitress looked at us very confused when we mentioned that two of the dishes were starters (as mentioned on their menu). Anyway, chicken wings and mussels were nice. The seafood risotto had a nice flavour, fish was fresh but the risotto was very overcooked. The batter on my husband's fish and chips was soggy and had a strange yellow colour which had transferred to the fish. He took one bite and left the rest. Staff not friendly or attentive. Never came down to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything else.

27/05/2025: Pros: people were nice, restaurant was decent and they had live music on occasion; beds were comfy and rooms were clean.
Cons: This is a much older hotel than the pictures convey—stained and worn carpets, cracks in the bathroom tiles/grout, and the walls are thin — we could hear our neighbors urinate regularly. Be aware that Balleyvaughan is in the middle of nowhere with very little public transport available. But there are some good restaurants: Monks and The Soda Shop in particular.
