28/09/2024: Excellent atmosphere, surroundings, decor and food. Excellent staff and service. Excellent menu and minimum waiting. Will definitely return.

24/09/2024: The ultimate way you judge a restaurant is with it's food. Drove an hour on a tip. Food was just incredible and the chefs deserve as much praise as possible. Starter, Main, dessert were as good as each other. I didn't talk enough to my wife though because I couldn't stop enjoying the food. Still thinking about the Dahl.

12/02/2025: Beautiful estate and landscape with trails and James Turrell Sky Garden. The chef at the restaurant worked without prior notice to give us exceptional vegan options and also accommodating my food allergies. Wonderful library. We will return.

10/02/2025: We had a very relaxing stay, thanks to the hotel’s limited number of rooms, which made for a peaceful atmosphere. The open fire in the evening was a lovely touch, adding to the cozy ambiance. Our room was modern and well-equipped, complete with a Nespresso coffee machine. However, there was an unpleasant smell in the room, which may have been due to animals being allowed to stay there. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay, which made a big difference. However, dining options were quite limited. The only available choice was the restaurant menu, which doesn’t cater to all needs. For example, after a late lunch one day, we wanted a small bite in the evening but found there was no bar menu—only the full restaurant menu, which is quite expensive for the portion sizes. Given that there are also limited dining options locally in Skibbereen town, it would be helpful if the hotel offered a more flexible bar menu. That said, the hotel’s grounds are beautifully maintained, with lovely walking trails that add to the charm of the location. Overall, it’s a great place to unwind, with excellent service, but a few improvements in dining options and room freshness would make the experience even better.

07/01/2025: Had the children's party there, they have a good place, clean and with good options for food and the trip at the train around the farm to see the animals we're the cherry on top.

12/03/2025: Called in @ 13.55 on my lunch break ordered a dinner box, told it would be 12 minutes, no time to wait as I have a short break, seriously no chicken @ lunchtime 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

13/10/2024: I came across the Fish Basket during a cycle ride along the stunning West Cork coastline. I chose the fish taco special which was delicious and crispy and served with a very generous portion of chips. It was a sunny day, and the outdoor seating overlooking the beach and the dunes was fantastic

10/08/2024: Unfortunately this place is permanently closed. I used to come here a couple of times a year for dinner and the place was always impeccable clean with very professional and friendly staff. The food was always excellent with large portions. The price of the food was always reasonable. The atmosphere was always elegant, peaceful and almost therapeutic. It had the perfect combination of everything. It was very disappointing to find out today that it was permanently closed and soon to be filled with refugees.
