25/06/2026: Fabulous food last night - a classic cork Food institution- great staff and great food 👍

01/06/2026: Quite place with great view. Friendly staff, breakfast included ( Irish breakfast or Scramble with salmon only in menu ), free parking across the road. Clean room but really small, feels like a hostel with double bed and single bed placed in few square metres .breakfast was really tasty, dinner was ok, nothing special, and bit overpriced.

26/10/2025: Have been there a couple times recently for family events great selection of Malaysian and Asian dishes as well as steaks and seafood service and atmosphere are excellent

09/07/2026: Toastie Cafe is amazing! Everything was incredibly delicious, especially the perfect, crispy toasts. The staff was super pleasant, and the matcha was absolutely sensational. Highly recommend!

06/08/2026: Such a beautiful setting but service and food let this place down. Had my father's birthday here, not once were we approached to ask if we were ok for everything. This place has Such potential its a shame. Owner also asked for a tip as we paid.

28/08/2026: The meal was just ok. It was early in the morning, so perhaps different chefs come in for lunch/dinner. Quiet atmosphere. Service was ok.

22/04/2026: BEST Irish breakfast I’ve ever had! The beans were delicious and creamy, and the hash brown and sausages were perfectly cooked, tasty and juicy. We also tried the soup of the day, which was absolutely amazing. The combination of fresh bread, butter, and soup was incredible. I really wish we had a place like this in my city, I’ll definitely be back soon!

15/03/2026: I phoned in advance to ask whether they had coeliac-friendly options and was told they did. I ordered the gluten-free hamburger. What was served was just the hamburger patty with a few small pieces of bacon — there was no gluten-free bun, sauce, or cheese. Without those, the patty was too rich and dry for me to eat. My husband ordered the same burger but not the gluten-free version, and his came with a brioche bun, sauce, and cheese. As a result, my lunch ended up being shredded lettuce, two slices of tomato, a few small pieces of bacon and fries. Unfortunately, this made for a very disappointing Mother’s Day lunch.

13/07/2026: Absolutely shocking!! Food went to very bad very fast. Eating from here for a year now and one thing about this place - it is inconsistent! Anything from chips to burgers and kebabs or the pizzas you can be lucky or get most disappointing meal ever. My last order was quarter pouder with extra salads, cheese and bacon, extra sauce and this is what i got in a hard dry out bun...and when I complained the cook said "i gave salad" (7 pieces of onion) no sauces just some mayo... this burger was disgusting and manner on the cook was just as bad. Extra english lessons required for this bloke to simply understand what people asked for. Chips were disappointment too , very small portion and soft and soggy. The kebab last week had two strains of red cabbage as a salad...again it was dry and pack with just meat -disappointing.

13/07/2026: Came here a couple of weeks ago after hearing some good things from a friend of ours. Absolutely blown away by the food. Very high quality with great flavours, amazing atmosphere and Victor was an amazing host who was able to accommodate any requests. All the food we had impressed us but have to give a specific mention the cauliflower with peanut ragut in coconut soup. I'm a big meat eater and the lamb I had was very good but the cauliflower was a surprise favourite on the night. Murphy's stout was also one of the best I've had and I finished the meal with an amaretto sour which they happily made for me even though it wasn't on the menu. Highly recommend coming here. Will be back.

20/06/2026: Absolutely fantastic! Can’t beat the diversity in the menu and brilliant drinks. I’ve been here for dinner about 10 times and one day 2 for a wedding. Highly recommend if you haven’t been. We’re very lucky to have this near Cork

18/08/2026: Updating my review. It is now August 2026. I order pizza here I collect. Love this pizza place as I get good pizza for my dietary issues. I am gluten intolerant, allergic to dairy and soya protein. I love their gf bases. I went somewhere else and they use bought in frozen gf bases yuck (sona in cork). Their pizza does me for two dinners. The gluten free base does not have a base with thick crust at the edges like the non gluten free bases but it is delicious I love the bases are thin, crispy. The toppings, you get a generous amount. I do miss the pulled ham that has not been on the menu for a while. The non dairy non soya cheese is nice. I like if I make 10 orders I get a free pizza when I order using their app available on Google Play store. If you are celiac they advice you not to eat the gf pizzas just encase you get any bit of gluten as the kitchen makes food with gluten too. I am gluten intolerant and never had a reaction to their gf pizza base. I usually also order their Belguim cookies, one each for my parents. They come one in a small plastic bag. They are hot, easy to break when I get them so when I get home I put them in the freezer a few minutes, them fridge before my parents eat them.

04/08/2026: Real wood fired pizza just like in italy (im italian) wonderful pizza every ingredient was fresh and really tasty especially the basil wow !!! And a really friendly service !!!

17/05/2026: My first time. I was confused, Lantern evokes Oriental in my mind. I'm not reviewing the name. It's clear this is family and community. 1.best chips I've had in years 2.best fish and batter in along time 3. Chicken and beef burgers are up there. Wow! 4. The service through the hatch from a warm and welcoming young man made me smile. 5. Phone orders are identified by number and exact time of readiness 6. The Lantern is now our weekly LOCAL treat

06/09/2026: Very low quality ingredients, you can tell the owner himself is a bit cheap, sometimes even leaving stale pastries for the morning.

28/05/2026: Clean. Lots of different options for the number of beds in each room. Great view of the bay and cathedral

12/05/2026: Very good accommodation. Nice Chinese restaurant within the hotel. Easy walk to the harbour. Rooms were quite clean and the person on reception is friendly and gives local recommendations. We stayed for two nights and absolutely loved our stay.
