28/10/2025: We had a lovely meal here when visiting for the weekend. The service was great. Waitress and host Irene was very friendly and welcoming. Food was lovely. Really enjoyed it. Atmosphere was nice. They had a man hired to play piano which was a nice touch.

15/09/2025: Had the food emporium do home catering for us for a family party and couldn't fault them, great to deal with and very friendly, food was absolutely amazing and got nothing but compliments from everyone at the party. Delivered on time with complimentary dessert thrown in. Highly recommend for quality, value and excellent service. 5star

09/11/2025: A beautiful old hotel with comfort at its heart. A welcoming, elegant 18th century manor house right in the center of Ennis. Glamorous bedrooms, great food in the Town Hall dining room. Glór and the new library within walking distance and a huge array of shops on the doorstep. Staff welcoming and friendly. It's definitely the top choice in Ennis.

06/11/2025: Rather than staying at Shannon airport the night before our departure, we spent the night at the Old Ground. The Poets Corner was a fabulous place to meet up with all of our relatives for our final goodbyes and an easy drive to the airport in the am.

04/11/2025: Great place tp visit Went on bus trip which bus ride was very nauseating with many turns etc Didn't stay long but worth a visit from galway

09/10/2025: After a long days travel from Dublin this was just what I needed. The waitress was top notch when I asked about the different beers and I tried a local IPA. Service was also superfast and the food came in almost as quick.

23/10/2025: This place is so cool! Felt like I was stepping back in time. Not only is it a very old bar but its cool name is the cherry on top. I got a beer within 2 minutes of walking in at one of the multiple they had on the first floor. Decided I was hungry and wanted a seafood chowder to take away. They unfortunately do not have take away containers for soup, giving it to me in a coffee cup container. That wasn’t really an issue, I’m easy going. What was an issue, they gave my cousin 4 pieces of brown bread and didn’t give me any! I had to ask for the bread, again not a problem to ask but I wanted 4 pieces! Why was he so special! His wife said it’s because he’s cute but idk I think I got the looks not him! The soup is something I’m on the hunt for. Need the best soup. No this was not it. It was good and it made me realize I like mussels but it wasn’t a contender for best soup.

19/08/2025: My parents have an annual pass so I visit regularly when Im in Clare. Strongly recommend for any day weather is looking a bit rainy ( or not up for traffic to coast). Never far from shelter and fantastic way to spend a day! Beautiful gardens. Great cafe with great staff, although Brambles took over cafe they have kept original local staff. They are so friendly and brighten everybody's day. Lots of inside and outside seating. They also sell plants at reasonable prices. New Kilkenny gift shop that also has local pictures has opened on site. Well maintained paths outside grounds through the woods with options for longer or shorter walks. There is a Park run in woods on Saturdays Annual pass for gardens is only 35 and 10% discount in cafe. Worth it for anyone living or visiting Clare regularly. Everything other than walled garden is free to enter so can still enjoy the rest if on a budget

08/08/2025: Used to be a great spot to bring the family but now charging too high a prices for the walled garden itself (which used to be free)

27/10/2025: Highly recommend staying here! The location is fantastic - super close to the Cliffs of Moher and close to some lovely pubs and restaurants in the area. The host was also fabulous and very helpful and easy to communicate with. The only feedback we can give is that the bathrooms could maybe do with some renovation.

18/10/2025: Oar Restaurant & Rooms is a standout pick if you love food experiences and are okay with a modest but characterful stay. The restaurant is the star, and the rooms complement it nicely. If you’re heading that way, I’d highly recommend booking early (especially dinner) and asking for a room with a view.

24/09/2025: Got stuck behind tour bus after tour bus on our way here so got there 10 min after 4. Denied entry and refuse to give a refund.

18/10/2025: I had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! As soon as I got there I was personally shown to my room, and was upgraded for free by surprise. The dinner and breakfast I had were delicious. It is so peaceful, quiet, and beautiful here.

11/09/2025: Ladies & gents, ...Be prepared & warned.....I darn you to enter this shop and not buy anything if you can... It's impossible!! We spent over two & half hours & at least €320 later. There's something for everyone, gift's for friends & family including yourself. Staff was very friendly, courteous and patient. We had coffee & cake in the cafe, which was very tasty. X
