28/08/2024: After a long flight, we enjoyed an enjoyable a generous portion of burger and chips, accompanied by a couple of pints of Guinness for lunch. The service was warm and welcoming.

12/10/2024: Fabulous dining experience, full house on a Saturday night provided for a lovely atmosphere helped by laid back, pleasant, friendly staff who were well trained and super at what they do. Great building with old style large shopfront windows. BYO policy at no extra charge which is pretty unique! Every dish was fresh & delicious, mussels, sea bream, haddock, beef all cooked and presented to perfection. Totally enjoyable evening finished off nicely with a reasonable bill. Definitely recommend.

16/09/2024: Fabulous restaurant in the picturesque setting of Rosscarbery village with large windows to take it in and we had the perfect table inside the window to enjoy it. We were advised on arrival of the BYO policy with local pubs happily allowing takeaway drinks to the restaurant or shop with off licence a few doors away. Complimentary delicious bread was served immediately which is becoming more of a rarity. The BYO is also complimentary even though they chill your beers and supply wine coolers and glasses at your table. We started with mussels and portobello mushrooms, our mains included haddock, crayfish & a slow cooked beef pasta dish finishing off with yummy desserts. Each dish and mouthful was cooked to perfection and so flavoursome. Roast veg were served with mains, water bowls not forgotten with mussels, food and service was perfection. Finally the dreaded part……the bill but this was almost as good as the food!!! This restaurant is extremely well priced, something we don’t see these days…….value for money offering superb quality food and pleasant service in a really nice atmosphere makes for a night out that you’ll want to and can afford to repeat several times. Highly highly recommend.

31/10/2024: Stopped in for lunch during a day trip into Kinsale. What a wonderful lunch we had. The Fishy Fish pie was outstanding. One of the best dishes I've had in months. I highly, highly recommend this dish.

27/10/2024: Something is VERY FishyFishy at this Kinsale eatery. You can do better elsewhere. Read on. Upon your arrival you are enticed by the charming restaurant. The decor is well executed, the patio inviting. The colors inside are serene and natural, echoing the sea, driftwood and old ships with a hip edge. My expectations were being mollified and I had high hopes. A nice wine list and an enticing menu were placed before us and we ordered as we enjoyed conversation about our day. Then the meal started and it was all downhill from there. Although the food was passable, it certainly does not deserve a Michelin Star recommendation, let alone an actual star. (I’ve dined at several). And to top it off, the service was lacking, not that they weren’t trying, they were very nice, but the staff has not been trained. We shared the bottle of wine and an appetizer (the arancini which was nice) then waited a VERY long time for the next course. When it arrived, it was TWO courses served at once, dumping 8 large plates/bowls onto the small table for four. Who serves salad AND a main at the same time? 8 large plates/bowls at once was uncomfortable, unexpected and unacceptable. I understand it’s a “local” restaurant in a small seaside town in Ireland, but its pretensions and apparent TV exposure have gotten in the way of it meeting its potential. What promised to be an entertaining and enjoyable evening was dashed by mediocrity playacting as upscale. THE FOLLOWING DAY: Upon further reflection, a lot of the disappointment I experienced was due to lack of staff training. As I stated, they were wonderful, but lacked in the service department. The food was ok, I didn’t care for the bisque, or the Caesar salad, my linguine with prawns was ok (the prawns didn’t taste fresh) but the sauce was inspired (an alfredo with lemon and thyme) the Hake tasted good and was a nice presentation. All of that said, you can do better elsewhere. But still just Two stars, and thats being generous, and those are definitely NOT Michelin stars.

21/08/2024: My Wife and Me stopped there on our Tour, doing the Wild Pacific Way. The welcome was heartwearming and the friendly atmosphere only increased our already top-notch impression of ireland's wildlife and native folks. Greetings from Germany !

09/10/2024: This is a lovely restaurant situated on the main street. They serve quality, wholesome homemade style food at very reasonable prices. Oddly their wine prices are a little inflated compared to the food.

13/11/2024: Went there for a drink with our colleagues in the office We sat on the ground level which is called the upstairs as they have an underground level as well I guess they do live entertainment downstairs Drinks were really nice and the service was very quick Nice place around Covent Garden area

17/10/2024: Very nice and quick service. The food was very tasty and filled you up. Unfortunately I didn't like the atmosphere that much, otherwise everything was great.

25/09/2024: I have been trying seafood chowder all over Ireland this past week, and this was by far the best! Great flavor with generous amounts of seafood. The wife had the vegetable soup and loved it. The staff was wonderful and welcoming. If you are near Bantry, I highly recommend it. Price was reasonable.

15/10/2024: went here for lunch with family on a Saturday, massive portion of carvery lunch with all the trimmings was around €15, big que for the sandwich deli also & must admit they looked tasty ! students get a 10% discount so I am sure its rammed on a weekday lunchtime

03/09/2024: Looked good from the outside and the staff were quite pleasant, although didn’t once speak to us after serving our food, which is unusual in Ireland. And unfortunately the food let this place down, the chowder was quite watery and flavourless. Full of bland white fish. The worst one we’d had in 2 weeks of chowder eating in Ireland. The 1/2 ‘crab’ and salmon sandwich on the side was 99% mashed salmon with no butter on the soda bread. Nice but dry. A lovely salad accompaniment however, the carrot and sesame was great.

30/10/2024: Lovely Irish traditional restaurant 💚! Food was delicious. We had soup and Prawns pil pil to start both gorgeous and seafood pie and salmon for mains! Stunning food, all hot and tasty. Well seasoned etc. Two kids with us and they shared babybowl and goujons & chips - all handmade not processed. I would just say gravy didnt come with the baby bowl but im sure if i asked they would have given some. Friendly and pleasant staff (and baby changing in ladies thankfully) all in all really beautiful meal and would definitely come back. Highly recommend.
