06/06/2025: Came in few hours ago to grab a late breakfast. I got a toasted sandwich (forgot the name but had lots of chicken and cheese inside) and sausage roll (pork and caramelised onions) to go. The sandwich was beautiful! Perfect level of crisp from the bread and the melted cheese blended with the rest of the contents very well. Not super heavy either. The sausage roll was only consumed an hour after purchase but it was hearty, remained crispy and full of flavour. Workers were very kind and accommodating also so I’ll definitely be back!

20/05/2025: Situated just on the western edge of Leap, a jewel of a fish and chips shop/café/diner. Reasonable prices, lovely food, decent portions, long opening hours. Seating inside and out.

11/04/2025: Ger’s is the perfect spot to enjoy any part of your day. With their 5 star welcoming to their matching 5 star service, the team at Ger’s will make you feel at home. Then there is their food; 5 stars all the way. The chips are cut fresh daily, their curry sauce is divine and for the first time, I tried a “battered sausage”; wow! So good! If you want to feel happy after eating, visit Ger’s. The location is beautiful. Sit inside or out and enjoy.

30/03/2025: A real find. Fabulous friendly family run hotel. Excellent location in town centre. The tasting menu was fantastic and lovely and attentive staff. We loved it and will be back.

15/07/2025: Stopped here last Sunday for food at around 5 or 6pm, place was busy enough but not too bad We just wanted something light to eat on the way home from a day out, I had chicken and bacon salad......shocking. hardly any actual salad, far too much diced cooked chicken and yet only 2 pieces of roughly cut rashers, too much salt or soy or whatever it was going on in it - but all piled up in a bowl with very little salad - no finesse My wife had a bowl of soup, far too salty to eat. We didn't say anything, other folk seemed to enjoy what they had. Service staff were grand. paid and left

03/06/2025: The parking outside was plentiful and convenient. I absolutely loved the ambience here, and it was impeccably clean and quite with a decent food menu. I could imagine a great evening here if you were having a few pints, but we stopped for food, and although it wasn't bad, it lacked flavour, and the portion size was underwhelming. The chips you see on the photo were shared. Shame, as it's a beautiful place. They need to up the quality of the dinner a little bit.

21/06/2025: At 75 years of age I have eaten well. I have to say the meal I had on Thursday was absolutely one of my best ever. The black sole was out of this world. Don’t tell anyone about this gem.

07/06/2025: Delicious food served by staff who are keen to ensure a memorable and special experience. So lucky to have squeezed in a reservation! If you’re a group of four or five try to get the round table.

The Whale's Tail

06/07/2025: We had such a lovely evening at Kirby’s The Whale’s Tail last night. I was dining with my daughter, and from start to finish the whole experience was second to none. The food was absolutely delicious, as were the cocktails! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the service friendly and attentive, a special thank you to Anne Marie and Denise who looked after us so well. It’s no wonder it’s a West Cork favourite. Highly recommend and looking forward to our next visit.

15/06/2025: Visited Whales Tail for Father's Day and it was exceptional. The menu has a good choice, but the food itself is piping hot, not warm, but hot. That's a plus in my books even before you taste it. The fish is excellent, local and fresh. Mocktails are a great addition to the menu, feels like a cheat treat. And the dads received chocolates as a special treat, a small but nice touch, it just shows the superb customer service. Thank you for a beautiful day.
