05/05/2025: A gem of a place. Noel and the team have been maintaining consistently high standards of hospitality and excellent food for several years. We are lucky to have them in Bantry. I especially like the risotto and the steaks.

29/03/2025: Oh, the morning chill mirrored the reception I received. A biting wind swept in, but the service offered an even deeper cold. The staff seemed lost in their own world, their voices a distant murmur that never reached my table. An order remained unspoken, a chance to taste the food forever lost in the indifference. Perhaps there was warmth and delight in the kitchen, but the frost of neglect kept it far from my reach.

06/04/2025: Food is absolutely awful, overpriced, and totally bland. Upstairs badly needs a refurbishment and a lick of paint. Nice attentive staff but if you think the food is lovely here you must be used to eating rubbish at home.

18/04/2025: We have always enjoyed our breakfast at Bakestone. We’ve been happy and satisfied customers here for many years. However, today was different. Dreadful and upsetting experience here this morning. Went to Bakestone, as we have done for a long time, to meet friends for breakfast. We arrived ahead of our friends and ordered coffee from the server while we waited for our friends. We told the server that we would order our food once they had arrived. At this point in time another member of staff, who was manning the till, arrived and advised the staff member that there were clearing tables. We were asked to go ahead and order our coffee. This we did. At the till, an extremely rude and somewhat aggressive member of staff demanded that we return to the order area as we didn’t have a table number. We politely informed her that we were asked to go to the till by the other member of staff. She became very animated and very sharp with us. Her tone with us was totally unacceptable. She mentioned something about a leaking roof and she didn’t have any tables. We responded that we were asked to go and order our coffee at the till. The person on the till continued to be rude and very confrontational with us. We asked the initial server if we could speak with a manager. We were advised that the person on the till was the manager. We were then told we could sit outside with our coffee. We make the decision to have our coffee outside as advised and wait for our friends. We decided not to order any food and when our friends arrive advised them not to order food. We would go elsewhere for breakfast. Dreadful customer service and could not recommend this establishment. I can see from the reviews that there is a pattern of poor reviews here.

20/05/2025: Lovely Monday evening spontaneous dinner here. The waitress was brilliant , the place was full (on a Monday night may I add😆) but she managed every table so well while being super lovely! The food was devine , great portions and very fresh! Would 100% go again!

25/03/2025: Barry, Thank you so much for Sunday evening, ye looked after everyone so well for our day 2 Wedding Celebrations. The food was 10/10 for adults & kids!! There was plenty to eat and everyone really enjoyed it😊 We had the most amazing weekend!! We couldn't fault the service between yourselves at The Hunted Hog and Castlemartyr Resort. Thanks also to your staff who looked after us all night. Martina & Leigh

10/05/2025: The restaurant here is very dull unless you get a window table , lots outdoor tables lovely when you have the weather, the soup was just bout warm, the beef Burger was OK, fish and chips very plain peas very dry , chicken wings were not spicy and whatever sauce they had on them it was dried into them , staff very friendly and restaurant very clean but oddly shaped if you are down the back you do not have a view of anything and tables close together

06/05/2025: Would highly recommend a stay in this hotel, it punches well above its 3 stars. A stand out for us was evening dinner in the restaurant. We rarely eat in the hotel restaurant where we are staying but decided to do so here. We had a beautiful window table overlooking the harbour, the food was top class - particular mention for the Moules and the Prawn Sliders Starters, both of which will defo bring us back. Both of our mains were seriously good too, loved the fish and chips. Super service from the two staff members on duty, we got Cornelius’s name but omitted to get the other man’s name, both of whom made our whole experience fantastic. Breakfast and the service provided then too were also top class. Well done to all.

12/03/2025: Definitely my favorite coffee shop in town. Friendly atmosphere with an owner who makes you feel at home, and is always looking for new ways to enhance the experience. Great coffee, great vibes, great shout.

26/05/2025: Disappointing. The prawn cocktail at €16 was overpriced for what we got. There were not that many prawns, very little marie rose sauce and a lot of iceberg lettuce. The hake was bland to say the least. We were very disappointed. It was very expensive for what we had - will not be going back.

18/05/2025: I don't usually write reviews but for this restaurant I did. It's easy to book a table online. A really nice big restaurant with nice chairs and seating and not too hot considering it was a very warm day. The staff were just brilliant, our server was a man and he was beyond helpful. Usually it is really difficult to please the members in my family due to being particular about fish ( no batter) and some of our family are vegetarian. The male server was able to get the chef to make a children's vegetarian/vegan dish. Which I have never had offered to me before and boy did it not disappoint! It was superb!! The hake dish and gnocchi were delicious. The blends of fresh ingredients and combinations were fantastically paired. I will definitely return to Kirby's. I couldn't rate it high enough.
