03/10/2026: If I could give minus stars for the atmosphere I would. Dreadful experience here today with my family. They are sitting on a brilliant location and disappointed with the whole experience. Music was unbelievably loud, very overstimulating for myself and my two young children. Pity they don’t listen to their customers request to turn down the noise especially when I asked three different members of staff kindly to turn it down a notch or two. Food menu very poor for children.

28/06/2026: I came here because it was highly recommended, unfortunately the service was terrible. We waited at the door no one greeted us, another server didn’t even tell us the specials. However the waiter who was a women was very kind such a shame that the other two waiters ruined my experience.

29/05/2026: Went for an evening meal. Food was average. Service was transactional with serving staff not engaging or particularly interested in their customers. It may help if a singular member of staff were allocated to a certain set of tables to try to create some connection. We got a different person at each stage of the meal. We didn't leave a tip...

09/10/2026: The blue LED lights out front are shockingly blinding as you drive down the road towards the entrance. And the same lights around the exterior do nothing for the atmosphere of what otherwise could be a nice space. Unfortunately the bright blue light completely takes away from the historic look and feel of the thick thatch. A danger on the road for drivers and a disservice to the atmosphere of the space.

12/04/2026: A finely run and friendly family establishment, a fantastic pint, great crack with the bar staff. All sport show on the numerous televisions. Always welcomed and mighty banter to be had with all the customers and staff.

08/10/2026: Hidden gem! On our way back to Dublin from Kinsale, we were in a hurry and needed a quick bite. This restaurant caught our eye on Google and Travel Advisor as a highly-rated spot in Fermoy. We were glad we decided to check it out. The service was fast and friendly, and the pizza dough was absolutely delicious! We started with bruschetta and ordered two margarita pizzas, adding pepperoni and arugula to each. I also couldn’t resist getting an apple pie to go. I can’t wait to try it later at the hotel!

12/09/2026: We visited Bella Cafe in Fermoy for a special anniversary dinner, and while it is part of a chain, the genuine warmth of the staff made it a memorable evening. The front-of-house team works remarkably hard with a smile on their faces from start to finish. There is zero lack of effort here; they are clearly putting in a massive shift to keep a busy dining room happy, especially given the rapid pace of service needed to support their brilliant free-corkage policy. The food itself is very tasty. The prawn starter arrived piping hot and was absolutely delicious. For the main course, I had the Tagliatelle Pollo Con Broccoli—the flavours were lovely, though a touch more generous with the sun-dried tomatoes would have taken it to the next level, as those bites were outstanding. To finish, the tiramisu was a real delight: rich, authentic, and served in a very generous portion. If there is room for improvement, it comes down to operational finesse rather than effort: Table Clearing & Pacing: The main courses arrived while our starter plates were still on the table. Assigning a dedicated host or floor lead to check table progression before firing mains would immediately smooth out the pacing. Service Checks & Seasoning: A quick check-back after each course and an offer of freshly grated Parmesan or cracked black pepper at the table would easily lift the seasoning of the pasta dishes. The staff are the absolute heart of this place, and their enthusiasm shines through. With a tiny bit of tweaking on section management and timing, Bella Cafe would be well-nigh faultless.

20/04/2026: My two friends and I stayed at the Kitty Apartment (above the bar) for five days just before Easter. Everything was perfect—the apartment was comfortable, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed. In an excellent location, just a 5' walk from town center and a beautiful church. The owner kindly left us delicious local yogurts, as well as coffee, tea, and cookies. The beds were very comfortable, and the heating very good. Everything was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. A special bonus was the Brewery Bar downstairs, with its lovely garden and very friendly staff. We also met some nice and friendly locals there. Highly recommended!

Even with the unusual heat today, the management and team made sure the café remained comfortable by carefully adjusting the air conditioning system to maintain a pleasant indoor temperature. 25/08/2026: One of the best lunches we have ever had anywhere in the world! Every single dish we ordered was spectacular. The seafood chowder and chicken tikka are phenomenal!! The service was very friendly but on the slower side so I don’t recommend this place if you’re in a rush. But otherwise it is a must go!

14/08/2026: My wife and I had a fantastic dinner at The Blue Haven’s weekly Indian Pop-Up Thursday. Each week, the chef creates a tasting menu showcasing a different region of India, and last night’s menu took us to West Bengal and Kolkata. Highlights included the Kolkata chicken drumstick biryani, rich chicken kosha, fish kalia and chingri macher bora, followed by a lovely moong daler payesh for dessert. Everything was full of flavour, wonderfully varied and very filling—easily some of the tastiest Indian food we’ve had in Ireland. The service was excellent too: attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, with the team kindly talking us through every dish. Highly recommended if you’re in the mood for a memorable Indian meal in Kinsale. It has already become a Thursday-night fixture in our house!

07/09/2026: A group of us stopped off here for lunch on Sunday 6th September. Had ordered in advance. Food was delicious and the girls were magnificent.

06/09/2026: Outstanding restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious. It may have been served in a pub but it was leagues beyond your standard pub grub. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Atmosphere really relaxed and pleasant. Highly recommend.

16/03/2026: Celebrated my Dads 80th birthday here Saturday evening. 19 adults and 2 children. Had a fantastic time here. The food and service was excellent. Had a set menu and they made a gorgeous birthday cake, so delicious. Thanks to Kasia and her team for everything. Will definitely be returning for lunch and dinner soon.
