09/03/2025: Wonderful place if you're in Kinsale.

04/03/2025: Tasty, well presented food but very small and expensive portions so poor value (e.g. plate of broccoli sitting on romanesco sauce €18; courgette and buratta dish had 6 slices of courgette). The worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. A very polite request was met with a lot of drama and actual eye-rolling by owner instead of being seen as genuine customer feedback. So unprofessional. We wanted to leave but stayed as we had put in order and didn’t want to mimic earlier drama by owner! Ruined our meal as she had every opportunity to let it go and come back over and ask how was our meal, and so created a terribly uncomfortable atmosphere for us. Not what you want or need for your quick bite that added to €95! The owner’s comments below perfectly capture the attitude we encountered. I see a few others on here had a similar unpleasant experience.

22/12/2024: Nunca más. No se proporcionan menús, tienes que pararte en la entrada de la cocina para mirar una pizarra mientras bloqueas la ruta del personal que intenta pasar por encima de ti. Pedí el bacalao con papas fritas, esto consistía en algo que posiblemente salió de una bolsa de ojos de capitán Birds de filetes congelados con apenas suficiente pescado bajo la capa empanada para llenar una cucharada. Se sirvió con una ensalada de col muy acuosa y un cubo de patatas fritas. La comida de mis compañeros no fue tan buena como la mía, ella pidió pollo frito del sur, absoluta incredulidad cuando llegó un pequeño trozo seco de pechuga de pollo desmigada. He visto porciones más grandes en un menú para niños en otro lugar. Estas dos comidas más un café y una lata de coca 33 Euros. ¡Qué estafa!

12/10/2024: We had the most amazing time! We were with a group of twelve and were treated to a spectacular day. Kathleen the proprietor was a delight. She showed many in our group how to pour a proper pint and fixed us the most lovely lunch. She was very kind and accommodating, this was definitely the highlight of our trip.

10/10/2024: Very nice place to start/finish your trip to Whiddy Island. Thanks to Tim and Kathleen we had a beautiful day there. Hope to be back soon!

22/10/2024: Passing from Cork to Killarney, we stopped for lunch in this restaurant. We were made very welcome. The meal was good and the price affordable. I recommend this place.

09/04/2025: Just started my vaca / road trip through the south west and this place spoiled my breakfast expectations already. A big recommendation in this small, colourful village!

25/11/2024: Great baking especially the rye sourdough. You can get it to take home or get your sandwich made with it there. Not to mind the other fresh batch loaves, soda bread etc. very friendly staff and the most excellent breakfasts. Good coffee too.

02/10/2024: What a fantastic little pub tucked in at the end of the village. The live music was excellent and the atmosphere very welcoming, Guinness and Murphy's both excellent. I'd highly recommend popping in when your on the area.

20/10/2024: Great local pub, friendly staff and delicious food. Visiting West Cork in the winter? Stop here for a pint of Guinness by the fire. The steak is a must. Desserts are fab also!

07/04/2025: Breakfast was superb—we had the poached eggs and avocado, which were delicious. The location is remote, so a car is necessary to get around, but we were aware of that beforehand, and honestly, that’s part of the charm of staying in a Country House. Freiderike greeted us warmly with a smile, took the time to explain everything we could do in the area, and let us know when they’d be available. The surroundings were lush and green, and although it was quite cold outside, the room—as well as the shared kitchen and sitting areas—were warm, cozy, and inviting.

09/03/2025: A beautifully maintained Gem. Very warm welcome, lovely food. Accommodation excellent. We will definitely be back.

06/04/2025: Outstanding service. Food was great. Dined April 4, and OMW there now again. Casual, layed back and very clean. We'll be back over and over, guaranteed!

12/03/2025: Firstly service was great really lovely man served me. Unfortunately there was a smell of fish the minute I opened the door. I asked for a toasted wrap with Ham Cheese and onion, I definitely got a full onion which were big chunks , I had to take them all out. The wrap was tasty but I also got mayonnaise that I didn't ask for. The coffee was lovely and the cafe was spotless and was the bathroom. Just a few small changes and it would be a lovely place. I will call again
