05/04/2025: By far the worst service I’ve ever received in my life. Went with my friend tonight (5/4/25) and was appalled with the staff. They were blatantly rude to us the whole meal. I had booked this dinner at 5pm on a Saturday night for 2 people. When we arrived we were immediately shouted at asking for ID and what age we were. We are both 19 and handed the man our ID’s. As he was looking at them another man came up to us to question our age. We said we are 19 and have a reservation for food. The two began to shout about how they shouldn’t let us in as it is against house rules and they are 21s today. We were confused as this was not advertised anywhere on the website nor was explained when we booked the table. They acted like they were doing us a favour by letting us eat and made a big show of taking away the drinks menu from the table we were sat at. Might I add, we were the only table in this place, not that I’m surprised. We then ordered our food and I asked, to double check, if he was certain that we could not order a drink. He completely switched up his fake politeness into a voice of disgust, saying obviously we cannot order a drink. I would genuinely understand this if it was 7pm or after on a Saturday night, but at 5pm with your only table? We felt thoroughly disrespected by these 2 employees and they will be the main reason we will never return. To make matters worse, when i asked for the bill the employee made a snide remark about why we wouldn’t want to say in the establishment for longer. The food was standard and price was good, but no price is worth enduring the staff. I honestly struggked to pay the bill as I felt it was too much for the joke of an evening I had. As a hospitality worker myself I can honestly say I have never experienced such an abysmal experience in a restaurant. If I could give this 0 stars I would.

04/04/2025: We held our annual Nutrition x Engineering Ball upstairs in McGowans for the second year in a row and we can certainly say it did not disappoint! Ellen and all the team were so accommodating, assisting us with any issues. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much guys for allowing us host an amazing evening - the highlight of the Nutrition Society’s year🔥🥰🫶🏻

12/02/2025: Nice par 3 course with a few longer holes. A great driving range. Everyone is always nice and friendly. Gary, one of the pros has been great to work with. There are a few coaches there, actually. Snack bar and coffee available as well.

27/03/2025: We ate in here for first time today the food was excellent and the girls working there were very friendly will deffo be back

06/03/2025: Purchased a steak and kidney pie, like most steak and kidney pies nowadays, lacked kidney. Other than that tasty, also tried some of my wife's chicken curry, it was superb.

10/04/2025: Best hotel experience by a long shot- customer service, food, and amenities are fantastic. Would recommend!

09/04/2025: i only had a great dinner for collection. and that was delicious. the polish woman and the Portuguese girl helped me me with the order and everything. great staff.

16/02/2025: I enjoyed a nice beer while waiting for the bus perfect pint of guinness friendly staff who were quick to start a conversation even though they were busy as I sitting at the bar on my own. Well done lads great pub next time I will try the food. But I will definitely be back.

10/02/2025: Fine traditional pub with a loyal local clientèle. The Guinness is poured carefully and the pub serves the best pints in the area. Friendly place.

08/02/2025: El camarero principal parecía encantador y amable. Barmaid parecía un poco hostil al pedir unos cuantos Baby Guinness al final de la noche antes de hacer nuestro camino. Baby Guinness € 6. 50 cada uno parece una locura hoy en día 😔

23/02/2025: Lovely local spot in the heart of Listowel town, as with any small town service isn't super fast but the they are really friendly. The food is nice, albeit limited for vegetarians, however that hasn't stopped us coming back. There is ample seating and it is suitable for families with small babies. However there is no designated baby changing area in the bathrooms. There is a section of counter top next to the sink in the women's bathroom you can use to change your baby however if someone else is using the sink it's awkward as you leave your baby exposed to passers by while being changed, the bathroom is always cold and the surface itself is tiled so you absolutely need a changing mat with you. You also run the risk of flashback from the sink. While the front of the restaurant is wheelchair accessible I'm not sure the bathrooms would be accessible to wheelchairs as you have to go down steps to get there. Otherwise this really is a lovely spot. The food is nice. Prices are reasonable. The bathroom facilities is truly the only thing I could fault.

15/02/2025: Nice place to eat. Love the staff. Food is simple done extremely well. Breakfast menu in particular. If possible if they could change their cleaner to a non bleach product for people for asthma as it can be a trigger. But the place is very clean and well taken care of.

06/01/2025: Have been to this pub many times over the food and has always been top notch. Last Friday went there hoping for a nice meal with my partner. I ordered garlic mushrooms which were obviously reheated in microwave. She ordered 8oz steak for main, it came out was full of fat and totally un eatable! When asked was everything OK, we said steak was terrible.. Waiter replied "I'll say it to the chef" and that was it! No apology, no offer of discount.. Nothing. Will never eat there again, would not recommend for food!
