The best restaurants

29/05/2025: Perfect place to have a quick bite if you are a Chinese and Thai food lover !!! Chicken fried dumplings and hot sour soup is a must to try!! Overall my favorite Chinese place !! Elice the owner of the place is also very friendly!

15/08/2025: Nice café. Given the void left over by the former Coffee Pot it's nice to have this café here. Good selection of goodies on offer, ample room and tables for a decent crowd and not the worst value either. I had a nice, decent scone (with butter, jam and cream too) and my daughter got this large strawberry and cream doughnut which was excellent.

10/01/2024: Update: 10th January 2024. CLOSED - Google shows it’s open but blinds are down and sign says it shut for January. Bonus: we walked around and found Furey’s diner, not somewhere we’d been before. Whenever we visit Donegal we always use to pop in here for a cuppa and something to eat. Arrived today to find it closed, sign in window states they closed due to refurbishment at the beginning of January and will reopen again in February. Based on my past visit I’m giving it 5 stars and hopefully it will reopen soon.

17/08/2024: ‘Best 2 dinners, I’ve ever eaten’ says the father and that’s saying something. Went for the fish platter - unbelievable. Service was spot on, including my 7 year nephew who was clearly auditioning for a spot on the team. Next time we’re in Sneem, I’ll be there. Unmissable.

07/07/2024: The staff we friendly and the dining room was cozy. Was really looking forward to their fish and chips but was underwhelmed. More like chips with a wee piece of fish. The batter was lovely though but chips a bit soggy.

08/06/2024: Soup was rotten. Toastie was nice. Ordered kids meal. €9 for 1 sausage and handful of chips should have went to supermarket across street.. Overpriced avoid...

24/01/2026: Just abandoned subway food order due to no confidence in staff. Ordered vegan veggie delite. Watched a unappealing piece of bread being defrosted without being asked my bread choice. Two staff members quizzed me 3 times on which patty while each time I confirmed the vegan one, on asking what the choices were they said one, so I was perplexed at being asked ‘which’ one. I then asked what bread was being defrosted and was told the gluten free one. I explained I wanted vegan(there are 3 bread option) and I am not celiac. They informed me I’d asked for it as vegan. I again explained I do not have gluten intolerance by which point I had lost the will to go further or the confidence in the staff having any food order allergy training and left hungry. Disappointing experience.

28/09/2025: My experiences with Subway. North Street, Swords (Applegreen garage)... Experience 1: The woman serving me thought it would be a good idea to serve both me as well as the lady behind me at the same time. I didn't feel prioritised and I actually felt uncomfortable ordering alongside someone else whom I don't know. The subway employee ended confusing herself whilst mixing up our bread and sauce types. Disappointing to be honest considering a roll costs in around 9 quid. Not cheap in today's climate and its a treat I generally look forward to but dont always have. Be better. Experience 2: I only eat Hearty Italian. I understand that subway have other choices of good quality bread to chose from but I've tried their selection and nothing tickles my fancy. On this day, I arrived at Subway an hour and a half after they had opened. I asked for a Hearty Italian only to find out that none had been prepared. I'm working within the hospitality trade all my life. Anyone that has worked within hospitality knows preparation is key. Being ready is key. Instead I was nonchalantly told that :they're not ready yet". No offer of an alternative bread, no waiting time given. Just a terrible attitude and a sense of carelessness. Be better. Experience 3: I was served by whom I consider to be their best employee. Fairly sure she's a full-timer with brown hair. Very efficient, good manners, smiles, works clean and holds the counter well by herself when under pressure. However, after ordering a roll with meatballs, spicy cheese and marinara sauce I took a bite only to find that the meatballs were dry, black and almost rock solid (almost). Again, disappointed and fed up but not fed. Be better Side note: The garage as a whole is ran dismally. The deli is twice as bad as subway. Burger king isn't too bad and the cashiers/shop floor assistants are clueless when it comes to prompt and efficient service. If you're packing a shelf and you see a line of customers waiting to pay for fuel/products, etc take a 2 minute break from what you're doing and clear the line. Instead, the employees gawk at the queue whilst continuing to pack shelves etc. Meanwhile, all us customers are growing impatient with the one person working the till whom generally, if not most of the time, has no sense of urgency and is not trained adequately on tills therefore making mistakes and elongating the entire process for everyone. Not too mention, you don't even get a smile. The garage is a joke and Applegreen head office need to implement policies, procedures and inspections for their staff and the premises. Pelco is a great example of how to manage a business of the same nature within a garage setting.The big boys within the company should take responsibility too and do a bit of graft instead of floating from outlet to outlet in their lovely suits doing next to nothing other than throwing an eye over the premises and asking the same old questions. Be better. I'm going over to Subway now to order a roll. I will edit and update this review if I have a bad experience. Let's hope not though! Fantastic service today. 17.06.25 Rolls not ready in Subway 50 minutes after opening. 22.06.25 Very good service today. Fast, clean and friendly. 28.06.25 All over the place. Just keeps getting worse and worse. 28.09.25 Waited 5 minutes (which would've been longer if I was willing to remain patient) to be served. I foresaw that I could've been waiting longer so I decided against a subway today. Staff very slow. No sense of urgency, not even any acknowledgement. No changing of gloves between orders either. Pay for Rock Star to lead your team and stop employing minimum rate staff that don't care! One employee on shift. Slow service. Lack of health and safety precaution due to being under too much pressure. No changing of gloves etc.Getting worse as time goes by. I wouldn't be surprised to see the shop go at some point soon. Btw, the young lady that served me tried her best and did a great job given the environment she is operating in and the tools/help she has been provided.

01/08/2025: Food is amazing and the new weekend delivery driver is such a nice pleasant lady I would highly recommend for both value for money and customer service

04/07/2025: Ordered an spice box from here and… well…. What a disappointment. Got one here before was so amazingly good I came back but unfortunately they have changed, and as a person who hates change this just tipped over the edge. Finished the spice box quickly, not because I ate it fast but because there was diddly all in it. About 90% soggy chips and 10% chicken. Had two massive chicken balls which could have been tennis balls. Chicken wings were also in the box and I swear my toe was bigger than one of them. oh, and don’t let me forget, NO SHREDDED CHICKEN? About five bits of onion in it. I know. Horrific. This may seem like a joke to whomever is reading, but I am deadly serious. Deadly. Don’t even get curry with the meal ridic and it was twelve euro. Felt more like eating a crappy lucky bag than a spice box.
