The best restaurants

17/04/2025: Recent short getaway with my wife - Lake Lodge room was nice & grounds are beautiful, the restaurant however was a disappointment. With only 3 other couples dining the atmosphere was subdued and very quiet for a Friday evening, Sashimi starter was good - ordered beef cheek & duck for main course with an expensive Rioja to accompany. Rioja arrived stone cold & I enquired if they had one available nearer to room temperature - which apparently wasn't an option. Beef cheek was excellent, the duck however was a different story with 2 of the 3 pieces being inedible, in fact I couldn't cut them with my steak knife. I did bring this to the attention of waiting staff and told they would inform the chef. I heard nothing more about it so ate some potatoes & my wife shared her beef with me to stave off the hunger. We drank less than half the bottle of wine as weren't really enjoying it. I didn't make a fuss as was a special night my wife had planned & looked forward to but I did mention the duck & wine situation when paying the bill without any acknowledgment from the server. I am not criticising her as don't believe she had the authority to do anything but there didn't seem to be anyone senior on the floor & chef was nowhere to be seen. We retired to the bar but as it was empty & didn't have any Jack Daniels which I enjoy on special occasions, we reluctantly called it an early night... overall very disappointing and certainly wouldn't recommend or return - there are lots of very fine restaurants in West Cork which are better than this on all levels...

03/09/2025: Took over a month to get my voucher, very disappointed had previously used the service and had no issues. This time though they took my money and I never realized until the person I sent the voucher too never mentioned receiving it .so I asked did they receive it and they hadn't a clue. After ringing and emailing Niamh and using the website forms and leaving numerous messages I eventually got a response only to say they had no recoded of it. Normally I wouldn't write these reviews but I feel it needs to be said. After a bit of back and forth eventually they came across it. Personally I wouldn't use the service again. A lot to be said for a digital voucher.

29/03/2025: Staff is very good, but there are no adequate food options, especially no hot meals at all. As it is the only place to eat in this area of the campus, it is very sad and a wasted opportunity for the service provider, who appears to have no regard for customers. UCD should really arrange the contract requirements for companies running eating services on campus. The place also stays closed during summer, which makes no sense because the area is still full of researchers and other staff.

05/04/2025: Este restaurante es absolutamente espantoso, quizás la experiencia gastronómica más decepcionante en muchos años. Este restaurante decepcionaría si fuera una gasolinera... en un hotel E 150 es un crimen. El primer intento (Pollo Tikka) vino con 4 pedazos de ‘carne’ tan duros que no se podían cortar con un cuchillo. Después de una queja sugirieron un RibEye que era claramente el grado más bajo posible de carne. Duro, áspero, sin sabor. Incluso las papas fritas estaban casi crudas. Quizás tener una audiencia cautiva en el aeropuerto los hace perezosos. He viajado mucho por el mundo y esto está en la cima de la insatisfacción.
