31/10/2025: There's nothing like a pint outside here on a summer's day, or a lovely pint by the fire in winter time. Lovely pub, great bar staff.

02/10/2025: Absolute gem in Charleville. We were passing through as tourists from the U.K. The staff were so warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Authentically Irish and full of character. It was pouring with rain outside and it was so cosy and warm in there pub/restaurant. The food was delicious, piping hot and my partner also enjoyed his Guinness. Thanks so much! Would recommend.

29/08/2025: Fields have put a lot of money bringing their shop up to the standards of the 21st century. Unfortunately, they didn't use the opportunity to bring the standards of their toilets up too. No wheelchair accessible toilets. No excuse in this day and age especially as they are running an in-house cafe. The cafe leaves a lot to be desired. The coffee is awful, food is mediocre and the tables not very clean. UPDATE Fields had a single bathroom downstairs which they had allocated to the elderly. However, they have since taken down that sign and replaced it with a free for all. There is no sign to tell able-bodied customers to use the ample toilet facilities upstairs. Now there is often a queue for their single toilet downstairs. Had they put any thought into the design or had any consideration for the disabled they could have easily made the downstairs wheelchair-friendly and solved a number of issues. They do advertise that their car park has wheelchair accessible spaces. There are not enough of these and cars and delivery lorrie’s are constantly blocking the ramps. Wake up Fields!!

02/12/2025: B&B review: Spacious clean rooms. We arrived after 6 and there was keys in key box. They contacted me through Booking.com and through text to ensure we got in okay. Nice little treats each night. Very clean at located right in the port, a walk to everywhere. I recommend McCarthys pub.

17/07/2025: I went there for dinner this evening with my daughter and husband. Both the starters and the main courses were super: my husband had a pan seared duck breast, my daughter had beef, and I had fish. The cheesecake: top choice! The staff is very kind and helpful! It was a very nice experience, thank you!

16/11/2025: Just came home from the Red Store after having the best roast beef dinner i have had in a long while. Beef was excrllent and loads of it, mash, roastt potatoes, carrots, green beans and gravy, cant fault anything. Great red wine, such a relaxing atmosphere, staff so friendly, and prices are so very reasonable. Had table booked from previous day which was a plus as it was really busy.

24/10/2025: Had to go to Clonakilty for a funeral and I was so well looked after. Beautiful, large room and bathroom, super comfy bed and had dinner a delicious dinner there both nights. Highly recommend it.

13/10/2025: My husband and I had a fabulous dinner at Murphy’s Restaurant in Castletownbere. We started with an excellent prawns and chorizo appetizer and then had the duck dinner and the leg of lamb dinner. We finished with the pavlova. Each dinner had plentiful sides of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, green beans and red cabbage. Everything was fresh, abundant and delicious. Service was very good. We had a lovely chat with the 3rd generation chef/owner who not only cooked a great meal but also made some nice recommendations for our trip. We very highly recommend Murphy’s to everyone coming to the Beara Peninsula.

15/11/2025: In Kinsale for the weekend,enquired with the locals about an Indian restaurant,they all recommended the Cobra restaurant,and true to their word the food was superb,very friendly staff,small restaurant,would highly recommend it to all 10/10 for me and my partner 👍.

01/11/2025: Firstly, a huge thank you to Brendan. My return from last year for 3 wonderful nights and plan to return next year. Supremely clean and comfortable rooms. A cozy traditional pub lies below rooms. A few minute walk into Midelton town centre. A 3 minute walk to train station which will have you into Cork City Centre in 22 minutes. Thanks to a terrific staff and the friendly locals who frequent this gem of a pub.

19/09/2025: What a place, super clean bed & breakfast with a friendly well run bar downstairs. Brendan the owner is a super nice guy. We had some great chats. The breakfast was very generous, lots of local produce on the menu, rashers & sausages etc. The bar stocks Blacks Beer & the best selection of Stonewell Ciders I've seen in a bar that size. Also the obligatory locally produced Midleton Whiskey
