05/07/2026: Our favourite place to eat in east cork ! Fabulous food , service was fast and staff were very friendly and very accommodating and cautious to my shellfish allergy . The steak sandwich is divine. It was busy with a great atmosphere and the bonus of a sea view !!!

04/07/2026: Over a 2 hour wait for food even though the place wasn't busy, think it was a staffing issue. Not great for business in the height of summer, No wonder the place is up for sale, there is no interest there with the staff..

14/06/2026: The food is lovely here. Service is now a lot better than it used to be. We have been here a lot recently. The most recent three visits were so much better than the previous three times, over a year ago.

07/06/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The food was absolutely outstanding, everything was fresh, delicious, and prepared with great attention to detail. The service was equally excellent, very friendly, attentive, and professional. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this restaurant. Looking forward to coming back again!

09/06/2026: Disappointing stay- as a returning guest I will not return anymore. Check in got off on a poor note. We travelled 3hrs to the hotel in bad weather conditions, arrived late in the evening. We were left standing at reception while the receptionist engaged in general chit chat with a guest from the bar who stood drinking his pint. No problem waiting, but we were not even acknowledged until they were done chatting after some time. We were then informed of a power outage. No back up generators were available, we checked into our dark room and could not use the toilet or shower facilities due to no power. The receptionist advised we could travel to a town 30min away for evening dinner as this town may have electricity. The power had been out for some time, I felt it may have been an option for the hotel to contact guests who had not yet checked in and inform them re food provisions. As mentioned we travelled 3hrs and had driven past the town suggested to us for dinner. That said, the receptionist was obliging and phoned us to say the power had returned. We turned and went back to the hotel for dinner. This was highly disappointing. I sent my meal back as the chicken was half hot and half cold in the middle. My partners meal also fell far below acceptable standard especially for the cost. A burger from a takeaway would have been better standard as the bun crumbled it was so burned. Some of our food was dropped to the incorrect table also and was not prepared until after we had finished our meal. However, the wait staff were extremely helpful and friendly and apologetic of the situation. We did not have to pay for some of the meal. Our room was extremely hot and stuffy even with windows open during the night. At 6am in the morning we realised we were in an adjoining family room, as we woke to a young child crying. The noise appeared extremely close due to only having a door in the room separating us from the family. €225 for a room only rate, hugely disappointing and poor value for money. We stayed approximately 4years ago and returned due to having had a positive experience and enjoying our stay. We had also eaten in the restaurant during this stay and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Receptionist on check out did not ask how our stay was and allow the opportunity for feedback. Limited in accommodation in Schull doesn’t leave much options for alternative accommodation, I would suggest travelling from a nearby town instead of staying in this particular overpriced, underwhelming accommodation.

09/06/2026: Popped in for chowder and pint after a local race. Was a small crowd in for pre wedding drinks and staff weren’t able. Ordered my pint and chowder for a nice waitress. Went outside, had to get my own water. Pint came and then the chowder, no napkin, no knife for the butter etc. Chowder was nice, nothing special. Great location and potential - staff and service could have been better.

22/05/2026: It is a very reasonable price for food and staff is always ready to help or make you feel like at home even from the very start.

06/01/2026: Always friendly and accommodating, helpful around allergies and food intolerances. Great tasting and well presented fresh food.

17/05/2026: The service at this restaurant is excellent as is the food. Additionally, the atmosphere and the level of genuine interest in their customers was exceeded at every level! We were visiting from the United States and had driven to Cobh from Dublin . Our rental car had a flat tire in Cobh and we still were planning to drive to Roscabery to spend the night. It became too late to do so and being delayed by a flat tire. Our server Filip, and his coworker at the front desk, Ruby of the Waters Edge Hotel, went out of their way to help us. They actually found a place for us to stay in Cobh that night as the Waters Edge was fully booked, called and handled the repair of our flat tire and even notified the lodging in Roscabery that were unable to make the trip safely. We can never thank them enough. Our dinner was excellent and we enjoyed Cobh very much that evening!!! Filip and Ruby are great examples of real customer service and caring!!! Bob and Robin

16/05/2026: Beautiful view right on the water with a great terrace. The food was very tasty, but the vegetarian curry lacked that certain something. The service was very friendly.

01/11/2025: Firstly, a huge thank you to Brendan. My return from last year for 3 wonderful nights and plan to return next year. Supremely clean and comfortable rooms. A cozy traditional pub lies below rooms. A few minute walk into Midelton town centre. A 3 minute walk to train station which will have you into Cork City Centre in 22 minutes. Thanks to a terrific staff and the friendly locals who frequent this gem of a pub.

11/04/2026: I previously had a bad experience at this establishment which left a bad taste so reluctantly decided to give it another go when I heard it changed ownership. The new owner was working there that day and he couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. He gave time to each customer and has produced a menu that not only is great value but is top quality too. Will definitely visit again.

21/03/2026: Visited recently as heard under new ownership. Breakfast remains very tasty. Staff excellent. Fab coffee, now serving three fools. Just one minor fault and maybe just personal preference.. the toast is served pre buttered. Feels a bit like a hospital and toast gets soggy very quick then.

31/05/2026: Stopped off here while passing through Fermoy with a car full of hungry kids. Great spot! Delicious pasta, pizza and starters. Good was served fast and the staff were brilliant. Such a great spot! Will defo eat here again when passing through

28/05/2026: Lovely pub with 12 different beers on tap and a spacious beer garden in the back. If you want something to eat, you can get whatever you like from across the street and eat it here with a nice pint of beer.

04/06/2026: Atmosphere was great for a late night takeaway, staff were good craic and we had some laughs. Food was nice as well, particularly the kebab and the fries. Portion sizes really generous:)

12/07/2026: Absolutley amazing food wonderfull staff we have been going to cobra for a good few years went yesterday evening 14 people and I could not recommend them enough outstanding service 14 starters 14 mains and each and every meal was amazing well done and thank you for having amazing food

08/07/2026: Frozen lamb that was dry chewy and unpleasant to eat in our curry. Served me a cold pre made roti which is a sin. If you are unfamiliar with Indian food you might think this place is ok. If you are familiar with good Indian food you won’t be happy.

28/09/2025: Very friendly staff, clean, comfortable slightly old style rooms. Perfect for what we needed and beautiful views. Irene was very friendly and full of local knowledge. She is also an exceptional chef and the breakfast was stunning. The breakfast was served at a leisurely pace and everything was delicious. A relaxing start to the day. We hope to come back again.

09/09/2025: Very hospitable and friendly people. Quaint location. Had a room overlooking an inlet so could watch the tides. The place is a little dated, but the people make up for it. Food was terrific as well.

21/10/2025: I'm a regular and loyal client of this cafe. Here you may find delicious coffee and desserts. There is a cozy outdoor courtyard and small shop with treats.
