10/07/2026: The scones were the best I've ever tasted. Perfect crust, not too moist, not too dry, add the accompanying jam and spread and it's fantastic. Wish I could go there everyday.

14/07/2026: We arrived, were made wait 45 minutes for a chicken wrap and fish and chips, we then mentioned where is our food and it appeared 10 minutes later. The fish and chips were cold, and the chicken in the wrap was chewy and very hard eat. We left our food as we could not eat that, we mentioned it to the staff however she didn’t seem to be too bothered about what our issues. Such a shame because we were so excited to come here and essentially spent €45 on nothing.

07/06/2026: I was in sugrues multiple times last week and during my trip to west cork, it is a lovely small little restaurant. The food is gorgeous, and the staff are brilliant. All the fish and meat are fresh from the local fisheries and butchers. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you are in castletownbere.

14/05/2026: Meal out was fantastic here tonight. Lovely mushroom starter and the scampi was top notch for a main course. My partner loved the roast beef. Yummy brownie for desert. There's a lovely atmosphere with great service. Lovely selection of wine also. Highly recommend.

02/06/2026: Amazing food, they gave us some fresh bread with mozzarella with olive oil while waiting for our food which was a lovely touch. The food itself was lovely, they even threw in some extra sauces to try. Would 100% recommend and can’t wait to try again!

16/06/2026: Worst experience in the Cave bar. Handed menus after being seated and no one arrived to take our order. Having sat for almost half hour we got up and walked out. Met another couple who had the same experience but unfortunately as they were about to get up and leave having waited an extraordinary long time for food, their order arrived so had to eat it. We won't be going back

14/06/2026: Visited here for lunch today. The restaurant was very busy and full so we were offered a table in the bar. This was perfect for us 2 adults, 3 kids. Our order was taken within 10 mins of sitting but then all the issues came up. The food took quite a long time to come to the table +30 minutes. My sister ordered chowder but was never given the correct cutlery. So she had to go looking for it. Ordered cordial for the kids. This came when all our food had been finished. We went to the bar 4 times to ask for gravy/salt/drinks/cutlery etc. The staff were clearly under a lot of pressure. Such small things made our whole experience fairly disappointing. The food was ok but nothing special and the prices did not reflect this. Even when trying to pay it was really hard to get served. And when we were about to pay the manager started loudly giving out to staff telling them to put glasses on an empty table...instead of completing the sale. We possibly came on a bad day and thats unfortunate for us. But from my own experience in hospitality the hotel simply is not staffed adequately. But a little communication goes a really long way to giving customers the feeling that your patronage is recognised and appreciated. This establishment did not perform any good customer service today.

21/06/2026: Inflation has gotten out of hand. Paying €20–28 for a carvery plate with three slices of meat served with carrots, cabbage and mix of mashed potatoes and parsnip is ridiculous. On top of that, €20 for chicken goujons and chips (basically just a fried meal) is absurd. We’re reaching the point of complete ridicule. You might as well cook at home and leave these places empty instead of supporting restaurants that are getting carried away with their high prices. The service also leaves a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, it seems that, to save on staffing costs, experienced employees have been replaced by students who don’t provide the level of attentiveness and customer service that customers would expect. I’m truly sorry to leave this review, but I feel these prices are simply not justified

02/06/2026: Stopped off here on the way down west as ive seen really good reviews on the food here. My wife said " the best chicken wings shes everhad " and even a simple dish like the chicken goujons were lovely and well presented. Staff were very nice and welcoming and service was quick and it got very busy for lunch which is always a good sign. The food was so fresh. Highly recommend a visit.

24/11/2025: Spa was very underwhelming. Sea water swimming pool is dated and not well maintained with pealing ceilings. No separate Spa pre relaxing area to the public pool. The changing room is also same as the changing rooms for the public pool. The floor was flooded and lots of spa slippers and towels thrown on ground, obviously not maintained/monitored. The massage was quite poor too. Would not recommend. The relaxation room has you facing towards a glass wall... with view of a hedge. The lunch in hotel afterwards was very nice however.

12/06/2026: Beautiful craft shop in Bantry that sells local arts and crafts. Lovely coffee and gorgeous seating dotted around the shop. Would highly recommend.

31/05/2026: Lovely independent shop and coffee house. Lots of artists works from the local area raging from watercolours to jewellery with a sit in or take out coffee shop for a drink and sweet treat
