16/03/2025: Our first visit to the Oar . Good was absolutely Amazing to say the least . It was truly over and above what we expected . Good I’m my humble opinion was def Michelin star quality. Views to die for as were the staff . Loved it so much booked my husbands 80th birthday later in the year . Thank you to Colin’s and his truly A team . Xxxxx

16/03/2025: Had dinner in the Upper Deck restaurant at the Oar last night. It was incredible from start to finish. We started in the downstairs bar for a predinner drink. We chatted with the bar manager Ken who was extremely friendly and gave us fab recommendations on the restaurant menu. While we were there, the bar had a great atmosphere and we noticed the other patrons ordering bar food, great deals such as burger and a beer for 20euro, being recommended by the bar manager. The food looked fab and we will def be pack for the burger deal. The restaurant was beautiful with stunning views over the water. I had wings and chicken supreme and my husband had scallops and steak. Everything was delicious and very well presented. We will def be back, and thank you to Ken for recommending the yummy after dinner cocktails.

01/03/2025: Nicest hot chocolate I’ve ever had- both the regular milk chocolate and also the white chocolate one. They put giant marshmallows on top and toast them! Also the focaccia is amazing- both the Mediterranean one and the sea salt & rosemary one. Delicious!

26/02/2025: Just discovered this gem, exquisite coffee, polite and helpful staff impressive in house baked goods for all tastes, sweet, savoury, healthy....

14/02/2025: Nice bar restaurant. Very large menu. The roast lamb was quite good. However the veg were quite overcooked as were the fry’s.

01/03/2025: Went for a networking brunch. Evidently the restaurant was the easiest to make arrangements with. The food was excellent, with little modifications perfectly accommodated. We could take our time chatting, and we all agreed this was a little gem. Oh, and lots of parking, too.

26/11/2024: Meeting John and his family and hearing stories was icing on the cake after an incredible meal and a special dessert, complete with the birthday song serenade from the whole restaurant 💚

20/08/2024: Great spot, lovely skin on fries and burger. Fresh Hake was perfect. Big plus was that our dog was permitted in the outside tented area with us 😀

15/03/2025: Stayed with my son as we did the ring of Beara on our motorbikes Very friendly staff, Amy gave us advice on local hospitality and craic! Room was v clean and bright and we were able to park our bikes outside safely Breakfast in the cafe was fresh and good value

17/11/2024: We stayed there for two nights. The room and breakfast were excellent, and the sausages were the best we had during our entire vacation.

08/03/2025: Attended a function in this hotel on the 7th of Mar 25 and I was wearing a party dress and high heels. As such I had brought flat shoes with me. Later in the night I went to my car in the car park and asked my partner to come with me because there was a steep slope up and I didn't was to fall. As I sat into the car to change my shoes the manager on duty approached us very aggressively and his opening statement was "Get off these premises doing that". I asked him was he speaking to us and could he repeat. He did and it escalated into a nightmare. He had accused us of doing drugs in the car park that people had seen us and reported us. I repeatedly reminded him of the severity of his accusations and after a short time my partner went to reception to report his behaviour and again he was approached aggressively and this time he told another employee to leave them that he would deal with this and then refused to make a note for his manager. Needless to say this matter is not over. The hotel itself was nice but the food was very disappointing and poor service meant our dinners were just not acceptable. Food was cold, sauce was beginning to form a skin by the time it arrived at our table. This was an absolute nightmare at a family function.

27/01/2025: Absolutely beautiful place with amazing staff. Nothing is ever too much. Amazing food and selection of drinks with a friendly service.

07/12/2024: Facilitated family 30th birthday and nothing was a problem. Service was great, as usual, food again as always was brilliant. Would recommend for any occasion. Price extremely reasonable for a party of 7 adults and 1.5 children for food and drinks/alcoholic drinks.
