11/12/2025: Amazing pizza, wood fired, great all round and at a good price. Small seating area upstairs, but not cramped, music might be a little loud though. Service was solid, friendly staff and food came pretty quickly. Overall a great spot, ill be back

25/12/2025: This is one of those hidden (even though it’s off the end of the N22 ) in Ballincollig is Desmond’s Bar. The locals call it the Ovens Bar. Christmas Eve was a beautiful, quiet but busy experience at this local gem. As soon as we walked in you could feel the warmth of the fire as the locals gathered around the bar close to the fire. With a Christmas tree beautifully decorated in the far corner drinking a very nice pint of Carling and listening/watching the world’s best 70’s & 80’s music videos. I can’t give any food rating b/c I did not have any but if the atmosphere is as good at it was I’d say the care they put into the atmosphere the food can’t be too far behind. You will enjoy this little place tucked away at the west end of the village. Enjoy.

13/12/2025: We stopped in glengarriff for some breakfast and checked out a few different spots that we saw on Google maps. A few of them were closed so it came down to Sugarloaf Cafe or the lough afoul inn. A quick look at the lough inn's prices made us slowly back away, and as we were doing so the owner came out and called out some incoherent ramblings about soup and breakfast in quite a confrontational way. This, needless to say, converted our backing away into a swift shuffle into Sugarloaf Cafe. Best decision of the day! The lovely, cozy, friendly atmosphere made our morning. The service and food were outstanding but the star of the experience was the warm and welcoming owner who had us smiling and laughing throughout our meal! Despite having 3 tables to serve when we were there, she made time to make conversation with everyone and made us all feel comfortable. Combined with the far more reasonable pricing than the establishment over the road and this experience confirmed 2 repeat customers. If you're looking for a friendly relaxing dining experience in glengarriff the Sugarloaf Cafe is a must try!

13/10/2025: My husband and I had a fabulous dinner at Murphy’s Restaurant in Castletownbere. We started with an excellent prawns and chorizo appetizer and then had the duck dinner and the leg of lamb dinner. We finished with the pavlova. Each dinner had plentiful sides of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, green beans and red cabbage. Everything was fresh, abundant and delicious. Service was very good. We had a lovely chat with the 3rd generation chef/owner who not only cooked a great meal but also made some nice recommendations for our trip. We very highly recommend Murphy’s to everyone coming to the Beara Peninsula.

We had a very good breakfast; the portions are quite large, and some options even include coffee and tea, also in generous amounts. We will definitely return. 01/02/2026: Had a really lovely experience here. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the food and the overall experience. We’ll definitely be back and would happily recommend it to others.

18/01/2026: The back bar is a lovely cosy bar. The staff are friendly and the food, especially the fish, is very fresh and well prepared. They have a couple of fireplaces that are lit in winter are very warm and cosy. And free WiFi.
