28/05/2026: “Lovely café with both outdoor seating with umbrellas and a comfortable indoor seating area. The coffee is very good, prices are fair and actually better than many nearby places. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is always welcoming. They also have the Squid app loyalty system where every 10th coffee is free — a small thing, but it makes customers happy. The only downside is that because the café is very popular, there can sometimes be a longer wait for coffee during busy hours. A larger coffee machine with more groups would definitely help. Overall, highly recommended!”

29/06/2026: Enjoyed a gorgeous lunch here over the weekend. The service was excellent, great portions and our food was delicious. Huge range of desserts and beautiful wine! Highly recommend for lunch or dinner in Bandon. Loved the interior also and there's a great view of Bandon's new streetscape from the window seats!

08/04/2026: This is a great place for good food, friendly service and a casual atmosphere. I met a few friends for lunch here the other day - I arrived after they had already ordered as it was a last minute gathering. The waiter was so kind and welcoming - recommended the steak sandwich and they had my food ready in time to come out with the others. Everybody at our table loved their food - I had the steak sandwich, which was amazing. One of our friends had the steak burger - which was an absolute beast! Bigger than her, I'd say - but very instagrammable! She ate the whole thing so it must have been really good!

18/07/2026: I stopped in here the last evening not expecting much but was very surprised by the quality of the food. The burgers are freshly made not from frozen. Quality ingredients and the chips are delicious too. Very reasonably priced. Friendly staff and a huge menu to choose from but not overwhelming. Highly recommend visiting here if visiting Skib.

24/11/2025: Truly incredible food. We ordered 5 different dishes to share and everything tasted so fresh, flavorful and inventive. We were especially impressed with the veggie-focused dishes, but everything was delicious. The staff was also warm and welcoming. Highly recommend this place!

28/06/2026: I had just poped in looking for a bit of linch, and from the moment I arrivedcto the moment I left, the staff couldnt have been nicer. Its a lovely place. The menu is varied and suits mosts tastes, albiet, I would have liked a vegitarian main. The food I got was delicious and I noted the generous portion size. All the staff were attentive, good natured and extreemly professional. Im looking forward to returning.

15/02/2026: Stayed in Castletownbere for a week. First two evenings we tried to eat there but they had a special event both nights. Finally on our 3rd time a charm the last night we were there we ate at Murphys. Saved the best for last. Great food and service and the owner is a really great guy that is very knowledgeable about the area and history of the area. He will give you great advice about the must hits of the Beara Peninsula.

13/10/2025: My husband and I had a fabulous dinner at Murphy’s Restaurant in Castletownbere. We started with an excellent prawns and chorizo appetizer and then had the duck dinner and the leg of lamb dinner. We finished with the pavlova. Each dinner had plentiful sides of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, green beans and red cabbage. Everything was fresh, abundant and delicious. Service was very good. We had a lovely chat with the 3rd generation chef/owner who not only cooked a great meal but also made some nice recommendations for our trip. We very highly recommend Murphy’s to everyone coming to the Beara Peninsula.

13/12/2025: We stopped in glengarriff for some breakfast and checked out a few different spots that we saw on Google maps. A few of them were closed so it came down to Sugarloaf Cafe or the lough afoul inn. A quick look at the lough inn's prices made us slowly back away, and as we were doing so the owner came out and called out some incoherent ramblings about soup and breakfast in quite a confrontational way. This, needless to say, converted our backing away into a swift shuffle into Sugarloaf Cafe. Best decision of the day! The lovely, cozy, friendly atmosphere made our morning. The service and food were outstanding but the star of the experience was the warm and welcoming owner who had us smiling and laughing throughout our meal! Despite having 3 tables to serve when we were there, she made time to make conversation with everyone and made us all feel comfortable. Combined with the far more reasonable pricing than the establishment over the road and this experience confirmed 2 repeat customers. If you're looking for a friendly relaxing dining experience in glengarriff the Sugarloaf Cafe is a must try!

18/05/2026: An authentic pub with very nice and friendly service. We had delicious mussels from the local Kenmare Bay and a Guinness 0.0 on tap. It tastes really good for a non-alcoholic beer. MacCarthy's is definitely a must-visit if you're in Castleberetown.
