The best restaurants in Cork

06/07/2025: While on a trip to Kinsale, a harbour town outside of Cork City, we popped into Kitty O Sheas for a bite to eat. The food was excellent, and when the live music started, we ended up staying for another few hours washing down the food with cold beers. The staff were great, as was the atmosphere.

30/06/2025: Stopped for a pint and to listen to the music. It was crowded and loud, which was to be expected. We did not order food, so I cannot comment on the food or service.

19/07/2025: Had a delicious lunch here - fresh hake in a mussel veloute with broccoli and a potato/colcannon cake followed by apple pie and coffee. Good sized portions and all very well presented. Service was friendly and helpful and smiley. We will return.

24/06/2025: I arrived at 10.30am- guest on way. Sunny & warm morning. Asked to sit outside. The manager was it seems, cut short. Outside wasn’t ready or cleaned, but he ‘ could serve us,( v unwelcoming or nice.) - take a seat’. 20mins later, we had to go to counter, at least to get us coffees. Eggs Benedict - arrived on dry toast with barely a teaspoon of Benedict sauce scraped on. Bacon was good. But all so dry. A cute lil hen hung around our chairs most of the time. And left two big deposits 😖.waitress noticed and although didn’t want to step on it, did nothing. We moved to a bench on the green in car pk area to finish our second coffees. Not impressed at all.

07/07/2025: Staff - mostly friendly with one exception. Visited here on Thursday evening - the place pecks itself as dog friendly - but doesn’t like it if you bring your dog along. We held the dog outside and went in to ask for a seat and were met by a very abrupt lady (short, heavy set, blond hair, mid 50s) who told us if the food outside is open you can sit there - there were already people seated there -so we went to take an unoccupied table and she came out in a huff loudly announcing - you can’t sit there and asked us to move to the main entrance side seating and then changed her mind and walked us back. No apologies, no regard for my elderly parents - just downright rude and unprofessional - for no reason at all. I went back later to ask if I could plug in my laptop for a while and was met by the same ill mannered woman - who said all the sockets were in use - in my 25yrs of living in Ireland - this woman defo has won the First Prize for the worst service and attitude I’ve encountered. Food - we ordered sharing wings to start - they were tasty and enough for three people. Two of us ordered the chicken supreme - chicken was undercooked and side of veg was boiled for so long that the vegetables were full of water and had zero flavour. Fish and chips were good as was the pea puree. They did not have any juices except OJ. But the staff who served us were pleasant and attentive, so we left them a decent tip and agreed never to return.

12/07/2025: Lovely cafe. Quality coffee. Staff v professional and friendly. Its does a great trade so sometimes expect to wait just a few mins for your coffee when it's very busy.

07/07/2025: Wonderful high-end espresso drinks and the best scones we’ve ever had! The lemon drizzle scone was absolutely perfect.

06/05/2025: Good cheese burger delivered quickly by 2 hardworking servers at a reasonable price of 4.50E. With a smile and attention to customer service.

27/06/2025: So happy I found a shop that delivers good organic products in Ireland. After 4 orders, I've never been disappointed. Everything is always carefully packed, no damage to the products from Bantry to Dublin and nothing is ever missing. Thank youuuu.

09/07/2025: A very enjoyable stay. We stayed 4 nights. The hotel is rated 3 star and it is a good quality 3 star hotel. Rooms were clean, the extra large bed was very comfortable, there was a good shower (in the bath) with plenty of hot water. Staff are pleasant and helpful. We only had breakfast during our stay as we were out and about each day and ate while on our travels. Usual offering at breakfast cereal, fruit salad, breads, danish and cooked options. The breakfast was consistently good each morning and we tried a few things and it was always delicious We were in room 110 which is at the back of the hotel and there was noise from what we guessed was either a plant room or a kitchen fan which started early (after six am) and shut off late (10/11 PM) I had read this on a previous review so came prepared with ear plugs which helped. This was the only thing that took from our stay and why I dropped a star on the review.

07/07/2025: Windows don’t open all of the way, there is no ac, curtains have to be closed if at the front of the hotel bc of streetlight and there is one very very very small fan and the pillows if adding insult to injury are flat!

09/06/2025: Only available for a tour of the house. Beautiful grounds, very well-maintained garden. The house is clearly in need of renovation, but that doesn't detract from its charm. Unfortunately, no photos allowed inside.

07/07/2025: There is potential here, but it’s a miss overall for me. Reservations require a CC to hold, which is fine, but sets the expectation for a somewhat elevated experience - which this was not. Let’s start with the best part, the service! Service team was welcoming, attentive and wonderful. 😁👍The food was mediocre at best. We ordered the short ribs, the rib-eye steak, and the dirty mash and grilled vegetable sides. Steak was decently cooked, poorly seasoned, and the peppercorn sauce left some room for improvement. The shirt ribs were okay, sauce wasn’t well rounded. They could have been so much better. The grilled vegetables were rough! The aubergines were slimy and limp (steamed before grilling?), the corn was served with a large portion of the cob still on in an awkward way, the peppers were like the aubergine, limp and overcooked, especially for a “grilled” prep. The dirty mash side was good, but I had the gravy on the side and I’m soooo glad I did, because it was way too sweet. You can’t cover up poor gravy with sugar. We decided not to stay for dessert. The atmosphere has potential, but was a miss. The playlist for me was the biggest problem, think of a whole rock playlist based on the song Loser by Beck, just kinda killed the elevated dinner vibe that I would suggest they go for. The music would have been fitting for a pub lunch maybe. Another suggestion - plants. Not a single living plant in the place, no fresh flowers, nothing. There was a chalk board, with nothing on it. ☹️. Suggest putting special here or if no specials, maybe a suggested pairing or dessert highlight, anything other than the sad blank board. Anyway, these are fixable things, but they probably will need to be addressed if they want to compete in the Kinsale scene, which is full of fantastic options.

27/06/2025: Main dining room has a wonderful ambiance. Staff were very friendly and gave just the right amount of attention to us. Food was delicious! We had langoustine and chicken liver pate to start followed by the pork chop and hake for main course with a side of the charred cabbage. Good wine list and some non-alcoholic options too. The Irish strawberry cheese was fabulously light and not too sweet. Overall, a lovely dinner.

05/07/2025: Absolute gem of a mainly seafood restaurant. Fish was some of the best we had and lovely venue for a group of people. Highly recommended!
