25/08/2026: Very tasty food. Fabulous pear and goat's cheese empanadas.

23/08/2026: Spent a few days doing some volunteer work, today was our journey home. We decided to take things easy, reward ourselves and who could ignore the beautiful weather. A visit to Spike Island, meant that we had to plan lunch nearby. I remembered Bramley Lodge from when I lived in Cork almost 20 years ago, Google, menu looked good. So I rang and booked a table for 3. It had changed and expanded since I was last there. Outdoor seating areas, some covered, others just with parasols. Bigger carpark. Seated with ease, glasses and water on our table closely followed by amazing menus. We had cheated and looked online during our morning drive, the menu lived up to form. My 2 amigos had already chosen before I had completed the phone call to make the booking. The Food. Seafood Chowder, main course size: "If you can see many different seafood (and several are almost attempting to climb out of the bowl" That's a really good chowder. When the diner is using the crust of the homemade brown bread to clean the bowl. Well.... Pasta, of course I bring someone who lived in Italy for over a decade, and at 10am in the morning I'm being asked about the pasta. (I'm still hoping that we can get a table.) So I can with confidence say, from the guy who lived in Italy, "that is one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had, right up there with my favourite Rome and Italian meals . Me, I was just busy, finding somewhere to eat, making sure we made it the boat on time, trying to find free parking. Well you know you have done it. I had to read the menu. As a retired chef, I do read the small print. I was still undecided, because there were so many options that I wished to taste. But waiter taking the order, I opted for the Seafood Skewers, not just something I had never tried before, something I had not seen on a menu before. Well I offered my compatriots would you like to taste, before I even tried myself. They declined. They did not get a second chance. I realised as I was finishing my delicious food that all three of us, ate our meal, together, without the need for conversation. Excellent food, form my memory, it was great, today, I'll make it simple, We all 3 will be back.

19/07/2026: The food great here the have a student saver box. The sausages are all different and delishpus and so is there potatoes. the people make it too. Makes a huge difference when people are passionate about your food.

16/07/2026: We stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting Cork. My wife and children wanted to try it, and we weren't disappointed! The staff was very friendly, and the selection was impressive! The hot dogs were beautiful, large, and delicious!

08/08/2026: We had a lovely evening at Mary Ann’s. Highly recommend this place. Service was friendly and prompt. The pints and meals were perfect! We had the pints in the garden and then moved inside for dinner. We enjoyed excellent scallops and hake dishes. We made a reservation.

07/08/2026: We by chance came upon Mary Ann's today in Castletownshend and oh my goodness the food is out of this world! We're Irish, from Dublin and we brought our friends to West Cork for the first time, and we all agreed it's the best food we've had so far! For me, the mussels were the best I've ever had. My husband had the open crab sandwich which was insanely good and everyone else had the chowder which were devoured by all the kids!! The pub is one of those gorgeous oldy worldy pubs with so much character. The staff were so attentive and friendly. It was €65 per family including alcohol which was incredible value. You need to go out of your way to eat here! You will be very happy you did.

17/08/2026: Outstanding service, value, and food. Highly recommend for anyone in the area to pop in and have a quick starter / drink or full course. Suitable for all ages and a brilliant atmosphere, server James was very accommodating.

14/08/2026: A very reasonable price for the summer season (aug 26). Walk to pier, cliff and other pubs and restaurants. Great location to explore cliff walk and I used as a base night before visiting the local cooking school. Breakfast to order and options for all. I spent an hour in the bar the night before and there was a local atmosphere, friendly staff and a card game ongoing. Good Murphy⁩s and a few interesting whiskeys from middleton. Did not have dinner there on this occasion due to other commitments.

05/08/2026: The first fish and chips ive ever had. Amazing looking restaurant with great staff, pretty large portions. Recommend it. 50e for 3 people

22/08/2026: A fantastic pub with great staff . We recently had a small event here and where treated so well by everyone. The food was great the pints where aswell. This is a must visit if your in the area .

15/08/2026: Food is tasty and portions are HUGE. Even though the portions are big, the prices are not extortionate, which makes it more appealing to go there. The only issue we had when we were there was the waitress took the food order but never asked us of we wanted any drinks. We had to call her over to order them in the end because she wasn't planning on coming back.

17/06/2026: Excellent food in a pub style atmosphere. More upscale than the usual pub fare. Vegetarian options. Go early or book - it was full by 18:00.

14/06/2026: Stayed in room 2 for one night with my wife .... lovely staff rooms were great ... location is amazing with lots to see around... was very noisy outside at night but thats only because the town is very busy nothing connected to the hotel ... would definitely return and recommend

02/06/2026: This is a truly local Irish pub. Great, eclectic decor. Very traditional and homey with lots of regulars coming in. Drinks only. Nice covered outdoor area, too. Absolutely worth stopping in for a pint!

15/08/2026: Lovely place. Eaten here a few times over the past 3 weeks with colleagues. 95% of the time we had no issues with the food. The meals have been tasty everytime but the portions are small.

12/08/2026: Great spot for food. We had the sausage and mash which was delicious. Desserts were delicious too. Staff attentive and friendly.

20/07/2026: We had an absolutely fabulous time at Bastion with their tasting menu! Every single course was delicious, inventive, and unique to anything we’ve tried before. The service was top notch, Helen was so welcoming and helpful with her recommendations as she guided us along our tasting journey. We’ve been to multiple Michelin restaurants and I honestly would put the food and service against any of them. Throughly enjoyed everything all the way through the “sweet treats” at the end. Only one caveat, it is a long tasting with the 8 courses stretching over 2.5 hours, but every dish kept us wanting more.

13/05/2026: We came for the set menu on a weekday and the restaurant was relatively quiet. Overall I enjoyed the meal and my personal favourite was the langoustine course, which was light and the langoustine was super fresh. The courses that I didn’t enjoyed was the fish with the prawn broth (v salty) and the main paired with the beetroot sauce and Szechuan pepper - somehow it over complicates the dish and the combination don’t work. One of the course was a round croissant served with some beautiful Irish butter - but again I’m happy with a simple good warm bread that could highlight the flavour of the butter .. instead of putting butter on a croissant that’s already made with a lot of butter.

28/05/2026: “Lovely café with both outdoor seating with umbrellas and a comfortable indoor seating area. The coffee is very good, prices are fair and actually better than many nearby places. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is always welcoming. They also have the Squid app loyalty system where every 10th coffee is free — a small thing, but it makes customers happy. The only downside is that because the café is very popular, there can sometimes be a longer wait for coffee during busy hours. A larger coffee machine with more groups would definitely help. Overall, highly recommended!”

13/07/2026: A gem of a restaurant in West Cork, fish a speciality. Superb location on the pier. The drive alone to the restaurant is amazing and worth it

28/06/2026: Amazing food, amazing service, our server was so lovely and absolutley amazing with our picky eater kids! Really good value and such a beautiful place. My toddler who wont eat any food finished the whole bowl of soup, that is a miracle!!! We will defiently be back for lots of soup for him 🥰 Highly reccommend!
