11/01/2026: Was there last night with my husband, we went to hear a really good group of musicians play. Enjoyed it but we encountered three of the most grumpiest barmen ever, no smiles, no chit-chat, nothing, sour faces instead, I can understand one but seriously three of them!! Place was quiet and we were sitting at the bar, but not once did they ask us did we want a refill, we could have sat there all night with empty glasses and they wouldn't have noticed or cared. It was 9.50 for the smallest glass of wine ever. For those reasons we won't be back, we left after a while and went down to the Harold House, much nicer, good music, friendly barmen and cheaper drink!!

14/11/2025: This is a place we always go to. The service is quick and friendly, the food and prices are standard, and the pub is spacious enough for all kinds of events. We live nearby and love coming here.

30/11/2025: Really stuck for something nice to eat always went here if we where in the city not anymore soup and toasted sandwich 25 euro ok a bit pricey toastie was burned on one side and not melted on the other and the soup was salted out really poor food

27/12/2025: After staying at the Ghan House in October 2024, we decided to have our wedding party there: We had our wedding at Ghan House with 70 guests on a Friday in early September 2025, and we honestly couldn’t have chosen a better venue. From the very beginning, communication during planning – and on the day itself – was excellent. The team was incredibly accommodating and made all of our requests and wishes possible in a reasonable and professional way. The service and staff were outstanding, including impeccable time keeping on the day. Everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully enjoy ourselves. The venue itself is stunning – the house and garden are beautiful and create such a special atmosphere. Ghan House really feels like a sanctuary right in the centre of Carlingford, which is especially valuable on busy weekends when the town can turn into a crazy stag-party hotspot. One huge plus was that all guests could stay within walking distance, and it’s also just a short walk to St. Michael’s Church, which made logistics incredibly easy. The location is ideal for activities the day before or after the wedding – we enjoyed a hike to Slieve Foye, sauna time at Hot Box, golfing, and even joining the stag-party chaos at PJ’s for those who wanted it. The venue has a real house-party vibe, with different rooms to move between (bar room, fireplace room, etc.), which our guests absolutely loved. We received so many compliments on the atmosphere – everyone had an amazing time. Food was another highlight: very good quality, with excellent vegetarian and vegan options (plenty and well thought out). We chose the buffet, with starters and desserts served, which worked perfectly. The breakfast the next morning was also amazing. Also we were able to bring our own wine (for a corkage fee). In short: don’t hesitate – book it!! Ghan House exceeded all our expectations and gave us a wedding day we (and our guests) will never forget. 29/12/2025: Highly recommended, to be honest. The food was well prepared, the portions were generous, and the service was incredibly friendly. Two people had three courses, three beers, and a Coke for €61. The place is very small, but pleasant.

20/12/2025: Perfect stop off if coming from Sligo to Dublin. Ordered for breakfast Avocado Bread with Poached Eggs,Penaut etc.Food is great but for me little spicy. Freshly made, good quality and reasonably priced with great coffee and service. Quality food and great service.
