07/05/2026: Food exactly as described- we did feel we had walked into a staff dispute! Odd atmosphere- couldn’t quite put my finger on it just a bit chill….

03/05/2026: Had a great experience at this restaurant! I ordered the fish and chips, and they were absolutely spot on . super fresh, crispy on the outside, and perfectly flaky on the inside. I also tried the soup, which was just as impressive and fresh, full of flavor, and clearly made with quality ingredients. You can really taste the care in the food here. Definitely worth a visit!

11/06/2026: We had a wonderful experience in Hunters hotel . We stayed for two nights and had breakfast and dinner . Rooms were beautiful and the food was delicious. I cannot fault this hotel in any way. I would highly recommend it for old fashioned charm and courtesy. We were treated so well by Katha and Eva who are both a credit to this wonderful establishment. Of course the gardens are an absolute delight. We can't wait to return .

25/05/2026: The absolute best hotel on our tour of Ireland! Completely uniquely decorated, super friendly service, and top-notch cuisine. It had a bit of a Miss Marple film feel to it :-)

14/05/2026: Meal out was fantastic here tonight. Lovely mushroom starter and the scampi was top notch for a main course. My partner loved the roast beef. Yummy brownie for desert. There's a lovely atmosphere with great service. Lovely selection of wine also. Highly recommend.

20/05/2026: A grand hotel, except we were so disappointed when myself and my wife and our adult son arrived back from a show around midnight and were refused a night cap drink in the bar by a very ignorant bar man who informed us that we could order a drink in the hotel lobby but we would have to wait 30 minutes. Then the girl at reception told us we could only order drinks from our room. We did so and our drinks arrived in 15 minutes and paid the exorbitant price of 42 euros for 2 whiskeys and a pint of Guinness. I should say it left a bitter taste in my mouth about the staff and service in this hotel.☹️

19/05/2026: We had an excellent stay. The staff on reception were fantastic and very friendly. The room was fantastic. Food was excellent. Highly recommend the house burger. Staff in the bar/restaurant were fantastic and very friendly. Breakfast had a wide selection and food was fantastic. Staff were fantastic and friendly. Highly recommend The Talbot for a fabulous stay.

11/06/2026: I am writing this review specifically because of one of your staff members Becca. Vibrant fun and full of energy - I have years of experience working in hospitality and also attending weddings and she is genuinely a super star and knows how to engage and have fun. Best of luck with everything and do not lose your shine! In terms of the venue I was blown away I fell in love with it, and within seconds knew we will be booking this venue for our big day I would say service was good, friendly and experienced. Again Becca stole the show - nothing worse than an NPC serving at a wedding and becca was the main character (bar the bride and groom) not a paid ad. Just seriously impressed.

25/05/2026: Called in for fish and chips at Tigh Mheaic and wasn't disappointed. The fish was excellent, fresh and properly cooked. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere on top of that. Well worth a stop if you're in Carna.

28/05/2026: Visited with my family for food and drinks only, not the hotel stay. The location and views are absolutely beautiful — on a sunny day it genuinely felt more like being somewhere in Spain than Ireland. The atmosphere and seaside setting are definitely the highlight of this place. Unfortunately, the food and service did not match the location. The prices were quite high for the quality received — for example, the fish of the day with chips was €23 and quite disappointing. We also had to ask twice for additional drinks and the order was still ignored, which made the experience frustrating. Overall, a lovely place for the views and atmosphere, but the food and service need improvement.

14/05/2026: The food was delicious and really enjoyable, but the service let the experience down. Our food arrived before our drinks, and we could see the drinks sitting on a tray at the bar for around ten minutes. At one point I was very tempted to collect them myself. When I asked about them, the waitress said she would go check, which was a bit frustrating given it was 4pm on a Thursday and not busy. The food itself was very good, but the service needs more attention and organisation.

08/06/2026: Absolutely the best pork chop I’ve had in my life. I will never forget it—I closed my eyes for most bites so I could savor it. We asked for a recommendation for dessert and it was ridiculously amazing. The flavors were incredible. The chocolate was so rich it was plenty for four of us to split since we all were full from our incredible meals. Others in our party got a fish entree they loved and the sauce that it came in was so fantastic they used the extra bread to finish it off! 10/10 We will be back next year. 06/06/2026: We had a very odd experience here. We came during our honeymoon after several people recommended we visit while in Galway, but from the moment we arrived, the service felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. We arrived at 6:04 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation, and from the initial interaction with the host/server, we felt as though we were somehow in trouble. After reading other reviews, it seems that unfriendly service may not be an isolated issue. I’ve have never left a negative restaurant review before, but our experience warranted one. A couple seated next to us, who arrived after we did, received their meals significantly sooner than we did. In fact, they had already finished their mains and were ordering dessert before our entrees even arrived. I ordered the steak, which was served with a single slice of tomato on top. The couple next to us ordered the same dish, and theirs came with multiple slices of tomato as an accompaniment. I understand that presentation can vary, but the difference between one slice and several seemed unusually inconsistent. My wife ordered the scallops and received only three scallops. Photos online clearly show the same dish being served with noticeably more. I understand portion sizes can vary, but the difference was substantial enough to stand out. After our plates were cleared, we sat for approximately 10–15 minutes without anyone checking on us. Apparently, the server asked my wife about dessert while I was in the restroom, but when I returned, we waited another five minutes before I finally had to ask for the bill myself. Throughout the evening, we felt largely ignored. Looking back, I don’t believe anyone ever asked how our meals were. My family owns a restaurant, so I understand that service can suffer when staff are overwhelmed. That wasn’t the case here. The server walked past our table multiple times and never once acknowledged us or checked in. Out of habit from the United States, I still left a generous tip, but in hindsight I wish I hadn’t. We left feeling genuinely disappointed by the cold and dismissive service. It was certainly not the dining experience we had hoped for during our honeymoon in Galway.

09/03/2026: Fabulous in house restaurant. Casual atmosphere with a great menu. We had a later dinner and enjoyed everything we ordered. The pie of the week was chicken and mushroom and was delicious! Highly recommend

24/05/2026: In addition to good beer options, they have small food and cocktail menus but quite good options on both. We're regular fans of the chicken tacos and the old fashioned. Outdoor area is great during summer, and inside is snuggly and warm during winter. The attached off license has some really great options including the best selection of canned cocktails we've found.
