19/08/2026: Very nice setting, I had the hash which just could have done with a runny egg to add moisture or a couple of tomatoes, a hard egg left everything a tad on the dry side.

09/09/2026: Great grub and atmosphere, we stop here at least once a month, portions are generous and the prices are decent. Would definitely recommend to stop there on the way out of the city.

06/09/2026: The restaurant is in a beautiful location in blackrock observatory on the cork harbour. It is a 15min taxi which is between 15 to 25 euro each way. The staff are wonderful very friendly and accommodating. Getting the steak and lamb cooked a little more to my dad's and aunt's liking. The food is amazing. We all got different starters, mains and desserts and everything down to the sides that accompany them were well taught out. The restaurant was quiet busy but the atmosphere and service were 5 star the whole night long. We will definitely be going again for another special night out.

27/06/2026: The best cafe in the area, tasty food, good atmosphere and all that with the best prices. The only problem is they don't have any space so try not to come at peak times.

14/07/2026: What a wonderful evening! My friend from Westport invited me here, and I was genuinely impressed. The food was outstanding from start to finish. I chose the special of the day – halibut with a lobster bisque – and it was absolutely delicious. I especially loved that they even brought me an extra jug of the bisque, which was such a lovely touch. The starter was equally delicious: perfectly cooked scampi served on a fresh salad. The restaurant itself is quite small, which gives it a warm, intimate atmosphere. I felt very comfortable throughout the evening, and the service was friendly and attentive. If I’m back in Castlebar, I will definitely come here again. Highly recommended!

03/07/2026: We picked Dinning Room as a restaurant for our small wedding meal. From the start Shirley was so accomodating with times, they designed a custom menu especially for our occasion which was a lovely touching gesture. The food was amazing every dish tasted amazing from the bread to starters, mains and desserts. Staff were lovely and kind, very professional. The restaurant itself is a lovely small intimate place great for a special occasion to celebrate. Lovely touch also from Kevin taking time to come out and talk to us. Lovely people, beautiful restaurant and the most amazing food.

05/08/2026: The Top House is a great pub. Donal and his young team behind the bar are very friendly and professional. They pro-actively seek out customers looking to be served, unlike some other local barstaff who try to avoid eye contact at all costs. It's clear that Donal puts in considerable effort in training, developing and coaching his team who aspire to develop the skills that you would see in the busiest and best pubs around the world (especially in the US). They are also very good at judging whether to have the sport on in the background or, if it's a big match, play the commentary and make it an occasion! The food is really excellent - especially the fish and chips. I'm also a regular for their breakfast - which is great - served quickly and fresh. The pub also has a separate area for events which can comfortably cater for at least 60 people. We held a family birthday there recently - which went really well. They coped with a large food order without a problem, and all the alcohol prices are maintained at pub level rather than the premium you would pay in any restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend the Top House for a quiet drink with friends and family, or to celebrate a big occasion.

11/09/2026: We had our Day 2 of our wedding in Mervyn’s yard From start to finish, everything was absolutely amazing. The staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They really helped make the day so special for us and our families. The food was absolutely incredible too — everyone commented on how lovely everything was, and we couldn’t have asked for better. We really appreciate all the hard work that went on behind the scenes to make sure everything ran so smoothly. It was the perfect way to continue our wedding celebrations, and we will have such lovely memories of the day. The food was great and plentiful, the music created such a great atmosphere, and we felt so well looked after throughout by Tara and the team. 01/09/2026: We had our Day 2 at The Drift Inn, mostly using the back patio. It was a perfect space, the staff were so accommodating and friendly, they sorted us out with a microphone and speakers for our pub quiz. The food was great. Would recommend!

23/08/2026: We had my boyfriends 40th here. We hired the boat for 4 hours for drinks and it really was an unbelievable night. Very special experience. Everything was perfect. The staff on this boat are brilliant, they looked after us so well.

29/08/2026: The Dungeon is another restaurant at Ashford Castle and a completely different experience from the more formal places. It has the atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub — very relaxed, cozy and absolutely casual. No need to dress up at all, which is actually very nice for a change. The food was really delicious. We ate very well and the service was excellent too. And of course I have to mention the onion rings — my favourite — they were absolutely excellent! 😄 One important thing: definitely book in advance. The restaurant is quite small and there are not many tables, so it can easily be full. We really enjoyed our dinner here. Simple, cozy, very Irish, great service and very good food. Definitely recommend it during your stay at Ashford Castle! Absolutely worth trying, especially if you want a relaxed and casual evening

12/06/2026: Well. What an amazing place. The staff are so hard working. The beer is chilled. The atmosphere is epic. And the food is wonderful. I just had the best curry I’ve ever had and I worked with ghurkas in a former life. I’d give this place 100 stars if I could. Just wonderful.

17/08/2026: We honestly cannot recommend Taphouse highly enough. We had our wedding party here and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The team were incredible; attentive, professional and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we and our guests had a wonderful time. Nothing was too much trouble, and their attention to detail made the whole experience completely stress-free. The atmosphere was perfect, relaxed and welcoming, but still felt really special. Our guests loved it, and we received so many lovely comments afterwards. The food was excellent and everything came out beautifully. There was a great selection, the quality was fantastic, and the team were brilliant at making sure everyone was looked after. The drinks were also great, and the service was second to none. Most importantly, Taphouse gave us the perfect setting to relax and celebrate our day with our friends and family. A huge thank you to the whole team for helping make our day so memorable. We couldn’t have chosen a better place for our wedding party and would recommend Taphouse to anyone.

16/08/2026: Good food, great staff, fun atmosphere.

20/08/2026: Stopped off for lunch today passing through Tralee. Food was typical bar food but good. Staff were very polite and helpful. 100€ for 4 mains, 1 dessert and 2 soft drinks, average value but decent portions. Would definitely stop there again.
