19/08/2025: Enjoyed a nice pint of stout on a Sunday morn to start the day off.

18/08/2025: Food was pretty good, steak overdone. Live music every night. They are busy so service kept up but could be slow at times.

21/08/2025: Nice change from fancy or fast food . It's quaint not sweet quaint, cozy place to meet and have comfort foods and beer. Prices are very good Quality of food was very good and tasty. Food was hot and fresh. Locals were eating there also!!! Don't forget to tip the waitress, they work hard and are very good.

28/08/2025: There's no admission charge. There's an outdoor area you can use. I had to order beer inside. You can order (or sample) different types of Guinness there. The music is a bit loud, but what the heck, it's a lot for a very good beer :)

15/08/2025: Food was awful, I ordered a medium steak and I was brought a well cooked steak instead, my partner ordered a prawn tagliatelle dish which had about 5 small prawns in it. Menu options were very limited. I added a request to my booking saying it was my partners birthday, which was completely ignored, I wanted to surprise her with a little birthday desert or something similar. Staff was great, very friendly, very accommodating, very understanding. It was very loud inside the restaurant itself, very hard to talk to or hear the other person.

14/08/2025: The Oar Bar is an absolute gem in Cork. The location is simply amazing, with beautiful views right onto the port. The food was absolutely exquisite, every dish was a delight, clearly made with high-quality ingredients and a lot of care. The service was equally impressive; very attentive and welcoming without being overbearing. It's the perfect spot for a memorable meal with great scenery. I can't recommend it enough

17/08/2025: Fantastic function room and staff! Mark and Eddy are so sound and professional! I went in a few months ago to book the function room upstairs for my party and they explained the whole process and details regarding prices, food, decorations and DJ. Everyone is very welcoming and accommodating; absolute stars. All the staff, particularly barman Ben are so helpful, calm and kind. Love the wood and design of the space, very beautiful and comfortable whether you want to sit and relax or dance the night away. The playlists they have are solid, and they have disco lights they can put on by request. Food platters are delicious, note that platter is split among several plates (handy for a big party tbh!). The upstairs space is split into two areas connected by archways, and was used for two separate parties our night which we didn't even notice honestly. I never had such a big party before and it was a massive hit! Thanks to the team at Scholars for making it a such a seamless and fun experience. Don't hesitate and book your function at Scholars ASAP. Big fan if you cant tell. I will be back for more parties🤣👏

19/08/2025: Immaculate! If you’re a seafood lover you will enjoy this place, the food is super fresh, the flavours are amazing. The portion was great, I couldn’t finish my mixed seafood platter. The service was perfect, Lucy treated me so well, hospitality was top tier, very friendly, warm and efficient. I have nothing but good things to say. After a long day at work, a meal here was exactly what I needed.

29/07/2025: Sleep like a baby on clouds... when the clouds are made of quicksand The hotel itself makes a decent impression – a friendly welcome, a really good and plentiful breakfast, coffee strong enough to wake the dead (in a good way). But then came the room... and most importantly: the bed. The duvet was less of a blanket than an exercise machine. Anyone who pulls it over themselves at night should be prepared to lose at least 3 liters of sweat the next morning – not because of bad air, but because this blanket is so heavy you could open a sauna underneath it. I briefly considered donating it to the Alps as a mobile avalanche. The mattress? Well... it reminded me of quicksand. You sink at least 40 cm – no matter where you sit down. I lost my wife during the night and only found her again under the fold of the bed when I checked out. If you like adventurous travel, just climb into bed and see what happens. But to be fair: The breakfast was excellent, the staff friendly, and everything clean. However, if you value a restful sleep, you might want to do some strength training beforehand—or bring a rope to anchor yourself in bed.

10/08/2025: Went for lunch with my daughter. I had the special loaded fries it was delicious however my daughter chicken burger wasn't properly cooked. I am only glad she had only taken a couple of bits before she noticed the pink raw chicken. Waitress was apologetic asked if we wanted a replacement which we declined and she returned to the table with a refund and not another word from her or a supervisor anything. Thought it was very bad customer service. We are regular customer in redearth always go there fir breakfast this was our first time having lunch there. Definitely won't be returning.

18/07/2025: Lovely experience. Food and service were excellent. Coffee refresh was a nice touch and the staff were very friendly and helpful in both the restaurant and shop. I'm also very happy with the beautiful lamp that I bought in the shop.
