Quinlan's

Cork
08/06/2026: Quinlans is the real deal. I visited on a Monday evening about 7.30 and had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Itโ€™s very popular for good reason. I had scallops followed by Jake as a main and panna cotta for desert. I was please to find chef had kept the coral on as it is very tasty in my opinion. The hake was very good but I thought slightly under seasoned but I get thatโ€™s a personal thing sometimes. The panna cotta was also great texture but I couldnโ€™t taste any rum in it but all plates were beautifully presented. The staff I encountered were helpful and polite and the service was excellent considering they had more people arrive only to have not enough seating. Some waited, some came back later and some left. They do have a list of specials each day and there is a lovely nod to the history of the family business and their fishing boat providing the best fresh fish of course. As you can see my bill was โ‚ฌ65 for three courses and two glasses of wine which I thought was about right. Book to avoid disappointment and enjoy ๐Ÿ˜
08/06/2026: Beautiful indoor seating. Outstanding service and great food. The Tempura Tiger Prawns were huge and very tasty. They went well with the white wine.

Lough Ree Inn

27/05/2026: I really think this place is a hidden gem. I considered not writing a review because I didn't want to spoil the secret, but I just had to. Apart from the efficient and ever-so-patient staff, the beautiful view through the windows, and the enormous, immaculately-kept terrace, the food is just right: portion size, presentation, and variation. I marked it down a point (pettily, I know) because I sincerely think they need to stock a better selection of beers and whiskeys. Apart from that one rather pedantic point, everything else was spot-on. And I thank them so kindly for holding on to our table after I told them we'd be late. Well done on making our visit memorable - although we live a good hour and twenty minutes away, we plan to return as often as we can!
16/05/2026: Amazing service, the best cod I have ever eaten. The servers were so helpful and attentive. The chicken and lamb in some dishes are halal also, but make sure to ask beforehand. Good price for value. Can have a nice walk after in the park right next to the restaurant.

Highlands Hotel

Glenties
17/06/2026: This Hotel was absolutely outstanding, in a class of it's own. Seriously to die for. The rooms are beautiful set out. The restaurant with as the oak furniture was so tastefully decorated, it's own little coffee shop. The staff were a pleasure to be around. The Highlands Hotel just kept giving and giving. The food was outstanding, my favourite meal there was the mussels in a tomato and herb sauce. The bar manager Tuffer (Christopher) was superb add to to the organisation, a very knowledgeable chap who knows how to run a bar with ease. I would visit the Highlands in a heartbeat and will be going again soon, very soon. Glenties the town is a biscuit tin town. Idyllic with the most beautiful views that stop you in your tracks to take it all in. โญโญโญโญโญ
08/06/2026: I honestly cannot recommend the Highlands Hotel in Glenties highly enough. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, every single member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome and valued. The level of hospitality we received was outstanding and truly set this hotel apart. The entire team deserves recognition! From the restaurant and cafรฉ staff, to the bar staff, housekeeping team, and front desk reception. Every interaction was met with warm smiles, friendliness, and a willingness to help in any way possible. It is rare to find a hotel where every department consistently delivers such excellent service, but the Highlands Hotel does exactly that. The hotel itself was immaculate throughout our stay. Everything was spotlessly clean, fresh, and extremely well maintained. Our room was comfortable and beautifully presented, and we especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of fresh water being provided every single day. What really made our stay special was how much the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. Whether it was helping us arrange taxis, providing local recommendations, answering questions, or simply taking the time to chat and make us feel at home, nothing ever seemed like too much trouble. Their genuine care and attention to guests is something you donโ€™t come across often. A very special mention must go to Paul, who consistently went above and beyond for us throughout our stay. His professionalism, kindness, and dedication to ensuring guests have a fantastic experience did not go unnoticed. He is a real credit to the hotel and played a huge part in making our visit so memorable. The Highlands Hotel perfectly combines excellent accommodation with outstanding customer service. It felt less like staying in a hotel and more like being welcomed into a home. Thanks to the incredible team, our stay in Glenties was unforgettable. Without a doubt, when we return to Glenties next year, we will be staying here. Thank you to everyone for such a wonderful experience. Highly recommended and thoroughly deserving of a 10/10 rating. (Love from all the McGowans) x

The Dining Room at Rathsallagh

Dunlavin
30/03/2026: This is a very unique venue for a wedding, the grounds are beautiful. A venue with character.
02/03/2026: We could not have been happier with our wedding at Rathsallagh House ๐Ÿ˜Š We live in Australia and only saw the venue in person for the first time on our wedding day - but from the start, the communication was super clear and Megan was so friendly that we always felt at ease. We genuinely trusted them to make our special day perfect, and they truly did. The house itself is spectacular. Driving up the avenue, we felt incredibly lucky to be getting married there. We had 70 guests at our wedding which was in the drawing room. We loved the cosy, warm, Christmas atmosphere. What we loved most, though, was the staff. We felt so special and so well looked after all day. Tara was our wedding coordinator on the day and made sure everything ran smoothly. She was supportive, warm and professional โ€” exactly what you hope for on your wedding day. We had the glam room that morning, which was the perfect way to start the day. The room is beautiful and the food was lovely. Our guests are still talking about the two lads behind the bar โ€” they were fantastic all night. The day after the wedding, Nikki kindly and enthusiastically took us on a tour of the house so we could see all the rooms. Our bridal room was amazing โ€” we loved the bath, and enjoying a nice coffee brought to our room. We honestly canโ€™t wait to return and wish we could do it all over again.

Meltdown

Dublin
28/08/2025: I will never visit this place again and you should not, either. However, if you decide to go there, you should definitely double-check your receipt here before paying. First I was charged 25.25 instead of 11.60 but realized only after swiping my card. Then they initiated a refund and charged my card again with the right amount (11.60), so I thought it was OK after all. I only realized on the next day (when the refund arrived) that they decided to "keep the change" and refund only 25.00.
28/08/2025: Really bad drop off from this place. Was previously my favourite space for lunch in Dublin. Unfortunately with massive price increases and a drop in quality itโ€™s not worth it. Ordered the spicy Cajun sandwich and noticed they stopped putting any sauce on it. 12โ‚ฌ for a dry chicken and cheese sandwich is frankly a rip off

Hargadon Bros

Sligo
07/06/2026: Quaint stone-floor pub ๐Ÿฅฐ Taste highlight ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป The best burger ๐Ÿ” on our 14-day road trip ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿปโ€ผ๏ธ ๐Ÿšจ Be sure to reserve 1-2 days in advance! For example, we reserved our table for four for the next day via email. I've never received four replies to an email in less than five minutes! โ˜๐Ÿป That alone deserves a separate award ๐Ÿฅ‡ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Our server even spoke a little German, which has a special charm with the Irish ๐Ÿ˜ For the food โ˜๐Ÿป The H Burger ๐Ÿ” = ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคช The New Yorker ๐Ÿ” = ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคช The Smoked Bacon ๐Ÿ” = ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคช Spaghetti Aiolo + 5+5 extra ๐Ÿค more Carbonara but irrelevant because = โ˜๐Ÿป๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐโ€ผ๏ธ) Anyone who goes there and wants to "feast" on food with a starter + main + 1-3 beers ๐Ÿบ should expect to pay โ‚ฌ50 per person ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป But for the best burger in all of Ireland ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช It's absolutely worth it. However, โ˜๐Ÿป you have to be able to tolerate a noisy environment ๐Ÿ˜‘ which is the only minor drawback in our review. Regarding parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ there: Honestly? This restaurant isn't for those who don't like to walk and always want to park right in front ๐Ÿšช. However, if you're only willing to walk 3-5 minutes, you can park for free from 6:30 PM โ˜๐Ÿปโ€ผ๏ธ in the DUNNES supermarket parking lot ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ and walk there. Maps makes it possible ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜Ž We'd love to come back again sometime!
30/05/2026: Well jesus lord doesn't Jackie know what she's doing, exceptional in every element of hospitality, each item delivered with a smile and side of craic. God bless her I will be back.

The Dail Bar

Galway
12/04/2026: I was pleasantly surprised. The food usually takes a little while, but it's worth it, and the service is very friendly. But if there's one downside, it's the doorโ€”wow! ๐Ÿ˜ณ I sat almost at the entrance and I think I got up seven or eight times to close it because it wouldn't close automatically, and water and wind were getting in, which was quite uncomfortable. Opening and closing it is rather awkward and unintuitive; you practically have to slam it shut, and you hear that every five minutes. It's not pleasant.
07/04/2026: Definitely a must visit. Reserve a table if you're planning to be here on a public holiday or weekend as it can be difficult to get a table. Had a wonderful and amazing roast chicken and bangers and mash. Service was impressive and the ambience was wonderful!

Peploe's

Dublin
15/05/2026: Food was amazing, the orzo and sea bass were done perfectly and the tuna was very fresh as well. the wine that the waiter recommended also complemented the seabass really well. the sticky toffee pudding was good but iโ€™ve had better. highly recommend!
23/04/2026: Great decor and atmosphere. Service is very good and attentive. I had the John Dory but would have preferred a different sauce as it was bland. The roast potato in duck fat side was disappointing. We ordered water. The issue I have was the practice of opening a 2nd bottle of water for the table and pouring some into the glasses without it being asked for. That was disappointing and I felt it was a swizz. Especially when an almost full bottle of water was left unused. Our total bill for 2 was over e200. This included the 2 bottles of water which came to almost e12 which is outrageous. Solely because of this practice I have given a 4 rating.
