24/10/2026: An unforgettable final night of the season 2026 We went to this restaurant in a 200-year-old Irish cottage this evening for their tasting menu. We have been planning on visiting for an age and are simply delighted to have made it before they close for the season. The decor is not pretentious and is an authentic Irish cottage including draughts! The staff are attentive and friendly, the chef is talented and clearly passionate about food. Presentation was superb. The texture of the scallops, bacon, halibut was superb. Wine pairings were well thought out and complementary. Lamb chop perfection, just reduction sublime. And the Irish coffee was one of the best I have ever enjoyed - perfect. Blend of coffee which was hot and cold fresh cream with perfect texture! I look forward with great anticipation to next season. Save me a seat. Tasting menu - 6 courses with wine pairings for four. &115pp plus tip

01/09/2026: I ate here during my camping trip and was very satisfied. The service was quick and very friendly. The food is incredibly delicious, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is great. In the summer, you can sit outside; it's a bit quieter in the back, or if you want to watch the sports broadcasts, you can stay in the front.

28/07/2026: We went to Ballymaloe House last evening for dinner. It is a beautiful old house in a spectacular setting. It has a calm ambience. Which is also embodied in all staff members. We were warmly welcomed and quickly offered a pre dinner drink which we enjoyed in the comfortable drawing room. Dinner itself was a five course feast. We were looked after by David. This young man is an absolute credit to Ballymaloe House. He offered exceptional service and did so with great grace. Every course was beautifully balanced and perfectly cooked. It was wonderful. The particular standouts for me were the Beetroot starter with creamy Labneh & the Carrageen moss pudding. We enjoyed a Bergerac Blanc which was a recommendation from John the Sommelier. We are eager to return and next time we will, hopefully, stay overnight!

17/05/2026: We had an amazing experience here! We spent 3 nights at Ballymaloe and loved every minute. It is an absolutely stunning hotel in the peaceful Irish countryside. The room was clean, beautifully decorated, had heated floors and a heated towel rack, and the comfiest bed! Our room even had a small patio overlooking the gardens. Service was great as well. The morning breakfast was absolutely delicious and the afternoon tea and cake was a nice way to spend an afternoon. We had the 5 course dinner on property one night- which was also delicious. The employees are all so kind and helpful. 10/10 would recommend Ballymaloe to anyone! And would love to come back one day!

17/09/2026: First of all the service was very good, nice atmosphere, I had the prawn fish box my husband had the haddock fish box, these came with chips which were very nice mushy peas and tartar sauce, I picked the prawns out of the batter as it was so thick, the prawns were ok, the haddock was very over cooked, such a shame, my husband did say it to the lady when we were leaving, a shrug of the shoulders and you should have said earlier was the reply. Reading the reviews maybe we were in the wrong chipper.

13/09/2026: Really good food and portion sizes if you're hungry coming down from a hike in the National Park, like us. We had the vegetarian curry and the chicken with the mushroom sauce and it was delicious. Definitely recommend the flavoured cheesecake! Also greatly enjoyed the playlist that was playing!

16/08/2026: Had awesome dinners here years ago and the awesome steaks and chicken wings are well missed they should open back up kitchen. But the toasted sandwiches are delicious but the Arthur Maynes Steak and chicken wings were world class

21/09/2026: Peploe's was truly a perfect dining experience. Everyone was welcoming and yet incredibly professional - sometimes a delicate balance. The manager gave us a quick tour highlighting the amazing artwork, the owner stopped by and proudly shared the history, and our server was attentive yet unobtrusive. Just lovely people! The food was beautifully styled and absolutely delicious. (I've had the great fortune to eat in many fantastic restaurants; my son served as chef de cuisine of a James Beard award-winning restaurant. I share this only to underscore the truly world-class caliber of Peploe's.) Go - you won't regret it.

21/07/2026: Anything I say about The Schoolhouse Hotel will sound like hyperbole, but will, in reality, be understatement. We love this place so much. The building is amazing, the people so attentive and just plain nice. 5 stars. 10/10 would recommend.

16/07/2026: Very nice place and area but you should be careful of the “hidden rules”! You cannot split the bill in more than three ways so I guess they are not welcoming more than three people. Also if you are a smoker and sitting in a table outside you have to “figure out” where you are able to smoke without any sign prohibiting you from! Good luck in finding any more “hidden rules”

29/08/2026: When we visit the shannon we always head to scariff and McNamaras. His food is always good and so well priced. Quality is always good. Drinks are also a good price.

21/05/2026: The hotel is a wonderful place, historic. The food they offer is really good. So far the good things. I asked for a room with sea view and got the information that it will have view. Well. See a picture from my window. I didn't mean that! The rooms are expectable old. Nothing to complain here. But there is no sound isolation. We were able to here everything from the next room. TV, water tap, shower, toilet. Regarding the service. There were three women in service two younger ones, who walk through the restaurant looking to the ground, barely seeing guests contact wishes for drinks or coffee in the morning. The 3rd women, a stronger one, was amazing. She definitely loves her job. It was fun talking with her and getting her recommendations for the order was Gold. Sorry for this review.

14/05/2026: We stayed two nights as a family. The hotel is superb, retaining its original charm, with very large, comfortable, and clean rooms. The restaurant is the only one open and offers good quality food. The staff is friendly. We highly recommend it.

18/09/2026: We had a remarkable and memorable meal with Julian and his family and staff. The wine was excellent. The appetizers - crispy herb and feta croquettes and nduja sausage bruschetta - were flavorful and creative. The halibut was cooked to perfection. The start of the night was the red wine braised beef pie of the day - this dish will not soon be forgotten. The entire experience was wonderful!

25/09/2026: Prices, well that's the first thing, we all want to know €6.80 is a starting price for a pint, here, add a burger extra €14. A side of chips another extra €7.. cost of living or loving a pint burger and chips for one.... almost €30 or more So that's prices off the main thouro streets and pub grubs here. A great pub spacious and in the heart of the City. Not far from St Patrick's Street.. Great for food, sports, relaxing and a tea or a coffee, large screens and Tvs. I got the mother clucker love the name yumm, hate the spice on the clucker to hot. If you like hot hot spicey food it's for you. I didn't enjoy it. So make sure your chocie. TV screens very good, seating for the day very good. Staff top service, prices are expensive again very costly to watch a match have a few pints and meal. A meal deal pints food entertainment in these harsh times would be welcomed from the single person or a group of four or more. Options needed here deal days. €14 a burger €7 a chip portion add pints. On top of a great venue a few minutes walk from the City Centre. With bands music and more. Over all 5 stars here the interior the choices the staff the space. Under €7 for a pint can be purchased here. When the average price is €6.40. The pub hold quizzes etc and other social events. Games, social events , it caters for any social events, a nice addition. Well worth a visit. Situated at the foot of a historic bridge.
