18/10/2024: Went here for a meal with a friend. The young staff were very nice but that was as good as it got. The food was very poor and I left most of it. The loud sweary and very rough group who were then seated around us, sneering at the fact we were drinking wine, didn't help matters. After being refused permission to bring our bottle of wine up to the unoccupied top floor to get away from them, we were offered a table downstairs where we could hardly talk over the loud music. Not a pleasant experience and will not be back.

31/10/2024: this place is a must-go if you’re nearby, the food is absolutely gorgeous and staff couldn’t be nicer ! the food is perfectly portioned and is so tasty and well presented, with the most beautiful gravy i’ve ever tasted. desserts were great too, not too heavy and delicious. will be dining here again as it was a great experience with a lovely atmosphere and quick service. bathrooms were also spotless, as was the whole pub.

Hunter's Hotel
03/11/2024: In my mind Ireland has lost so many things of beauty over the decades, but Hunters hotel has not changed since my first visit over 50 years ago. Having been brought there for my birthday luncheon where everything was every bit as good as I expected, even the weather which meant an enjoyable walk round the unique gardens.
While enjoying today's Sunday luncheon with relations, it dawned on me how nice if a group of actors could arrive and sit down at an opposite table in period costume and act as though they were part of a Mrs Marpole drama. Especially as the perfect atmosphere is in this wonderful timewarp of a place, to have a number such enactments during the year.

08/11/2024: Very rude bar staff. Asked for a Gluten free beer, I celiac, they both insisted it was GF I know it wasn’t (GF Peroni has a red label, the one they offered was blue). Not a great place if you’ve any kind of intolerance

19/10/2024: Went in for lunch with four friends two of the group were just having coffee and three of us eating, the two coffees and three teas came straight away but then had to wait almost an hour for our food,the tea was just a teabag in a cup no pot,when I asked if we could have a top up I was rudely told that we could have as much tea as we want but would have to pay for it,food was sub standard, just sandwiches on a plate no side salad or crisps,won't be going back

03/11/2024: Went on a busy Saturday night. Bar was lively and Mick greeted us with such warmth that I felt the need to leave a 5 star review. Pure gent and very welcoming. Even went out of his way to find my partner a high stool despite how busy it was. Couldn't ask for more. Great pub that deserves all its success. (Maybe bring cash)

16/11/2024: We didn’t stay overnight, but we did visit the pub, and it was fantastic! The bartender was incredibly kind and helped me out with my drinks. I ended up with a couple of rounds of some great whisky and a delicious Heineken.
The pub itself is gorgeous. It was packed, but not overly so, and the atmosphere was lively yet comfortable. The music was just right—not too loud, so we could enjoy it while still having a conversation.
The staff were all kind, super fast, and on top of everything. Honestly, 10/10 service and experience. If you’re in the area, this pub is definitely worth a visit!
