14/05/2026: Meal out was fantastic here tonight. Lovely mushroom starter and the scampi was top notch for a main course. My partner loved the roast beef. Yummy brownie for desert. There's a lovely atmosphere with great service. Lovely selection of wine also. Highly recommend.

14/05/2026: The food was brutal and barely edible. In fact, some of our party couldn’t even eat the food. It was so bad. Do not waste your time and money.

27/06/2026: The best cafe in the area, tasty food, good atmosphere and all that with the best prices. The only problem is they don't have any space so try not to come at peak times.

11/06/2026: We had a wonderful experience in Hunters hotel . We stayed for two nights and had breakfast and dinner . Rooms were beautiful and the food was delicious. I cannot fault this hotel in any way. I would highly recommend it for old fashioned charm and courtesy. We were treated so well by Katha and Eva who are both a credit to this wonderful establishment. Of course the gardens are an absolute delight. We can't wait to return .

25/05/2026: The absolute best hotel on our tour of Ireland! Completely uniquely decorated, super friendly service, and top-notch cuisine. It had a bit of a Miss Marple film feel to it :-)

20/07/2026: We had a private event upstairs in the Taphouse on Saturday and it was amazing. The staff were brilliant, our guests loved the food, and the Terrace and Glass Room were the perfect space for our party. Can't thank the guys enough for a great evening!

19/07/2026: We had our friend’s wedding celebration at the pub, and everything was perfect! The food was great, everything was very well organised, and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. A special thank you to Ana and Guilherme for all their support.

12/06/2026: We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. The staff is amazingly helpful. The ONLY reason we didn't stay longer was because they were fully booked. Food was some of best we had in Ireland. We will definitely stay here when we return to Kells.

10/06/2026: Had afternoon tea here for a friend's birthday. Staff brought out a desert with candles and sang happy birthday and also offered to take photos which was greatly appreciated Food was lovely and service was great, only negative was they did not offer fresh tea and coffee during our visit. The only parking available on the day was council parking which is not connected to the hotel and the exit out of car park to the front of the hotel had no footpath.

28/06/2026: I came here because it was highly recommended, unfortunately the service was terrible. We waited at the door no one greeted us, another server didn’t even tell us the specials. However the waiter who was a women was very kind such a shame that the other two waiters ruined my experience.

29/05/2026: Went for an evening meal. Food was average. Service was transactional with serving staff not engaging or particularly interested in their customers. It may help if a singular member of staff were allocated to a certain set of tables to try to create some connection. We got a different person at each stage of the meal. We didn't leave a tip...

08/06/2026: Absolutely the best pork chop I’ve had in my life. I will never forget it—I closed my eyes for most bites so I could savor it. We asked for a recommendation for dessert and it was ridiculously amazing. The flavors were incredible. The chocolate was so rich it was plenty for four of us to split since we all were full from our incredible meals. Others in our party got a fish entree they loved and the sauce that it came in was so fantastic they used the extra bread to finish it off! 10/10 We will be back next year. 06/06/2026: We had a very odd experience here. We came during our honeymoon after several people recommended we visit while in Galway, but from the moment we arrived, the service felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. We arrived at 6:04 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation, and from the initial interaction with the host/server, we felt as though we were somehow in trouble. After reading other reviews, it seems that unfriendly service may not be an isolated issue. I’ve have never left a negative restaurant review before, but our experience warranted one. A couple seated next to us, who arrived after we did, received their meals significantly sooner than we did. In fact, they had already finished their mains and were ordering dessert before our entrees even arrived. I ordered the steak, which was served with a single slice of tomato on top. The couple next to us ordered the same dish, and theirs came with multiple slices of tomato as an accompaniment. I understand that presentation can vary, but the difference between one slice and several seemed unusually inconsistent. My wife ordered the scallops and received only three scallops. Photos online clearly show the same dish being served with noticeably more. I understand portion sizes can vary, but the difference was substantial enough to stand out. After our plates were cleared, we sat for approximately 10–15 minutes without anyone checking on us. Apparently, the server asked my wife about dessert while I was in the restroom, but when I returned, we waited another five minutes before I finally had to ask for the bill myself. Throughout the evening, we felt largely ignored. Looking back, I don’t believe anyone ever asked how our meals were. My family owns a restaurant, so I understand that service can suffer when staff are overwhelmed. That wasn’t the case here. The server walked past our table multiple times and never once acknowledged us or checked in. Out of habit from the United States, I still left a generous tip, but in hindsight I wish I hadn’t. We left feeling genuinely disappointed by the cold and dismissive service. It was certainly not the dining experience we had hoped for during our honeymoon in Galway.

14/07/2026: Best Guinness I have ever had. I am looking forward to returning to Dublin and this place specially.

12/07/2026: Very nice pub to have a nice meal and a drink. I went with the beef and Guinness stew and to wash it down with a nice pint of Guinness. 10/10 for the staff working there, very friendly.

18/05/2026: The service was great. The location of the hotel was great. It wasn't far from were me and my family had to go to. We were their to watch the ulster final.

19/05/2026: Luggage service was provided at check-in and check-out. Changing rooms was no problem, as we were unable to use the stairs due to mobility issues. Breakfast was excellent and the service throughout was superb. Best regards, Beate and Marie

18/05/2026: Stayed here with my parents to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. The team couldn't do enough for them, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Ross carried all their luggage from the car to their room - both parents have walking sticks. Leanne was also a smiling helpful lady. Karen our waitress had such a lovely way with her and kept the one liners coming which charmed my parents. They love the banter! The rooms were fantastic, comfortable, well appointed and recently refurbished. The supervisor at breakfast was excellent too, we didn't catch his name but he was another real asset. We caught him about to head out to the car with my parents luggage in the rain, just stopped him in time - we had coats he didn't! This has got to be the friendliest hotel in ireland! Well done everyone, you aced the customer journey 👏🏻

21/06/2026: The food is very good, The service is perfect and masterful and the setting lovely too! Anything the blond and my fussy brats wanted was no trouble and for the first time, my kids talked about the food on our table, (we all sampled each others) rather than burying their heads in their phones as usual!

15/05/2026: I believe that a great meal revolves around the people you are with, the service provided by the staff, and finally the food. In this case all three came together. The salmon starter was hot and well prepared. My rack of lamb was tender with a nice au jus. The service was just right, there when needed and allowing us to enjoy our meal. Not an everyday meal or inexpensive but really well done and if I am back in this area I will do it again.

13/07/2026: Great family run business and polite staff and great food and handy little shop to pick up shopping and a very large car park it's conviently situated in the Castle Connor on the Ballina to Sligo Road area,they cater for all occasions all year round 👍
