31/10/2025: Stopped in Ballybofey for lunch. Had the special, chicken and ham pie with mash topping. Hearty lunch for a miserable day. Place was full. Service was excellent.

05/12/2025: Group of 4 visiting locally and chanced in. Sunday afternoon. Warm welcome, lovely Guinness. We appreciated the original interior. 1 Burger and 3 different roast dinners. All happy! Very tasty, good portions, well priced, nice service. Unfortunately had no room for dessert! Would recommend.

12/10/2025: Fun experience talking to the owner Jasper. He was full of stories and had no problem sitting down and telling us about being a 5th generation bar owner/undertaker. He also listened and gave us further suggestions for where to go after we left. Food was good too. Would definitely go back!

31/10/2025: There's nothing like a pint outside here on a summer's day, or a lovely pint by the fire in winter time. Lovely pub, great bar staff.

16/02/2026: A truly beautiful room with stairs leading upstairs. Everything was clean and new. In the evening we ate in the pub, which was also delicious... absolutely wonderful.

04/02/2026: Right at the seafront beautiful views of the sea from the front of the hotel . Staff can’t do enough for you . Food is great the wines are fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting Valencia Island .

05/06/2025: Went to Inish fushion this evening with family. 04/06/25. Can't fault anything at all with the place. Very quaint and homely. Food was delicious and served by very friendly staff. Great choices on the menu. Definitely worth trying again to test some more desserts😊. Reasonable priced also.

27/02/2026: Sat outside for some supper. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious (cheeseboard and chicken wings). Inexpensive. Outside heaters were on full blast, very cosy. Fleece blankets available for extra comfort. 10/10*

01/01/2026: Just had a delightful meal in the Sheebeen. Lovely food, nice atmosphere in a warm and pleasant bar. First class all round.

30/12/2025: We go here every year, this year it wasnt as good as previous times. Chicken has a 20 min wait - which is completely fine, but the potatoes served (gratin) were lukewarm at best. Streak came out cold, had to hand back, for nearly 40e a steak youd expect better. Didnt have dessert, didnt want to be disappointed further. Just on the reply - we actually had a booking for 8pm, we did come early approx 735ish and we told staff that we didnt mind waiting. We specifically booked the snugg area, which since we were early had to be setup. But again we told staff that we were early and didnt mind waiting. We were facilitated which we thanked the staff for.

03/01/2026: My recent experience in the Step Inn was very unsatisfactory and uncomfortable. The host, Sarah, was very rude and dismissive. I didn’t have a reservation and asked could I be seated for a main course. The restraunt was full but she said she could seat me at a table for 2 to the right of the main desk. I agreed and was brought to the table and placed my order. Over the next few minutes I realised I was seated outside the doors to the kitchen. It was very busy and resembled Dublin airport. I spoke to Sarah and outlined my discomfort and she replied “ I don’t normally put people there and if I knew you had a problem, I would have moved you”. Can honestly say that the Sandyford House or the Golden Ball deliver serious customer service, perhaps the Step Inn new owners will pay attention.

19/02/2026: We enjoyed an amazingly delicious pan-seared Hake special. Ambiance is comfortable and dinner was unrushed with service just when required. As the dinner rush ended the musicians tuned up for a great evening of good craic! Loved the Guinness and warm chat with the Proprietor.

26/11/2025: Dropped in on Saturday afternoon for a glass of wine and a pulled chicken burger.. excellent food and service. Very relaxing and great tunes.

05/11/2025: Attended "a day after wedding" gathering. The food was sooo delicious, and the whole place is so well arrived within it's own barn-alike style. As a fragile Hungarian, who cannot get used to the dump cold spaces I was really cold the whole time. (Although there were heating panels above)
