16/09/2026: Lovely little place. Short staffed but staff were very friendly while busy. We were sat near a very unpleasant man who I overheard had arrived half an hour early for his and tried to order before us while we had been waiting, and when the man went to take his order he caused a scene and got up and stoon on the poor waiters foot and threw insults at him but fair play to him he handled it very well and even after when the couple next to the main called him rude and impatient the waiter smiled and said "I'm sure he had his reasons, It's ok" . Admittedly we did have to wait a while to order again as they were short of staff, but we were given drinks in the mean time. Some of the simpler items like fish and chips feel a little bit pricy but the food we went for was good value, one of us was unable to finish her veggie pasta.

23/08/2026: Stunning meal this Friday with friends!! Food delicious creative and filling. Very much getting the full fine dining experience with the à la carte menu with all the lovely extra mini courses, great bang for buck! The staff were warm and attentive and our 1 small piece of feedback (not much considering 4 of us and multiple courses) was received graciously. The wine was all excellent. The Czech bubbles and the Lebanese red highlights to name but two. Will be back!!

10/08/2026: Basic room, but had everything needed. Staff was very responsive. Breakfast was awesome. Irish breakfast is big enough for two. Lively pub with lots of local patrons. Would be a great place for those looking for a pint of Guinness after a day of travel.

23/08/2026: Great place for live jazz on Sunday afternoon. Quick but not excessive service. Definitely a place to visit again when back in Dublin. Good public transportation to get you there from downtown

04/09/2026: Quick and professional service, delicious food. Affordable. We are big fans of Irish breakfast and Friars' one was a good shot. Very happy with coffee too.

17/09/2026: You cannot visit Galway's Latin Quarter without stopping at McDonagh's! We ordered the traditional fried cod and chips, and the portions were absolutely massive. The fish was incredibly fresh—perfectly crispy and golden on the outside while remaining light and juicy on the inside. I loved that the chips are cut fresh right on the premises rather than being frozen. You order at the counter, and the food comes out remarkably fast even though the place is always packed with energy. It has a great, casual, historic maritime vibe with shared picnic-style tables. Fast service, great prices, and delicious tartar sauce. A flawless, authentic Irish chippy experience that I’ll be dreaming about until my next trip back to Ireland!

28/07/2026: I had the Tuna Melt, lovely. Very good service but this was just after the lunch period. Very friendly and very polite.

23/07/2026: A delicious brunch at this lovely café in Athlone. We ordered an iced coffee and a salmon bagel, and it was a great choice. The service was very friendly and attentive, and you could tell the food was fresh and very well prepared. A highly recommended spot for a relaxing and high-quality brunch. We'll definitely be back!

20/08/2026: Service was ok. Food quite poor. Nice enough chips. Had steak sandwich, steak was overcooked, very very thin, so I guess nearly impossible to cook it medium rare. Had to ask for pepper sauce as it didn't come with it. Definitely the stingiest steak in a steak sandwich I have ever had. Person serving us was apologetic about the steak being well done rather than medium rare. Due to the time constraints, I didn't send the sandwich back and eat and paid for it. Mushroom vol-au-vent was tasty, but contained very little chicken. The pub must be in the serious cost cutting stage as prices are on par with everywhere else but very little protein for your money here. Card machine didn't work (signs displayed so assume that machine doesn't work permanently). We had to pay for food and drinks separately even though everything was ordered and served together. All in all, would not go back and regretted eating here. Do not recommend for more than chips and a drink.

14/08/2026: Lovely staff bus service a bit chaotic on Sunday. Food very good. Pity a glass of Chardonnay was so bad - undrinkable actually!

05/07/2026: Was there for dinner had the burger what a disaster hard dry not fit to be served shouldn’t have being serve , image is one thing but substance is another thing and time to up The food standard as the building is fabulous , the staff were lovely , but the food 😱

27/06/2026: Very disappointing experience. We ordered drinks at the bar, but there were no seats available. We were then told we couldn’t even stand in the only area that had space because staff were taking drinks from there, leaving us with nowhere to enjoy what we’d just purchased. The owner’s son was there and was quite rude, showing no basic courtesy and not even saying goodbye as we left. Overall, the service and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

07/08/2026: The security and the bartender were pretty good with their service. A huge thank to Airt, who’ve been serving my beers today after work. I’ll come back with more friends for more pints

04/07/2026: Was so glad we chose this hotel. I was a hot wary with the location but we were so welcomed from the moment we walked into when we walked out. Glad we listened to recommendations that the hotel food was gorgeous and ended up eating the two nights we were there. Kids loved it so much that the eldest said she's going to remember the room number and ask for that room when she's an adult

22/06/2026: Was visiting for a wedding and the location was perfect for what I needed. The room was pretty darn good, though the toilet was a little flakey when it wanted to flush. Receptionist was excellent, really helpful and informative, made it really easy to relax straight away because I trusted I was in good hands
