02/06/2025: After a long day of travel, we picked this place at random for dinner as they didn't appear to be too busy. The interior is that of an authentic Irish bar. It almost felt like the restaurant part was an afterthought and the focus remained on the bar side. There were plenty of open tables, and the hostess told us to pick a seat wherever we wanted. She had to wipe down the table before we sat as it was sticky. Plenty of flies to go around as well. Our experience with the service was a bit disappointing. Our server told us at the beginning that she never works the evening shift, so she didn't know much about the menu and couldn't answer basic questions, so we had to wing our order. Each time she came back to the table, she mixed up something between my wife and I, like handing us the wrong food or drinks, which in the grand scheme of things was not a big deal but quickly got annoying after it happened every time. For dinner, my wife had the roasted chicken and I had the beef filet. Both were cooked well and had good flavor. For dessert, we tried to order 3 to go but between the server and cook, they could not figure out how to package one of the desserts. The server came back and asked us to change our order, which we did. She then returned with our original order. When it was time to leave, we had to wait at the til for an extended period while they found our server, and she entered our meal into the POS system for payment, during which she continued to struggle. Overall, the food was good, service and atmosphere were not up to par, would probably pass on a return visit.

15/05/2025: Our cruise ship tour stopped here after visiting the castle. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The owner was always present, trying to help people, pouring coffee, taking requests, etc. The food was quite good, and the service for 38 people was great, given that we all showed up at the same time. it is right around the corner from the castle in a very good location. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. It looks to have a very nice bar and plenty of seating, etc…

03/06/2025: Called in here at 7PM bank holiday Monday and I was so disappointed. Got lukewarm chips and fish that contained more batter than fish, certainly not award winning potential. I was the only customer present and nobody arrived whilst I was there. I really should have gone back to tell them the issue but it was raining. Hope they can up their game for others but I won't be back. The staff on duty were nice, maybe the cook was not up to the standards of their awards.

03/06/2025: 4 of us had the fish and chips last. We were very disappointed. Chips were cold and fish over cooked. We had heard so many good things about And chips. Maybe because it was near closing time .

10/05/2025: Great hotel with great staff. Eveningtime pizzas are amazing. Beds are so hard it's like sleeping on the floor, breakfast at 930am was rough. The eggs were rock hard and wasn't much of a selection. But over all a good Hotel

02/05/2025: Arrived from our ~24 straight hours of travel to learn that our reservation was actually for the next day 😣 but Eleanor at the front desk saved us by going out of her way to call another hotel around the corner and secure us a room for the same rate we would’ve paid at Benners! The hotel itself is also gorgeous, highly recommend it

03/03/2025: Great experience at the North, restaurant at the Conolly Hotel! The waitresses are very available, we had the chicken and the fish & chips! It was very good, generous portions. Nothing to complain about.

20/03/2025: Just received my special order from Kate's Kitchen after only making payment yesterday. They went above and beyond to source coffee for my Mum who was dying to try it after seeing it on Dragon's Den. To top it off, they included some lovely treats with the order! I will definitely be ordering from them again.

18/02/2025: Tuve una experiencia muy decepcionante. Mi pareja y yo habíamos reservado para una cena un sábado. Tuvimos un mal presentimiento cuando entramos y vimos cuántas mesas vacías había, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que era un fin de semana de rugby. Mientras que nuestro servidor brasileño era encantador, la comida era sosa y carecía de sabor y condimento. Dejamos la mayoría de nuestras comidas en el plato. El encantador servidor preguntó si todo estaba bien con la comida. Expresé que estaba muy decepcionado, considerando las excelentes críticas que habíamos leído en línea. El servidor nos informó que el chef envió sus disculpas desde la cocina. Nos persuadieron a quedarnos y tomar cafés y postre. El precio de los cafés se descontó de la factura. Pagamos nuestra factura, dimos propina a nuestro servidor encantador y nos fuimos. Basta decir que no volveremos. Hacia adelante, haré búsquedas más profundas de revisiones fuera de línea.

17/05/2025: Kept forgetting our order, took about 45 minutes for food to arrive when it eventually arrived, the food was really oily and salty and yet again forgetting a part of our order and on top of that the food was very overpriced. Overall, nice staff but the business is unorganised, slow and not well stocked.

29/03/2025: 1hr waiting for food to arrive. Old and Chipped dishes. Cold Draft from door. Door through to toilets constantly banging from opening and closing Cheap beans used in irish breakfast dish. Staff not closing door each time. Plug in Fan heaters being provided for heating. No fire lighting. Old cutlery, properly stained from years of use. Chipped teapot lids. Overall about 3-4 out of 10. Hope it improves as its great meeting location. Customers arriving and seated well before staff and business owner arriving. Made it feel like a lifestyle business…

04/06/2025: Out of date Turkish delight costing >€10 so not happy in this expensive place where you never see the same staff twice?? And where no one knows how to reset the bread slicer??? Training needed for staff!

14/05/2025: Prices are absurdly high, even for Donnybrook. Good selection of cold meats, but it is getting increasingly hard to get service at the deli counter. They want you to buy prepacked.

10/05/2025: Food is decently okay when dining in house. Takeaway is sweaty, soggy and expensive. Staff can be rude on the phone, on collection and at times in person. Theres never a good time to order on the phone as collection windows are delayed repeatedly. Either focus soley on in house dining or improve on collection but not both if can't you facilitate a conistent collection service. Cocktails are fun and nice but I don't think it is worth a repeat visit.

19/02/2025: The best country pub I've ever been! The service is very friendly, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. And the chowder? Hands down the best!
