Caprice
Galway
18/04/2026: We went for breakfast, a couple of coffees and a couple of toasts with avocado and eggs. We had to reorder one of the coffees as it didn't arrive, even though there weren't many people there at the time. Then the toasts, at €15 each, were quite mediocre, with a lot of arugula and hardly any avocado. At least the eggs were cooked properly. The service was slow, inefficient, and they didn't seem to remember our orders. An exorbitant price for what we got, especially considering how expensive Ireland is.
06/04/2026: Food is great. The waitress when we walked in wasn't friendly. She didnt even really speak at all just pointed at a table. The next waiter and waitress we had though were really friendly so it was a mixed bag. They are also very very strict on the menu it wasn't an issue for me but if you want to change in or out an item that is a full no no.

Recommend here without a doubt
07/05/2026: We popped in for dinner and a pint. The decor, vibe, ambiance, and feel do not match the food or service. I ordered the "pie of the day" (chicken and bacon with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted veg) and my husband the burger. At €20 a plate I was expecting something other than what appeared to be boiled and thickly cut chicken breast with a few bit of bacon in an overly salted cream sauce along with run of the mill mashed potatoes with small chunks of veg that were pan fried. It almost smacked of what you could get as a pre-made meal at Tesco. The burger was equally disappointing. Dry, overcooked (was never asked how it should be prepared), and the toppings were underwhelming. The chips that came with the burger were OK, but unremarkable and should have been cooked for at least another minute or two to crisp up the outside.
When I say the vibe didn't match the service, it boils down, quite a bit, to the service. The bartender would frequently mess with his hair showing his midriff. If you're going to present your establishment as a "cut above", I would expect a bit of decorum with proper attire. Our server (I didn't catch her name) had the personality of a rock and was cold (never mean, but definitely has the feeling she didn't really want to be there).
Maybe it's because it's the "low season" being early May, but come on! For €52 for 2 meals and 2 pints, surely you can do better. Also, what is up with the weird thumping noise that was vibrating the ceiling lights? Super annoying.

The Woollen Mills
Dublin
26/05/2026: Great fish and chips, great view of the water and ha'penny bridge
26/05/2026: I can’t believe the waiter thought he could ‘sneak’ a service charge on the bill for a table of 2?! When we asked what it was for he just walked off?! So I went to the front to ask for a copy of the bill as the waiter didn’t return, sure the change was only .40 euros….. still?! AND the bill was missing, no where to be seen, had to re-print a new one. I just can’t!! 3.60 euros, in Canadian is almost $6?! Dirty!! I wish I could give this review a zero!!

Brady's
Dublin
20/05/2026: We visited yesterday and were left genuinely disappointed by our experience. We ordered 2 pints, chicken wings, and garlic cheese chips, coming to €40, which already felt steep.
When the chips arrived, we were surprised to find the “garlic” element was simply 3 to 4 raw, roughly chopped garlic cloves dumped on top, completely overpowering and inedible. We politely asked if we could swap to the bacon cheese chips instead, but what came back appeared to be the exact same dish, simply reheated. We know this for certain because we had put a small amount of ketchup on the chips before requesting the change, and the replacement plate came back with the same ketchup stains still visible. Nothing had changed.
When we raised our concern, we were told “it is what it is”, which we found dismissive and frankly unprofessional. Even your own waitress visibly reacted to the amount of garlic on the plate.
We are not ones to complain, but €40 for this experience, the food quality, the refusal to properly address our request, and the indifferent attitude, was not acceptable. We would welcome a response and hope this is taken as constructive feedback.
07/05/2026: A lovely layout with a well equipped beer garden, which included tv. This was very welcome for the large groups of Man Utd & some Liverpool fans.
The food was delicious and the Guinness was 👍
Staff were efficient & friendly.

Riverside Cafe
Skibbereen
15/05/2026: We found this place by chance when looking for somewhere to have lunch. It was excellent. We had the daily special which was Hake with brown rice, which was great for me as I have diabetes. We also had two glasses of excellent wine and desserts. Coffee was good, as was the service. Worth a visit if you’re in Skibbereen.

Gourmet Tart Company
Galway
16/05/2026: Ideal for enjoying a coffee and pastries. Plenty of seating available.
07/04/2026: Terrible experience. The manager is rude, don't look at customer faces and don't give any kind of experience. Never going back there, specially at salthill. There's plenty of other coffee stores to go. Also the owner, Michelle, is not a friendly person at all. Horrible coffee, dirty coffee machine, steamer completely filthy. Bad experience.

Carrig Country House
06/04/2026: Had a fantastic stay - the place is all about relaxation. Room had a wonderful view over the lake. Food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough.
29/03/2026: We had the most incredible two-night stay at Carrig Country House and can’t recommend it highly enough.
From the moment we arrived, the setting completely won us over — right on the lake with breathtaking views that make it so easy to unwind and switch off. The house itself is full of charm and character, with a warm, cosy atmosphere that feels truly special.
Being invited for coffee and homemade cake with biscuits after checking in is a great touch.
We were lucky enough to stay in the Presidential Suite, which made the experience even more memorable. The space, comfort, and stunning views were exceptional — it felt like a real treat and the perfect place to relax.
What really sets Carrig apart, though, is the hospitality. The team are genuinely welcoming, attentive, and thoughtful, creating a stay that feels personal and effortless.
The dining experience was a real highlight. Being welcomed into a cosy sitting room to relax and discuss the menu before being called through to dinner is such a charming, old-world touch — it made each evening feel special. The food itself was outstanding from start to finish, with top-quality ingredients and beautifully presented dishes.
If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with incredible food, beautiful surroundings, and truly warm hospitality, this place is a gem.
Thank you to Claire, Kevin and the team for everything. We’ll definitely be back.
