28/12/2025: Thank god this restaurant is back on track. It went a bit off track for a while and we stopped going. Now whatever happened it's back to the way it should be. Superb menu . Great staff and prices are right. Compliments to the kitchen on taste and presentation. 10/10 top marks

04/01/2026: I ordered mussels for starters, whist they were good, I was well gone through them when the dish arrived for shells another dish with the water n lemon juice but nothing to dry your hands. Desert was nothing to boast about. .The cost was overpriced and I will not return.

13/01/2026: The bouncer came across as very rude, sarcastic, and he swore at us. That should have been a red flag to leave immediately (his bad manner is a common occurrence judging from other reviews I have read here). You can probably see from his face how hostile this establishment is. Anyway, I go in and the drink was just awful 😱 I returned my pint of Moretti. It was genuinely the worst pint I ever had. It tasted so, so dirty. I have worked in bars and know for a fact the lines were just filthy. The bar staff had no issue taking it back after she taste tested it and looked equally as repulsed as I was. I appreciated her not making a fuss over it. We stuck to bottles after that. The seats were super uncomfortable, see pictures, they are homemade of beer barrels. Very uncomfortable to sit in I can attest. Furthermore!!! The fire alarm went off at least 5 times in the less than two hours I was here…. 😳 Needless to say I won’t be returning, no way 🙂‍↔️

28/12/2025: I was really looking forward to trying the steak tartare at BlackThorn as this dish is for me a true indicator of a restaurant’s quality. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Visually, it was promising: the meat was nicely chopped and well presented with onion and pickles. The problem appeared with the very first bite — the entire dish was completely dominated by horseradish. I couldn’t taste the meat, the onion, or any sense of balance at all. The horseradish overwhelmed everything else. Additionally, the texture of the meat was watery, giving the impression that it had been quickly defrosted and served immediately without proper preparation. When it comes to steak tartare, this is unfortunately disqualifying. It’s a real shame, because my expectations were high and the potential of the dish was completely wasted.

10/12/2025: Just had THE best festive toastie I've ever had.. I'm not hyping it up for no reason and usually toastie are just fine but this one. Turkey,ham, stuffing, cranberries, cheese with gravy dip on the side, along with small sprouts cooked perfectly and chips. The balance of flavours and the quality of the food was out of this world hence why I'm leaving the review. Totally deserves to be shouted about. Grey service too I might add. 👏👏

27/08/2025: Been here a few times over the years, it's a hit and miss, sometimes it's lovely and friendly staff and good food and sometimes staff haven't got the time for you and the food is OK.

20/02/2026: Came here on a quiet Thursday afternoon with my elderly grandmother, mother and two young children. The service was great, the lady who served us was really friendly to the kids and helpful when we had questions. I chose off the specials menu, roast duck with mash, veg and gravy and it was the nicest bit of food I’ve had in a while. Granny had fish and chips, great size and she had enough to take home (staff gave us takeaway tubs for my granny to heat hers up later). My mum had the bruschetta starter and onion rings as her main, everything was delicious and generous portions! The kids (and me) were delighted to see a robot delivering the food, it was a new experience for us. Kids enjoyed their food, however I think it would be good to have the option of peas, or beans or salad along with the kids menu though.

See my review below: The best breakfast / lunch restaurant in Monkstown bar none. Everything on the menu is delicious it’s so hard to choose. Super service too! I’m a regular and always will be. Highly recommend an early G&T.

06/12/2025: 3 stars max because the place is cosy and the coffee is good, but I wouldn’t return there for the brunch menu…branch menu is just average and not a good value for money.

22/01/2026: We visited here two years ago and looking forward to it on our soon to be trip. The service was fantastic and easily one of our favorite parts of the trip. We were traveling as a family of eight, and once we discovered this place, we came back every morning for breakfast for the rest of our stay. Our kids had a hard time choosing just one breakfast, and the staff graciously offered to create a custom meal that combined all their favorites, which was such a thoughtful touch. On what we thought was our last day there, we mentioned that we had an early departure the following morning and wouldn’t be able to make breakfast. To our surprise, they opened the restaurant an hour early just to make breakfast for our family. That level of kindness and hospitality is something we’ll never forget. Highly recommended.

13/08/2025: Didn’t eat here, but wouldn’t go back for drinks. Bartenders were not friendly at all and refused to make mixed drinks for Americans, but then made them for their friends who ordered right after. One acted as if he didn’t know what Tito’s vodka was. They had great live music and a lively crowd, but a very unwelcoming bunch. Americans should skip this spot and spend their money elsewhere. One of the few pubs the group had anything negative to say about.

08/08/2025: While on our honeymoon in Ireland, Ireland by Bike suggested we dine at Yellow Pepper. So glad we did, the atmosphere is so cozy, the food was amazing. We had the opportunity to meet the owner Kieran who is a gem! Chris and Kerrilee

05/08/2025: Visited Letteykenny in Ireland for a short break, had seen reviews. Definitely have to book so popular. Lovely options to choose from. Decided to go straight to the main, I had the lamb shank special of the day, The lamb just fell off the bone, buttery mash with good selection of vegetables, some as purée,and a tasteful jus to bring it all together. My husband had the cod with fish pie, a beautiful chunky piece, definitely a hot pie with creamy mash. Both our plates were completely cleaned. I had the meringue with fresh fruit and compote, meringue crispy and chewy just the way it should be. A lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff were very attentive and polite. Very good value as well. Would definitely recommend The Yellow.Pepper
