10/08/2026: came here as a group of five on Sunday, was appalled at how unengaged and downright annoyed the staff were with us from the get go. as someone who worked in the service industry before i know what its like to dislike your job and all that jazz that comes with being a waitress, so it was even more shocking to see how almost all of the girls were treating us. the food was subpar, fine at best. there are a lot of wasps around if you're sitting outside, so just be mindful of that.

06/07/2026: Why is vaping allowed in the bar? Most times when I visit there is a man sitting at the bar vaping in front of the bar staff. It should be banned like in most other pubs. I tried to ring the pub to ask but gave up at the phone is never answered.

21/06/2026: Had 2 rounds and cost about €7 per person i would sit inside though the outside chairs arnt verry comfortable

28/08/2026: Second visit to this location in the past few months. Dined in on both occasions. We booked table for both visits... Its mad !! I haven't a bad word to say about either visit. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive. They were great with the kids. Only "complaint "- we were stuffed 😃.. the food was genuinely savage. Its good location for parking and wasn't packed busy on either occassion with plenty of seating... in this day when people are quick to point out problems I think its important to praise those that do it well and consistently. Will definitely return.

29/08/2026: We ate there tonight. The food was very good with generous portions, but the atmosphere was extremely noisy. The service was adequate, nothing more. It felt like everyone was in a hurry and that we weren't expected to linger. We were also unpleasantly surprised by the 10% service charge added to the bill.

29/08/2026: Classic dish. Just regular fish and chips! However, they ask for your credit card number to reserve…and then they add a 10% service charge that isn't mentioned anywhere! A rip-off! And after 60 minutes, they bring you the bill to make room… McDonald's is way cooler. Avoid it!

19/04/2026: Passed by it for years and finally decided to "Drop Inn". Staff were so friendly and accommodating- food was delicious, hot & fresh, promptly served Will definitely be returning 👌🏻

13/08/2026: Went there hungry and hot, needed a good meal and a cold drink... they didn't disappoint! Was recommended this Gastrobar by a local, said the food would be good and the drinks cold, they were not lying. The portion size was decent and the prices really reasonable. Had a McMahons special with ribs and wings, and a pint of cider... my favourite cider here in Ireland when I visit! Photos dont really do it justice but it was fabulous all round. Look forward to the winter time when I visit again and see it more cosy and enjoy the sights and sounds of Maynooth! Lovely location but recommend taking an uber into town rather than parking as there is a 1hr limit. Good value for money and lovely meal.

10/05/2026: Top quality service from the minute we arrived. We were walked to our comfortable room, treated to an excellent quality dinner with a good quality wine list and had a comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was much higher quality than we were expecting the next day. Maura is a star and made it such a pleasure to stay. Thanks for a lovely evening!

10/05/2026: We wanted to get to the Tannery before it closed at the end of this year. It didn't disappoint. Máire gave us a loveky welcome. The room was very comfortable. Dinner was really tasty. Great local ingredients, thoughtfully presented. We had an especially lovely glass of champagne as we were celebrating. The breakfast the next morning was especially delicious. Just sorry that we were too full to have the lemon drizzle cake we were tempted with for breakfast dessert. Definitely worth a trip. Look forward to seeing what they do next.

20/07/2026: For food - avoid. Ordered the ‘sasta bowl’ which was supposed to be roasted vegetables, hummus, toasted nuts and seeds. I paid €4.50 extra to add chicken. What I got was a bag of salad leaves, barely cooked courgette, pickled beetroot which was not mentioned on the menu, what you could only describe as a teaspoon of chicken on top and a tonne of hummus. Mentioned it the lovely staff who then brought down a bowl of some peppers, nuts and … more beetroot. Paid €16 for this, it was awful. Shame as it is on the river and a lovely setting.

15/10/2025: I am vegetarian and I am allergic to mushrooms and it was a mushroom fettucine on the menu for vegetarians so that was dissapointing for me. So i just had the soup. Everything else was lovely.

24/02/2026: Nice country pub atmosphere with a fire lite stove. The service was professional. I ordered a steak which was overcooked first and was taken back, then it was undercooked on the second attempt. I ended up getting a burger and chips which I wasn’t charged for which I felt was the good way of dealing with the situation.

21/02/2026: Best meal of our trip to Ireland, and we ate many good meals. The blade steak was TO. DIE. FOR. The toffee cheesecake dessert, mouthwatering. The staff was friendly and accommodated our questions. We stumbled upon this place, and boy are we thankful we did!!
