24/02/2024: I took pulled pork, just excellent, in a original way. All our plates (we were 3) were excellent and desserts as well. Delicious, one of the best that I tested in Ireland.

20/03/2024: We visited this place on a Wednesday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. While most of the staff seemed to be in a bit of a tough mood, there was one gentleman who stood out for his kindness and helpfulness. However, we found that the portion sizes of the food were quite small, and the prices seemed high in comparison. While it was a memorable evening with friends, if given the choice, I might explore other options next time

05/05/2024: We were lucky to get the best room in the hotel. The one with its own balcony looking out over the sea. A lovely hotel and very friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay during the Waterville Trail Running Festival. The residents' bar had some very welcome pints after the race. The only tiny niggle was no printed vegan cooked breakfast option. But they were happy to put something together for me. Our second visit here was just as good. Some renovations underway including electronic door locks. The standard room is also excellent with fantastic sea views too.

26/03/2024: I recently attended the Gate Restaurant for breakfast. The food was top quality at a very fair price. The venue has a very traditional Irish cafe feel to it which works really well. The staff were super welcoming and made us feel valued as customers. Reasons to come back included: 1. Food quality 2. Staff friendliness 3. Table layout was nice and spaced and clean 4. Coffee comes with breakfast and only 70c supplement for speciality coffee e.g. latte, cappuccino etc. I will definitely be returning to the Gate Restaurant again soon, thank you for your first class hospitality.

17/03/2024: Three of us went for lunch on a Saturday. The food and service were excellent. Staff were also extremely helpful. We had the grilled chicken with mushroom sauce, the fish and chips, and the lunch deal (soup, sambo, t/c), followed by a berry crumble and custard to share. It was also very good value.

02/04/2024: In 2 words- tasteless and uncomfortable. I have to say, the area is wonderful, in between beautiful lake and historic places, but as a pub serving food is shameless for the business of restaurants in general. I have to say that in 10 years in Ireland is the worst-burger-most-dry-ever-made burger I ate. The service was far from comfortable since I ordered a Beamish and the answer could be, "no I dont have", or anything. But "This is not Cork".. to be honest, I dont care. I am not Irish to enter in disputes. I only wanted a Beer. Guinness is from Dublin as far as I know.. and what I took finally. The carving of Turkey was 1 SLICE, - just 1 - tasteless. A pity, because I always like to explore new places but sometimes you find this places that survive because they are "the only pub open there". Ah, forgot to say, €16.90, the burger, €14.90 carving. I felt scammed for what I ate. A Mc Donald's would be better solution and almost 1/3 price.

29/03/2024: This is a great pub that has really amazing food. They are also one of the few places in Ennis you can get a breakfast and one of the only ones you can also have a pint with your breakfast.

04/01/2024: Was honestly blown away by the quality of the dishes we had. Top marks to the chef, you could tell how much effort was put into each dish and they were beautifully presented. The risotto starter was incredible, and the steak and salmon main dishes were both beautifully prepared. Service was good too, and reasonably priced.

18/08/2023: Decadent and delicious. Fresh seafood, and chips worth the drive from Dublin. The Banoffi pie is unmatched. Can’t wait to return!
