20/07/2026: Kirby’s of Galway was exactly what we were looking for after a day of exploring the city. It offers quality comfort food in a warm, welcoming setting, making it an easy restaurant to recommend to a wide range of diners. The menu has plenty of variety, so whether you’re after seafood, steak, traditional Irish dishes or something lighter, there is something to suit most tastes. Everything we ordered was well prepared, generously portioned and full of flavour. This isn’t a restaurant trying to reinvent fine dining, and that’s actually one of its strengths. It focuses on serving satisfying, well-executed meals using good ingredients, and it does that very well. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it a great place to unwind over dinner. Despite being popular, the service remained friendly, efficient and professional throughout our visit. The staff struck the right balance between being attentive and allowing us to enjoy our meal at our own pace. Sometimes when travelling you simply want a dependable restaurant where you know you’ll receive a quality meal, pleasant surroundings and good service. Kirby’s delivered on all three. We left very satisfied and could easily see ourselves returning on a future visit to Galway. If you’re visiting Galway and want a reliable restaurant with a broad menu and consistently good food, Kirby’s is well worth considering.

06/04/2026: Had a fantastic stay - the place is all about relaxation. Room had a wonderful view over the lake. Food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough.

29/03/2026: We had the most incredible two-night stay at Carrig Country House and can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, the setting completely won us over — right on the lake with breathtaking views that make it so easy to unwind and switch off. The house itself is full of charm and character, with a warm, cosy atmosphere that feels truly special. Being invited for coffee and homemade cake with biscuits after checking in is a great touch. We were lucky enough to stay in the Presidential Suite, which made the experience even more memorable. The space, comfort, and stunning views were exceptional — it felt like a real treat and the perfect place to relax. What really sets Carrig apart, though, is the hospitality. The team are genuinely welcoming, attentive, and thoughtful, creating a stay that feels personal and effortless. The dining experience was a real highlight. Being welcomed into a cosy sitting room to relax and discuss the menu before being called through to dinner is such a charming, old-world touch — it made each evening feel special. The food itself was outstanding from start to finish, with top-quality ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with incredible food, beautiful surroundings, and truly warm hospitality, this place is a gem. Thank you to Claire, Kevin and the team for everything. We’ll definitely be back.

27/06/2026: Our third time here, and always with our son, daughter inlaw and two grandsons, and it never disappoints, it has all three important things, great food, service and atmosphere. 😁👍

17/07/2026: If I could give the older grey haired barman a personal star rating it would be zero. I ordered a cocktail as advertised and it was actually undrinkable for a €14 cocktail, I normally would never complain but I asked would it be possible to get the cocktail remade because something tasted off in it. Simple request I thought, as someone who has worked behind a bar, I am familiar that sometimes drinks can be made off/ differently or wrong in some cases. But the response I received was “we are not a cocktail bar”… huh?! Explain why I ordered a cocktail off you then? Anyways, after that response I just asked for a simple spirit and mixer instead. When I sat back to my table I could see the bar man chatting and pointing in my direction, I couldn’t have got out of there quicker. We finished our food and I for sure won’t be back 🍸 side note there was a lovely young waitress serving us for food.

05/07/2026: Lovely pub with super friendly and efficient staff but the food is very basic. Lots of choice but is at a level your mam would make. Had the striploin and it is not chargrilled as advertised and was over cooked. The place could really up their standards given the level of choice in the area. Can't take away from the staff and atmosphere though

27/05/2026: We were there yesterday, there was no live music that evening (it was a Tuesday night) and the pub was rather empty. The pub is definitely even better with live music! Nevertheless, we had a wonderful evening and stayed for about five hours. The bartender was very friendly, approachable, always ready with a joke, and told us lots of things and explained a great deal. We also met other tourists, and it was a truly fantastic evening that we will certainly remember forever! Many thanks to the staff! ❤️

17/05/2026: The bartender took my drink order and then set down a Guinness (which is what I ordered) right in front of me. A random man BEHIND me came up to me and said "hey that's mine" to which I responded "oh, sorry, are you sure?" he said"yes". I (as a woman) looked to the bartender (also a woman) and said "Sorry, is this his or mine?" she responded "His"... I think? (it was very very loud in there). I said "sorry what?" to which she responded "It. is. his.", in a very rude and exacerbated tone. I said "Sorry I didn't know, just wanted to confirm" . She continued to patronize me and I again said "I'm sorry it was his, I just wanted to make sure" she rolled her eyes at me and continued to talk down to me, over-explaining how I should know it is someone else's drink when I was shoulder to shoulder with other people at the bar in an atmosphere where I had to yell to the person next to me in order for them to hear me . She continued to say how I should know it was his and I said "How was I supposed to know that?" I apologized to the man behind me and he said "no worries, it's all good" (the bar tender saw all of this). I apologized to him again. Bartender looked at me and said "obviously it's his because I wouldn't make your beer that fast, it has to set first" and then a few seconds later slammed my beer down in front of me.

29/06/2026: Great shop with a very nice deli. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Great selection of pizza bases, sausages and rashers in the fridge

12/05/2026: Found myself in Blackrock today and happened across On a Platter Deli. The coffee is so good I can't even begin to describe it, I would drive out of my way just for another one really soon. Had a beautiful sandwich which was freshly made and have to say 10 out of 10 all round. The service was super, happy and attentive staff, the selection was more than ample (everything from Vegan delights to meat lovers dreams) and the real family feel to the shop means I would definitely be back. Thank you On a Platter for making my day.

08/05/2026: We had a wonderful visit to The Rambler. We are in Tipperary for a week and heard they had live music on Friday night. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The beer was great. Best pint of Guinness I’ve had all trip. We had a conversation with the owner and he gave us tips on places to visit around the area. The musicians were amazing. We had a wonderful visit and we would definitely recommend The Rambler!

27/04/2026: i was here during a work trip in 2014, exactly when Ireland played Germany in the world cup. Not only was the food pretty good and the atmosphere exactly like I expected it to be, it was the warm welcoming and the friendly banter that made me feel very at home, even when I cheered for the wrong team. I really often tell about this evening when somebody asks me about Ireland and how the Irish are. Hope I will be visiting again some day

12/04/2026: This is my go-to place for lunch every weekend. I am always impressed by the kindness of the team. Specially, there is a female staff member who I think is Chinese she is outstanding. She is patient, understands customer needs deeply and handles every request with a smile. Her service is the heart of this place
