10/08/2025: On our way back from Mizen Head, we stopped here for lunch. The veranda overlooks the beach, and it was fantastic in the sunshine. The food was classic but well-prepared.

27/07/2025: The place is filthy, can barely see out the window with the dirt. Also cobwebs on the roof and floor is covered with sand. Toilets were a disgrace Very over priced €9 for a glass of average Merlot €6.20 for pint of Guinness Outrageous Also lots of items on menu not available at 6.30pm and the place was nearly empty Not coming back

20/07/2025: Out of the way place well worth the effort. Great food, beautiful location. Found out by accident, but will now return every time we're in lough key. Make the effort and go visit.

10/07/2025: Beautiful setting. Really friendly staff. Rang ahead and Roger had a berth available and helped us pull the boat in. Food was excellent. Couldn't finish the ribs but got them to take away for later. Will be back.

10/08/2025: Location couldn't be better. Right in center. 15 min walk from train station. 3 mins from kilkenny castle 🏰. Room 1 is so tiny, for the price I expected better, extremely basic, NOISY. Beer Kegs being rolled down the street at 7am! People banging door down at 2.30am trying to get in. On a main street so people shouting outside your window alllllllll night. Beds very hard and squeaky. Not a bar of soap to wash your hands. No hair dryer, iron but no board, very dated room. Needs a few shelves on wall. Can't turn tv off, it goes off after a few hours itself Breakfast lovely, staff hard working, beer garden is nice. I brought my issues with room to a staff member who just empathised with us. She said the place was booked solid for the next 2 weeks

05/08/2025: Very good value, lovely rooms, food great value and fast and super friendly service. Excellent steak on the stone.

11/08/2025: Popped in of a Sunday, it was busy but the Waitress did everything to seat us as promptly as she could, while also accommodating a big event that was just about to happen. The food was what we grew up with. Your basic Irish meals done proper. The Pub is a lovely setting that in corporates Food and Pub life well.

11/05/2025: The staff were great, very friendly, and the food was delicious - we had their smaller version of the full Irish breakfast, and some coffee. Very cozy interior, loved seeing some of the historical decor.

05/07/2025: Excellent food. Great menu options. Very good value. Service was fantastic. Asked multiple times if we needed anything outside of general service. The staff are really attentive and want everyone to be comfortable. I saw lots of examples of them checking in with customers. Really great to see. Great kids menu, so good to see options outside of just nuggets and chips. Really generous portions. The interior could do with an upgrade but it doesn't impact the overall experience. Fantastic staff and delicious food. Highly recommend. Parking on the main street is hit and miss. It's a busy road. There are plenty of car park options. Walking the main street is a nice way to see the other local shops/businesses. Overall highly recommend.

30/07/2025: We had a fantastic meal, the roast beef was excellent, as was the meatloaf. We told the waitress about our home exchange trip, and she loved it.

31/08/2025: Visited 27th Aug, for an evening meal. Very disappointed, given option veg OR potato, with Seabass Special, unheard of!! Wait staff could not explain reason.

29/08/2025: Stopped here on our way through and just wanted a coffee and maybe a cake at 2:30 in the afternoon. All the tables outside had reserved signs. We sat down anyway, the entire place was empty. The waiter was standing right in the entrance and saw us. I went in anyway and asked if we had to order inside. I was told very clearly and sternly that we had to come inside first, otherwise we wouldn't be seen. Conclusion: OK coffee, good location, abysmal friendliness. We haven't experienced anything like it in all of Ireland. P.S.: There are busy cafes around the corner – perhaps a sign? (Unfortunately, we saw this too late.)

13/07/2025: Great little coffee shop on the centre of Clondalkin village. Good selection of cakes and very nice coffee. Staff extremely efficient and friendly.

03/08/2025: Fantastic food in Mr Chippies. Fish and chips a must. Great service from lovely staff. Hot food in a flash and oh my, the food is delicious. Prices unbelievable for what you get. Unbeatable value. 5 stars all round.

10/08/2025: After a long day exploring the Ring of Kerry, we had a great dinner at Colgan’s during our stay at the Muckross Park Hotel. The Guinness beef stew, pan roasted Atlantic salmon, & apple crumble tart were all fantastic!

05/08/2025: Excellent service and the food was out of this world! From the main plates to the dessert we so enjoyed our time here!

16/08/2025: Después de un lánguido paseo por la agradable vía fluvial, fue grandioso alojarse aquí para disfrutar de sabroso pescado con papas fritas. Scampi y bacalao son las opciones, entre una gran variedad de opciones. Dio la orden en el mostrador, recibió un No, tomó asiento y cuando se llamó al número (sin mucha demora) recogió golosinas en el mostrador. Todo muy satisfactorio, y mediado por un personal muy amable.

25/07/2025: Five stars due to having THREE vegan options on the menu! Had the excellent vegan pizza one evening and came back the next night for beetroot burger. After years of being vegan in Ireland, I never expect to be able to eat more than a bowl of chips and a side salad, so this was an amazing and delicious surprise. Had a few pints of the White Cow pale ale brewed on the island. Spacious pub, beautiful inside and out (picnic tables right on the water when the weather is cooperating) and lovely staff. Wonderful spot and look forward to returning in the future.

24/07/2025: Thanks to all the staff for a fabulous couple of nights last week. We love our trips to Boffin and are always made to feel very welcome. Hotel rooms are perfect, breakfast is excellent. We love the bar, the music and the craic.
