19/04/2025: I've been here a few times now, and whenever I visit I feel like a 16th century noble. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, and the food makes me want to earn more money so I can buy more of their food. I'd recommend this place if you just want to feel a bit fancy💲

19/05/2025: A classic hotel, a bit pricey but it's ireland. Staff was friendly so nothing to complain about, except for a better method to get into the hotel later at night. The beds are kinda short and not too confortable.

24/04/2025: From the moment you enter with the extremely friendly and warm welcome to the decor and calming atmosphere, an experience!! We had a fantastic evening choosing the tasting menu with the accompanying wine recommendations, each step, glass of wine and plate was explained in great detail by Elaine and her wonderful staff. The food was amazing, worth every penny in our opinion and the overall experience was outstanding!! We’ll be back, thank you Elaine and Rob!!

21/05/2025: Food was good service was good but the place could do with a bit of TLC and a deep clean

20/05/2025: Great welcome, accommodation, food and atmosphere. The rooms were spacious well appointed and modern. We met the owner who oversaw our stay, a true gentleman. Breakfast was served promptly and was delicious and vast in quantity and quality Parking is ample with cctv 24/7 not that it’s needed as it’s a safe area, but peace of mind nonetheless.

25/05/2025: We had been in the West restaurant 7 years ago and that food experience left us very good memories. We have recently been in the revamped Blackthorn restaurant to celebrate a birthday and we were a bit deceived from the mains menu. Decor is great and staff is kind and welcoming. Fergal did take care of our 6 years old son taking his food order quickly and serving him first. Me and my husband had good starters. I did had tuna fish and It was really good. I had ordered a specific fish dish, which apparently was not available, I was informed so just few minutes before the starter was arriving. I had the chance to order another main, and as I preferred to continue with fish, I looked at the resting 3 fish mains options, they weren't what I was expecting in such a restaurant. I did in the end choose the fish and chips thinking it would be a gourmet version of the traditional dish. But it wasn't something special, I could eat same dish in the downstairs gastropub. There was just an odd addition of battered an deep fried sausages. My husband went for a kebab/brisket plate, he did find brisket really dry. Both dishes were served on hipster fast-food trays. On the rest of the menu there were quite popular options like cheeseburgers. And in fact at the close-by tables there was a group of American tourists, most of which ordered burgers. Although the quality of produce was good, I did find the menu of mains a bit too close to pub food, which is something I wouldn't expect from such a restaurant. It looks like the menu has been adapted to the American tourists' taste. That's a pity because I don't think I would go there a second time. Next time I will just go to the ground-floor gastropub. I guess this restaurant would be a good option for those that looks for a more privacy and a brighter environment then the pub. But if you've been to the West then I wouldn't recommend to go to Blackthorn.

06/05/2025: We had a truly lovely meal here at the weekend. The prime rib steak was honestly one of the best things I’ve tasted in quite a long time. Menu looks expensive but the sharing plates can easily feed three. Highly recommended and would love to see it succeed.

16/04/2025: Stopped by for a quick lunch on our way to Galway City, cozy little pub and dining area, with a great Abbey Pizza, just right for two.

30/04/2025: I would liked to have tried the food but on two separate occasions the kitchen has shut ??? Once at 7.45.and 8.30 . To me it looks like when the cats away the mice will play.!! Never again will try to eat there again !!

25/05/2025: Food always fresh. Prep areas always look clean and tidy. Efficient and friendly staff. The drive thru always runs smoothly too.

20/05/2025: Went in today, had the Philly steak sandwich meal, with Coke my God in heaven 🙌 long time since I've had such tasty food. It's cooked to perfection and the service was amazing all staff members greeted me with kindness and smiles now that's unbeatable.

02/06/2025: We were there on a Sunday a few weeks ago and the food was good, but the service was overwhelmed. We didn't get water, others who arrived later were given the menu before us, and then our food was forgotten, and they only asked us what we had ordered later.

10/06/2025: We went for the lunch, I had a duck ' my friend had calamari. The duck was so so dry , -im not recommening it to no one - the calamari had a very spicy chili sauce ' I my guess that it was frozen -
