22/07/2025: Nice place to visit, every first Sunday of the month there is a car meeting right at this place. Unfortunately they are not allowing to use the toilets now, and there is no other place there.

07/09/2025: Excellent food and service. A great range of veggie, vegan and meaty dishes. The staff are always excellent. I go here regularly with work and being the kids at weekends.

05/05/2025: Came with my fiancée. Despite We were ignored for the first five minutes after entering the restaurant. The food is where I’m really confused. I had the mussels to start — they came in a lovely pot designed to keep the heat in, but the mussels were cold. Some had broken shells and hadn’t been cleaned properly. I had to stop eating them because they were cold and barely coated in a thin layer of sauce. Nobody came back to check on us during the starter. I ordered the fillet steak with crispy red onion rings. The steak was perfectly cooked and fell apart — really well done. The onion rings were so nice I ordered more, but when the second batch came out, they were cold, dry, and clearly not fresh. When we went to pay the bill, we weren’t even asked if we enjoyed our meal. The mussels were still on the bill, even though we told the waiter they tasted off. We felt very unwelcome the entire time, likely because we weren’t locals. I’d avoid this place if you want cold food and warm drinks.

27/04/2025: We had such a wonderful dinner here last Wednesday celebrating my daughterJennifer and Jorges wedding. This was the first celebration of their wedding and Fergal and everyone at the Boathouse made it so special where we gathered for dinner with Jorges family from La Nucia, Spain. Perfect venue with great food, beautiful location and relaxed atmosphere. Special thanks to Patrick too.

10/08/2025: Ordered soup and Silver Tankard toastie and it was delicious, full of filling,ham,cheese, and toastefto perfection.Delicious.Soup mushroom was tasty but a bit on the warm side,needed to be hotter..Cost was very affordable, Staff very nice pleasant and well turned out dress wise.Hair up back and off face.

06/08/2025: This is a classic Supermac's restaurant that has a varied and tasty menu compared to the big rival that is currently in a trademark dispute with the owners. This particular restaurant in Gort, despite the small size, is clean, serves up the food quickly, and kids especially like it. It's in a great spot in the centre of Gort. Only thing is that according to the website there's no deliveries from here. Other than that, it's an excellent place.

18/07/2025: Had the good fortune to stop in Gort on our way home from Co. Clare. We were greeted by a very pleasant and helpful lady. My mam is on a wheelchair and she couldn't be more helpful. Sorry I didn't get here name. The food was fresh and tasty. Ww were served by a young man who was friendly. Highly recommend this place and we will be back again.

23/08/2025: The place is lovely, it's modern but has character. They have a new menu since the last time we were here and it's sooo much better. Service was great too. Even got to see some planes taking off and the search and rescue team going out in the helicopter. Bit pricey for what it is - €50 for two cokes, an open halloumi sandwich, chicken and waffle, plus kids chicken and chips.

16/08/2025: Had a great stay here! The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome. Parking was a bit tricky to find, which was a minor hassle. The town itself is small and quiet, not much going on, but it’s well-kept and charming. The breakfast was absolutely delicious—definitely a highlight! Would recommend for a cozy getaway.

08/10/2024: Favorite chip shop of mine over more than a decade of visiting Cork on occasion. With that said my last visit a few weeks ago ended up with them giving me the wrong order that I did not realize was the case until long away from the shop. Chicken supper instead of the Cod Supper that I ordered. It was still good but it sad that I didn't get one last Cod Supper before they shut down for good this past weekend.

10/07/2025: We stopped at this lovely spot on our little road trip around the Atlantic way, it was a brilliant find. It looked so interesting from outside. The purple building with the craft stall, and sign with frieda kahla. We had two dogs with us and we were allowed to sit outside with them. We were welcomed by the lovely owner, who promptly told us there were fresh scones out of the oven and she had made apple and plum cake fresh that day. We were surprised the menu was vegetarian, but it was not a problem. The food was absolutely delicious!! I got the cheese and onion panini and it had mustard and relish and was so delicious. The cake was phenomenal! I also had a mocha. And it was the best I’d had this whole week! The stall out the front sells the owners crafts, there is lovely adult and children’s clothes. I got a dress for my niece and an apron for myself. I can’t wait to go back on our yearly visit to Downings!
