09/05/2025: Great character and service. I ordered a steak sandwich which was quite different to what we would get in Australia.. more like hamburger meat. Delicious nevertheless.

Roadside Tavern
Lisdoonvarna
17/05/2025: Recently finished a motorcycle trip round some of the Wild Atlantic Way and this place was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. It was recommended by our hotel who booked us a table at very short notice which was very helpful as when we arrived the place was packed.
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We tried one of the beers they make in their own microbrewery which was excellent. For starters my wife had the chowder and I had the prawns from the specials board. Both were excellent. We both had the steak and ale pie, with mash and my wife thought the gravy which came with the mash was amazing.
The live music was very good (obviously depends whether you like traditional Irish music or not). What I particularly liked was that the music was at a volume where you could listen to it but still have a conversation.
We were so impressed with the whole experience that we booked a table for the following night. This was a good choice as we were able to try the Halibut dish which was on the specials board. It was absolutely fantastic. Not quite Michelin star but not far off.
The second night also gave us a chance to try one of the other beers they make as well as trying their own whiskey which is definitely worth a go.
My only slight grumble is that the main menu includes a couple of choices of wine which we chose from on our first visit however when we went on the second night we were given a full wine list. If you're going ask for the full wine list as there are some very nice wines on there.
A couple of points to note -
Book a table and get in early as the specials board seems to run out very quick. Probably because the food on it is superb.
Definitely try something from the specials board.
This probably isn't the cheapest place you can go but it is value for money as the food is exceptionally high quality.
I can't recommend this place highly enough. The staff were fantastic, especially Andrew and Bridie. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was so welcoming. We're planning to do the west coast of Ireland next year again and will probably have to plan a route where we can stop here again.
10/05/2025: Nous avons attendu au bar 10 minutes sans que personne ne s'occupe de nous, pour que enfin on nous dise que la cuisine fermait. Il était 19h50 !

Highlands Hotel
Glenties
02/05/2025: Modernised yet still traditional hotel right in the village/town centre of Glenties, well priced and with good on site food/bar facilities.
04/04/2025: Stoped on route from letterkenny to killybegs on a Thursday evening at 6.00pm. Couldn’t get over how busy the hotel was.
I had a fab chicken Maryland , a dish that is making a welcome come back. That come back is now, this hotel does it with perfection. My partner opted for the vegan burger and to be honest there are better ones out there but they have assured us they plan to make their own as from next week. We will be back to check.
Great clean hotel , staff were tuned in and switched on. Definitely worth a visit.

Kavanagh's Marino House
Dublin
31/05/2025: They should have a new upgrade and free beers more beers lots of free beers it's to hot so I like it cold inside they should make new beers like slytherin beers hogwarts drinks
14/05/2025: Have just had the worst fish and chips ever in Kavanaghs. I've been reading reviews from a couple of years ago and there not bad. Obviously you had a different chef then. Today was absolutely horrible, fresh fish shouldn't smell of fish, the batter was soggy on both the fish and onion rings, the peas were straight out of the fridge. When I complained I was told the fish was fresh in yesterday from Kish. I was told hake is always a gray colour, I've had beautiful hake on several occasions and it was snow white in colour and odourless. The home cooked chips were an absolut joke burned edges ,hard in the middle. Cmon guys 20 euro and not willing to make a concession for complaining. Our total bill was 64 euros, lovely bar man and nice clientele, but you really need someone who can cook properly. I won't right you off totally, but I'll never be back for food. Maybe even giving us a free capuchino could have avoided this criticism.

Brasserie
Waterford
01/05/2025: Great time when we have lunch up high with a bird's eye view of Dublin. The staff is very friendly and the cuisine is authentic. A real moment of relaxation at the end of the Guinness visit. I took a piece of matured meat with perfectly respected cooking and real flavors in the accompaniment of the onion confit with guiness.
26/04/2025: Good food, good service, good beer

Bakestone
22/04/2025: Located in Fota Retail Park, Carrigtwohill, Bakestone Café & Pantry offers a delightful dining experience with its emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and artisanal products. Established by Joe and Maura Carey in 2013, this café has become a staple in East Cork, celebrated for its all-day menu featuring high-quality breakfast options and a wide selection of Irish artisan foods.
**Ambiance and Service:**
The café boasts a bright and airy atmosphere, perfect for casual gatherings. The staff are generally friendly and efficient, though some visitors have noted inconsistencies in service quality.
**Food Quality:**
While some patrons rave about the delicious breakfast dishes and fresh baked goods, others have reported mixed experiences with food temperature and presentation. The café's focus on local producers is commendable, but consistency in food quality seems to be an area for improvement.
**Unique Features:**
Bakestone's partnership with Badger & Dodo for their exclusive coffee blend, Common Grounds, adds a unique touch. The Pantry section offers an impressive array of artisanal products, highlighting over 150 Irish producers.
**Conclusion:**
Bakestone Café & Pantry is a charming spot with potential, but it needs to address the inconsistencies in food quality and service to fully meet customer expectations. Despite this, it remains a popular choice for those seeking a local, artisanal dining experience in East Cork.
18/04/2025: We have always enjoyed our breakfast at Bakestone. We’ve been happy and satisfied customers here for many years.
However, today was different. Dreadful and upsetting experience here this morning. Went to Bakestone, as we have done for a long time, to meet friends for breakfast. We arrived ahead of our friends and ordered coffee from the server while we waited for our friends. We told the server that we would order our food once they had arrived. At this point in time another member of staff, who was manning the till, arrived and advised the staff member that there were clearing tables. We were asked to go ahead and order our coffee. This we did. At the till, an extremely rude and somewhat aggressive member of staff demanded that we return to the order area as we didn’t have a table number. We politely informed her that we were asked to go to the till by the other member of staff. She became very animated and very sharp with us. Her tone with us was totally unacceptable. She mentioned something about a leaking roof and she didn’t have any tables. We responded that we were asked to go and order our coffee at the till. The person on the till continued to be rude and very confrontational with us. We asked the initial server if we could speak with a manager. We were advised that the person on the till was the manager. We were then told we could sit outside with our coffee. We make the decision to have our coffee outside as advised and wait for our friends. We decided not to order any food and when our friends arrive advised them not to order food. We would go elsewhere for breakfast. Dreadful customer service and could not recommend this establishment. I can see from the reviews that there is a pattern of poor reviews here.

Foggy Dew
Dublin
14/05/2025: What great pub on the corner of Dame Street. Sat/ Sunday is a must if there is a band on, plenty of room to dance. Look up their site for upcoming dates and bands. Sunday used to be a SKA night and it was brilliant. Great selection of whiskeys. If there is one drawback, it is the Loos , they are down a flight of stairs 😲
14/05/2025: Always a favourite pub to visit in City Centre, busy but still space to stand and enjoy a pint with friends

Montenotte Bistro
Cork
29/04/2025: Had an incredible stay at the Montenotte Hotel – easily one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in Ireland. The views over Cork are stunning, the design is chic and inviting, and every detail has clearly been thought through. A special shout-out to Erin, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable – so warm, helpful, and professional. She truly made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Can’t wait to return!
28/04/2025: What a beautiful hotel in the City of Cork! My wife and I had a lovely stay. We really enjoyed the grounds and pool. Everyone was incredibly hospitable. Ken at the door had great recommendations!

Friars Rest
Letterkenny
14/05/2025: Love this place food and staff amazing 😋
10/05/2025: Outstanding food for the price. Beef stew was superb and portions was massive, couldn't even finish it because the plate was pilled high so asked to take home left over as it was just to good to leave.
Prawn cocktail was tasty and plentiful.
Looked at the breakfast served on the table next to us and again was huge.
Great staff, we asked for water, wheaten bread and mayo for chicken burger and they didn't keep us waiting, they brought it straight away.
100% recommended and will be back again!
