11/01/2026: As per almost all souvenir stores almost all the goods here are sourced from China as evidenced by the boxes outside the door. I asked the lady tearing open the styrofoam packing to please do it carefully as it was breaking up into small pieces and blowing around the roadway...
People have at this stage given up caring nicely for the planet and just shrug their shoulder, as this lady did, in a 'what can be done' attitude..'.(ie...it's already polluted so why worry about a little more')
Then she laughed and said "I'll get the air blower to it"...đ”âđ« and went back to further breaking up the styrofoam...and inside this shop there are so many Goddess, Love, Brigid, Save the Planet and 'we love the planet blah blah ' books on sale ...this place is totally profit oriented
04/01/2026: The restaurant was very busy today, and although the staff were clearly trying their best, our serverâa young womanâwas somewhat abrupt and impatient. I ordered the steak sandwich, advertised as containing "steak strips." Instead, the sandwich consisted of small, scattered bits of steak on a modest ciabatta roll. While it wasnât without flavor, the portion was surprisingly smallâperhaps suitable for a child, but inadequate for an adult meal. A steak sandwich should feel hearty and satisfying, but this version was more starter-sized than a proper main.

20/01/2026: went for the early evening dinner which was advertised when we made a reservation but after being seated we were told they didnât do it in january even though thereâs nothing online indicating this. disappointing as we preferred the food options for the early menu (which had chicken and lamb rather than the main menu which had beef and pork) and specifically rushed our afternoon plans to make it on time. then when my main of the deep fried brie came the green beans on top were stone cold
18/01/2026: Great food, but relative to other places we did feel overlooked by wait staff for refills and course changes. Took about 20 minutes to get the bill. Head server was visibly flustered and sweating.

23/11/2024: The reason it got 4 stars is the premise was cold on arrival at 6pm ( it doesnât open at 17:30 as stated on trip adviser )
I had the Chicken supreme and better half had the fish and chips. Have to say very tasty.
We were served by Anastasia who was very polite, moving us to a warmer position etc.
I recommend Nivana, but leave to a bit later if weather is cold

The Rusty Oven
02/01/2026: Returning customer. Very disappointed considering prices.
Chowder was a bowl of cream with a few pieces of fish.
Mains dish, Mackerel. A few peas, carrots that tasted awful and a Mackerel on top of a few potatoes. Really very disappointing considering the prices. Had to send the Guinness back. Rip off Ireland at its very best.

07/01/2026: Waiter profiled my friend (who was visiting Dublin from America) and accused him of selling drugs which he absolutely was NOT. Shocking and unprofessional. I wonât be supporting a business who makes outrageous assumptions about people based on their appearance and doesnât listen to reason, making baseless accusations. He said that my friend was seen selling drugs 10 minutes before in the pub when he had only just walked in 3 minutes before.

21/01/2026: I am not a fast food fan. Had to stop here late evening on a road trip. Very busy. Very clean. Staff seemed pleasant and efficient. This is part of a large service station complex. You get all the usual Supermac and papa John pizza as will as an ice cream counter and a shop and deli and coffee station.

11/10/2025: More interested in kicking us out than serving us. While we appreciate that the staff need to go home, being told the second you walk in at 8:45 they close at 10 then reminded every ten minutes is pretty poor tbh.

The building is full of character and located in front of the sea. You couldnât ask for better. Thanks so much, weâll be back!

Good location for the town. Lovely, cosy atmosphere inside.
The staff were excellent. And as for the foodâŠ. It was very good indeed. Everything we had was spot on. They even brought a candle out and sung Happy Birthday.

The riverside views are stunning, and the mix of modern design with the historic charm of the building is just beautiful. Our room was spotless, spacious, and had the most comfortable bed â plus that huge window overlooking the River Moy made it feel so peaceful.
The staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely went out of their way to make our stay special. Dinner at the restaurant was outstanding â fresh local ingredients, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive.
The spa was another highlight â relaxing, spotless, and the outdoor hot tubs by the river were a dream!
We left feeling completely relaxed and pampered. Highly recommend the Ice House Hotel for anyone looking for a luxury getaway in a serene setting. We canât wait to come back!
