30/06/2026: A quick stop in Virginia to recaffineate led us to stop off here. Good coffee and a proper selection of bakery items, such as you only encounter in a local place. I had a slice of coffee cake and my wife had a bowl of trifle, both delightful. Picked up a ginger cake to bring home, well received.

02/06/2026: My wife and I had a lovely dinner at Caragh Restaurant. The service was impeccable, the Guiness was cold and creamy and the prices were more than reasonable. The fish and chips were excellent, lightly battered and tasty. The serving size was large. My wife had lasagna and it too was excellent.

22/05/2026: Unfortunately, we can't comment on the food. We were seated, and although the servers checked on the neighboring tables several times, we still hadn't received a menu after what felt like 10 minutes. We felt ignored, and they seemed surprised when we left.

16/10/2025: Wedding Venue of our dreams!! Wow! I can’t recommend the Avalon highly enough! Laura is a phenomenal wedding organiser who listens to your vision and brings it to life! She feels like a friend straight away who is fully invested in the day! Peter and Laura then make sure the day runs perfectly, remaining calm and positive throughout! The Avalon is the perfect place for a private wedding where you are the priority for the whole hotel! They could not have been more supportive! I can’t thank them enough for the most perfect day! All of our guests loved it commenting on the gorgeous food, friendly staff and homely rooms!

16/07/2026: Went here for dinner and had a veggie burger with chips. Chips were hot and fresh and I liked the relish on the veggie burger, I appreciate that the burger had vegan cheese! Friendly staff and a nice drinks menu. I love the decor in the restaurant and bar. I only wish there were more vegetarian/vegan options!

13/07/2026: My wife and I stumbled into this restaurant when one we were looking to go to next door was booked full for the evening. I’m glad it lead us here. We were greeted by a wonderful woman who I later found out had been here since 1960. The staff was friendly, and the food was great. The cider was also nice and cold. If you’re looking for a nice local spot, this is a great stop.

07/07/2026: Advertised opening hours are wrong and misleading. States open till 10PM on Saturday but closed at 9PM. Get it changed or wait open till advertised

04/07/2026: I had a Spicy Phat Burger, and it was definitely spicy, but that was about it. Not a single slice of lettuce, tomato, or even a bit of onion—nothing on it except meat and cheese. And the reviews are all about the burger! I don't need to have it again, but the atmosphere was great and the service was friendly and fast.

16/07/2026: Great dinner! The stew was remarkable. The cocktails were very impressive as well. They had live music that was brilliant and not too loud as well. Great spot to stop for a lovely dinner.

05/05/2026: Im guessing this is a fair review. Be careful might be closed. This pub was closed due to death by owner.... Bit of a sticky situation we were told. But the nearby gas station has beer.

01/12/2025: September 2025 Coziest pub in Ireland that we stumbled upon on our bike tour. The owner was amazing and let us pitch our tent in a field nearby for the night. Can also recommend the café in the same building.

31/05/2026: The food was ok, nothing to complain about on that front, but the service completely overshadowed any positives this restaurant might have had. From the moment we sat down, the waiter seemed to be anywhere but at our table. He rushed off repeatedly, forgot basic requests, and had to be chased down each time we needed something. It felt less like dining out and more like an inconvenience to the staff. The worst part came at the end. I stood waiting to pay for what felt like an eternity, in a near-empty restaurant, being completely ignored, not just by the waiter, but by all the staff present. There was no acknowledgement, no "be with you in a moment," nothing. It was dismissive and frankly disrespectful. When a restaurant is quiet and customers are still being treated this way, it speaks to an attitude problem, not a busy-night excuse. The food isn't bad, but I won't be returning until the front-of-house team learns the basics of hospitality. A shame, because it could be so much better.

19/04/2026: Lovely place for food. Good menu. I travel with a very fussy ex-chef but even he is impressed! Never had a bad meal there. Love the atmosphere and ambience too.
