02/04/2025: As an institution already lauded for their humble chip, you’d think: “how could a chip of this calibre possibly be improved?” My friend, I have something to share with you: The garlic cheese chips may send you into another dimension. I have experienced a lifetime of joy in the 5 minutes that it took to devour them. I feel like I know finally what it is to eat Ambrosia. Have you ever taken ecstasy? Now you don’t have to. The Valley Café has your back, son. Yes, democracy may be crumbling before our eyes and yes, there are untold horrors unfolding all around us… But at least, for 5 goddamn minutes, we can fall into unadulterated bliss, lent to us by garlic cheese chips from this quiet empire of grease and contentment.

15/05/2025: We recently celebrated our son's christening day at JP Clarkes. We had a mix of adults and both children and babies for the meal. A set menu with plenty of choice and within our budget was provided to us. Absolutely everyone was catered for and the food as well as the staff were fantastic.

19/04/2025: Very friendly staff and great location only critique is Scone was undercooked and salad leaves very wilted and slimey. Great art and craft buts on sale. Coffee also good.

14/03/2025: Habíamos recibido algunos vales y decidimos ir hoy. No teníamos reserva y nos dimos cuenta de que era un error, por suerte conseguimos una mesa. Mi marido desayunó irlandés y yo el sándwich de jamón abierto. Ambos eran hermosos. El servicio fue atento y amable a pesar de lo ocupados que estaban. La gente se queja de que es caro pero yo no estoy de acuerdo. Este lugar está en un entorno precioso y el salón de té en sí es precioso y un poco viejo mundo. Nuestra primera vez allí y sin duda volveremos

07/02/2025: Friendly staff. Helpful. Nice environment. Large portions. Bit pricey. Quality of food was decent. Bacon on burger was very fatty. Side salad was tasty. Overall decent visit.

03/01/2025: My wife and I visited here on a terrible day two weeks weeks before Christmas. I've reviewed this restaurant before, do this will be short. The friendly server cleared a table for us, and we're seated in a few minutes. Food was delicious, served piping hot, sides of fries and mash were again delicious and piping hot. We visited on the day the heating was broken, but we did not notice, only the server told us. Coffee was again delicious. This is a beautiful restaurant, with good food and great staff. Can't wait to return soon. I'd highly recommend this place. Thanks again for another lovely meal.

07/05/2025: Had a great lunch at Sullivan’s hotel. It was superb and the service from the staff was exceptional. Highly recommend this place off the main highway.

03/05/2025: This is the most incredible find! Wonderful food, great value, incredible service and amazing staff. Top it off with an atmosphere of home from home where everyone is treated like family. We were lucky to find this venue so please please do not miss it, it's worth stopping in for real home cooked food and a heart warming chat with the owner and staff. Highly recommend!

03/06/2025: Spanish music is often played. I went to watch the Champions League final, and there are a lot of big screens and small screens in the basement, but the big screens have a lot of places where the view is blocked, so it might be a bit disappointing to enjoy a big soccer game. Guinness beer is about 7.7 euros.

30/05/2025: Has a very weird experience with the bar staff- we initially ordered a passionfruit daiquiri and my friend tasted it and decided to also order one. When it arrived it clearly was a different color and tasted like lemon. The staff at the table reacted polite and promptly and went back to the bar. The bartender then came over and said that we were wrong when you clearly could see that the drink had a different color from each other. Started arguing with me that he made the right drink. He walked away again and it took ages to get the second drink. We then canceled it after 10 min waiting for the cocktail to be remade and asked for a refund. (Which we got without argument- it seems like the floor staff is used to it) The staff on the floor was lovely however I would avoid it due to the bar staffs attitude

12/05/2025: Warm,friendly greeting from all the staff we encountered - and especially Lorraine - told me we had chosen the right spot for lunch on a glorious day today. Choice of food was excellent and what we chose was delicious. Our little girl is a handful at the best of times but everyone here was so patient and friendly toward her. Top class in every regard and toilets were immaculate.

16/05/2025: A delightful little pub, with tasty food, modest prices and a friendly owner (and his wife). A dish called "fisherman's pie" (or something close) was particularely yummy.

01/05/2025: Nous nous sommes rendus dans ce restaurant suivant les avis dans trip advisor. Accueil inexistente a l'entrée, et Accueil très désagréable à l'intérieur. Nous sommes partis immédiatement.

21/04/2025: Personal muy grosero y antipático, no muy acogedor. He comido aquí en numerosas ocasiones, pero tristemente mi reciente visita no voy a volver debido a la trabajadora anciana desagradable.

16/05/2025: Extremely bad experience. I’ll never be back again. I ordered French toasts without bacon and oat milk capuchino. The coffee is HORRIBLE, bitter even in a capuchino. Bad quality definitely. The French toast was a basically just toasted bread and was chewy. I have to pay €17.35 for the most horrible breakfast I ever had. I was robbed!!!! Never again for me.

01/06/2025: First time there, complete disappointment,we have ordered chicken wings , dry and small , we have got the beef and bacon burger and my girl got sick in the restaurants bathroom ,i got little more luck and managed to get home . Highly unrecommended place to visit ,toilets are smelly and anti sanitary conditions present Please people ,stay away, disappointment guaranteed P.s we sed to the waiter that we feel sick and trow up after the burger and will not pay , to which he replied that we should say it before paying the bill

31/05/2025: Met up with friends for a few drinks and a meal. Would not recommend this place to anyone. The food was just awful, It was like eating dried leftovers that were further dried by microwaving the food too long. I can't believe that there is a chief in the world that would produce this unpalatable food. Very disappointing overall!

13/02/2025: Well me and me Welsh pal arrived after a four hour hike up n back the stairway to heaven to be greeted by the finest Bar maidens I've ever met. Local legends arrived at the bar and were poured pints without asking. The Rugby played and England lost. Met a random asking me to go to Sligo with a drink bought and then the one of the barmaids sang without thinking....I wish I was still there n had me guitar. A fine place to be. The following day we did another hike n went back for food. One of the tastiest cooked all day breakfasts I've had.

24/12/2024: Just OK. Lighting in main dining area would take the eye out of your head.

15/10/2024: They have served me food here that's inedible. They have screwed up my orders. They have embarrassed me with an overly loud argument in front of everyone. They have even flirted inappropriately with my partner. Sure, it looks the part... but I live in Portmarnock and I don't even consider this place as an option anymore.
