29/05/2026: We just had the most amazing meal for my daughter’s confirmation. Our first time here. What we didn’t expect was the extra little touches. Personalised menu, a personalised dessert and a gorgeous little confirmation bag when leaving. The service was amazing as was the food and the staff were unbelievable. Friendly, attentive and nothing was an issue. Absolutely no hesitation in giving this restaurant a five star and also we will return and recommend.

26/05/2026: Always knew the food was good here but when we had a communion and confirmation lunch they went above and beyond . Food was fab- plenty of room even though the restaurant was full and staff were amazing. We had members of our party that were late! But we were never rushed or put under pressure. Made a huge effort of the kids with personalised Menus ( was not expecting that) desserts and small gifts celebrating the occasaion- would 100% recommend

08/05/2026: We were celebrating today. We choose Old House by an accident. I hope God gives me more accidents like that. Food? Absolutely divine. We had salmon and beef cheek. Salmon, was made to perfection well seasoned and lovely sides. Beef cheek was absolutely mouth watering. Delicious just delicious. For the dessert we had sticky toffee pudding(whoever loves sweet go for it blindly) and chocolate brownie both desserts served with ice cream on the side. Our waiter ( and I do apologise for not remembering the name- truly) was the most kind and cheery person. A true gem to the place. Well done. Will definitely come back and recommend. Good spot in Mullingar to eat, drink and relax! Ps. Unfortunately I only have the picture of the pudding as everything was so good it disappeared faster than I could snap a shot!

30/04/2026: We stopped in here for a drink and enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere. The Barman was attentive and the service was excellent. Although we did not have food, what we saw served looked excellent.

24/01/2026: Came here for my wife’s birthday, and we had an incredible experience. The food could not have been any better and the service was absolutely top notch. Pedro looked after our table and we were so happy with the service we received. What a great character. Thanks very much!

24/12/2025: We stayed in Powerscourt for a night away and had breakfast here. Oscar was an absolute gentleman and unbelievable service. He was extremely helpful and very polite and went above board for everything. He made the experience even better. Thank you Oscar!

27/07/2026: Went here recently after a trip with my brother , niece and her friend. I must say the atmosphere and vibe of the place is really cool and immediately we were excited for a drink and some food. Unfortunately the staff didnt exactly make us feel at home and the thing that was worse was it seemed like a quiet day with not too many customers but we waited 50+ minutes for our food to arrive.. in that time not a word was said to us about the wait or anything and mind you my niece and her friend simply ordered kids pasta with tomato sauce and we ordered burgers. When the food finally came we thought they were bang average for the price theyre listed. At last when we were leaving, no thank you no goodbye or nothing was said to us just looked at us leave, Im not the type to leave a negative review but this experience just left a bad taste in our mouth

26/07/2026: I really wanted to love this place because the idea of a dog-friendly restaurant is fantastic. As a dog owner, I appreciate being able to bring my dog with me and enjoy a meal together. It is a wonderful concept and something that more places should offer. However, I was very disappointed with the cleanliness and the quality of the food. I completely understand that a restaurant welcoming dogs may not have the same level of cleanliness as a place where dogs are not allowed, but this was beyond that. The restaurant felt very dirty — there were large cobwebs in the corners near our table, and the overall cleanliness was not acceptable. I also have a dog at home and I know it is possible to have a clean environment while having pets around. Unfortunately, the food was also a let-down. I ordered a pizza, but it was more like a pale flatbread with toppings placed on top rather than a properly prepared pizza. The chicken and olives did not feel well combined with the dish, and the overall quality was very disappointing. I really hope the owners take this feedback positively, because the idea behind the restaurant is great. With more attention to cleanliness and food quality, this place could be something really special for dog lovers.

17/05/2026: Must be new owner...this used to our favorite place to eat when visiting from US....prices, service and food all terrible. Even the sticky tofffee pudding was terrible. So disappointing....

15/05/2026: The environment and the staff were nice, but the food was absolutely disappointing. We ordered chicken and beef, and both dishes were served with vegetables that were barely cooked and strangely tasted like fish, even though we didn’t order any seafood. We found it very expensive for such basic dishes with very little flavour.

27/10/2025: Unpleasant experience. We waited at the bar for around 20 minutes without being acknowledged. Despite approaching staff several times to ask about getting a table, we continued to be ignored. Unfortunately, we decided to leave.

28/09/2025: The food here was genuinely outstanding... chicken curry with half chips & rice - as good as anywhere Ive eaten. Superb / friendly service also.

19/07/2026: Visited here whilst travelling round Ireland from the UK, the place is lovely! It’s a little Irish pub at the side of a caravan park, the night I went it had great atmosphere with live music (amazing singers), staff were rushed off their feet bless time ,as it was so busy the food was a let down, they warned us it will he a hour for Food, we thought no bother let’s drink… took 40 mins the drinks we ordered, my mouth was lot a dry flip flop…. We ordered new drinks at the bar only for the other drinks to arrive, happy days we thought….let’s drink 🍻 . hour and a half later…. Half the starters came, missing sides, sauces, cutlery and part of my order…, told the staff what was missing 4 times…..order a garlic bread, partners had chicken wings? was nice but both cold, waited another half hr for a curry, again was stone cold, as were my partners, kept asking to speak to someone but they were so busy, we gave up, at the end the start I was missing arrived, with no dip we’d been waiting forit was simply many people too for the amount staff, we gave up by this point, we asked for the bill but I had go to the till in the end even getting that was a challenge, I’d go back…. But not on a weekend, we arrived at -about 8pm so was late to be fair, I’d love to try their food when it’s all hot and accounted tor! avoid the weekend if you want to have a decent meal! Parking only difficult on weekends when it’s busy what I saw coming out the kitchen looked amazing tho!

18/07/2026: Have visited twice in the last week first a Sunday. We thought our food was beautiful. Good creamy mash with chicken strips topped with Tabasco onions pepper sauce with a side of mixed veg. 10/10 for food on this occasion. Service is friendly and attentive although slightly understaffed. I did feel for the two ladies serving us as they had a lot of running about and were under pressure. Second visit not so good chicken wings are not it !! feels like they’ve been plucked from a cooked chicken and refried to heat and tossed in barbecue sauce. Enjoyed first two mushrooms and then found them overpowered with grease from batter used to coat mushrooms. Restaurant started filling up with guest’s and the heat was unbearable we had to leave. Mixed feelings on rather we would return seems to be a hit or miss. Appreciate the two ladies serving us Thank you.

23/07/2026: The food wasn’t too bad… However, the hash brown from the full Irish seemed like it wasn’t fresh and the mushrooms were quite dire. The iced coffee was also made wrong - it was warm so I imagine the ice was added in at the end making the drink just watery unfortunately. The service and atmosphere is also lack luster. The lads serving/ waitering need to be a bit more energetic or vocal… maybe even approach customers as they come in rather than speaking at them from the counter or sounding uninterested. It’s not the worst place to go to eat, but there’s definitely much room for improvement

19/07/2026: Popped in here yesterday for breakfast with my husband. Fantastic little spot. Staff super friendly. Food was absolutely gorgeous. I got the scrambled egg and husband got full irish. Was absolutely delicious 😋 and a great price too. Compliments to chef. Will be back soon .

18/06/2026: We popped into MacsShack at that brunch awkward time where we couldn't deicde between breakkie & lunch! We each had a little of both and have left perfectly full & very satisfied after some very tasty food. We shared between two, a breakkie omelette, added some homemade potato cakes, hm brown bread was delicious, with also a chicken caesar salad, side of fries and 2 grand cups of tea! It set us up for the rest of day. Very friendly staff & nothing a hassle. Thanks a mill guys ✨️

11/06/2026: We by chance stopped at this lovely little restaurant, food was fresh and amazing , service was excellent staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome would recommend this place to everybody . Thankyou to you all 🙌

29/05/2026: Was only in this pub last night after the Ireland match and When I tell you my experience was the most unpleasant ever it would make it hard to believe. Looks like a nice cosy pub on the outside but on the inside is like a war zone between the owner and his staff/customers. The owner thinks it’s okay to give out to a young man helping him in front of the whole pub. Shouting at him to come in from outside and proceeding to shout at him about how to put glasses in a tray which he had already done. The owner proceeded to leave behind the bar and told the young man to take for a pint, after not hearing the owner the worker asked him what he had said and the owner proceeded to spell it out for him like he was a simpleton. I was really put out by this and so were many others. The young man was trying to do his best in a not so busy pub yet get put down in front of everyone. The Owner is nothing but a bully and the young man should leave! On the way out my mate gave him a tip in front of the owner and we hope it made his night

21/07/2026: This has been my late night chilper for the past 7 years, and they now have installed strobe and lights and atuff, and there's no turning back. This will become more of a dancing hub than Electric. The lads are so freekin great in there! Ask for a Quad 4, with the old chicken way, tell them I sent ya, it won't disappoint.

19/07/2026: The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food arrived very quickly, was fresh, and absolutely delicious. I was genuinely impressed and would definitely come back. Highly recommend this place, it’s worth every cent!

17/07/2026: We ate here in the late afternoon. The service was very friendly and there was a good selection of dishes. You could sit outside on a terrace. The food arrived quickly and was delicious, and the prices were incredibly reasonable for Ireland. We highly recommend this restaurant.
