11/11/2024: The live music was incredibly good: I've paid for worse concerts and this one was free and with great musicians and singers. The waiter's attention was perfect. I didn't eat there, just a beer and a couple of soft drinks... But everything looked good, apparently you should eat well.

28/06/2025: A great dining experience. Fast, friendly service from the staff. It was quite busy in the restaurant but food arrived quite promptly. A very enjoyable meal. We’ll be visiting again in the future

09/06/2025: 7 of us went for dinner here after our barge trip - #bargetrip.ie Service was excellent and the food was first class. Our group would particularly recommend the roast beef and the chicken supreme but there was a good choice on the menu, something to suit everyone.

17/08/2025: AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT – VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE A bad experience for a French group of 40 people whose menu was chosen in advance when booking. Before the meal, one of the group fell down the stairs (poorly maintained and slippery) and fractured their tibia. At no time did the staff show any concern. Insurance and emergency services had to be called for hospitalization in Galway. The manager's welcome and attitude were appalling. Several people ordered drinks, and the manager refused to allow each person to pay for their drinks individually, charging a total 10% surcharge for all menus and drinks. The information regarding this 10% surcharge was only communicated a few days beforehand, and only for the menus. The manager refused to compromise, even threatening to call the police while shouting. The bill contained several errors, which she corrected without even apologizing. Apparently, in a response to another comment, you stated that you are known for your outgoing personality and friendly nature, and that you are never hostile to customers. This does not reflect what happened at the dinner on August 12, 2025, and I confirm that your establishment is a TOURIST TRAP. The worst restaurant experience in Ireland. Please avoid any reservations at GEMELLES.

23/04/2025: We had lunch here on Easter Sunday. The food was really nice. Four of us had lunch different dishes, roast beef, pasta, and curry, all of which were really good. The staff were very attentive & nice We will definitely go again

02/07/2025: Visiting Dunlaoire and Dunphys looked like an authentic Irish pub. Unfortunately the welcome did not match. A young tall ginger slapped a sloppy, overflowing, unsettled Guinness on the counter and said that’ll be 6.80 and when I muttered, would you not let it settle he retorted, “do you want it or not”,I replied no and I don’t like your attitude (well I don’t like yours ether, he said !) and I left. (Wed July 2nd) Got a contrasting reception and a smashing pint of Guinness in The 2 Foxes.

27/06/2025: Came in for some drinks on our holiday with our 3 year old son says no buggies but they didn't mind us storing ours in the door way so long as it wasn't in the way. Great pub lovely old decor and great friendly staff. Had the Ambush Pale Ale was incredible with the glasses chilled in the fridge. 10/10 would get pissed here again.

01/09/2025: We were very pleasantly surprised by our dining experience here on Sat evening. We were a table of 7, 4 adults and 3 kids. The waitress brought colouring pages and markers to the kids as soon as we sat down. She ensured the kids food came out quickly and our meals were delicious. We will definitely be back. It was a lovely evening.

20/08/2025: I arranged my Mother's 70th Birthday here for Tuesday the 19th August and to say I was unimpressed with the food is an understatement. The Monkfish wasnt available from the menu or the bread and butter pudding the roast beef dinner on offer was a tiny portion and tasteless I will not be returning the pork belly was vile. There was only one server looking after us the poor girl was run ragged she did her best but she should have had some help they knew about our booking for at least two weeks beforehand. Out of a party of 19 not one person will return for food here

25/07/2025: Grabbed a quick cappuccino on the go! Yummy! Recommended. The seating is nice too, but we just didn't have time for that.

30/06/2025: We ate here on both of our evenings in the beautiful village of Portmagee. Magnificent seafood, I had hake here on one night and John Dory the second - both fantastic. We all ate well and had a visit from the friendly owner making sure all was well. As an aside, we also had breakfast here, again it was excellent. All servers were friendly, helpful and attentive. I could not recommend this restaurant/Balmore highly.

13/06/2025: We spent a week driving around eating at some really great restaurants in Ireland, but this one was one of the absolute best. An amazing surprise, considering the few choices in this town for food. Everything was done with fresh, quality ingredients and with a great attention to detail. Just a great surprise and an amazing lunch. Best brown bread I had in Ireland. The lamb shanks and the stew are highly recommended.

03/08/2025: Terrible service, 1 person doing drinks & taking payment. Not that busy but kitchen closed for 1/2 an hour. Value for money - 5 chicken wings for €10.50, you wouldn't pay that in a 5 star restaurant. 1/2 a celery stick cut into 4 strips & nit even washed. Would not recommend here to eat.

21/06/2025: We ordered fish&chips and chicken burger & chips. Very bland, did not taste much. Soggy and lukewarm chips. Sloppy leaves in the salad for the burger. Overpriced, not value for money. Service rather quick though and not rude as described by several others. But that is not reason enough to eat here….

16/08/2025: A very centrally located pub with a large parking lot. It has both an indoor and outdoor area, both beautifully decorated and cozy. The entire place appears clean and welcoming, and is toddler and baby-friendly. We were immediately offered a high chair. The food was also excellent; the garlic mushrooms were so delicious that we ordered two portions. The chicken burger was also great, as were the typical Irish chunky fries and crisp salad.

25/08/2025: Loved both the Lake Hotel and Lakeside Bistro. The location provides amazing views of Killarney mountains and lakes! Service staff was amazing! We had some jet lag the found us awake at midnight. The serving crew, cleaning up the day’s service stopped to makes us a fresh coffee and real cream tray to take back to our room! The food was great and the bar atmosphere was cozy. Only wish the actual bar, itself, held more seats. The room was spacious with great views! Highly recommend it!!

05/07/2025: Really enjoyed our meal. Everything was plated well and was delicious. Dessert was impressive. My wife ordered the tiramisu and I had the pannacotta. Highly recommend both. And you can’t beat the view!
