18/08/2025: The seafood appetizer was almost inedible, oysters tasted rotten. Lamb was good, but we couldn't enjoy the food after that appetizer.

24/08/2025: I needed a beer to wash down the meal. Cheap food, unfortunately, tasted cheap too. Fries without salt, cut too thick, not crispy, but a great quantity; burger patties are frozen, bacon was charged but was forgotten. The food leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

11/07/2025: I ordered a Fresh Cream cake for a birthday online based on reviews. It was BY FAR the freshest and most delicious fresh cream cake we have ever had. Hands down we can's wait for the next birthday to try the another of their cakes!

28/05/2025: Cannot head west without popping in on both ends of our journey. Love the good food and always find a ‘something’ to buy among their gifts. Like this one ! Brown bread amazing and freezes beautifully.

01/08/2025: After our tour of hook lighthouse we had coffee and iced cake. The service was friendly and clean and not expensive . Very refreshing to relax.

31/07/2025: Oh my good lord - the chowder. We came as a group of friends, did the tour and stopped for lunch. Between us we had the chowder, fish and chips and the open face prise sandwiches. Chowder - thick, packed with prawns, chunks of potato and fish. So flavoursome. Fish and chips - to quote my friend, “Oh my God, how do they get the batter so light and crispy and the fish so moist?” Open face prawn sandwich - piled high, lovely brown bread. I’m gluten free and the bread that came with the chowder was so good I had to check that it was definitely gf. Genuinely not had a gf bread so good in years since the epic gf restaurant in Pisa. And we lucked out on the weather. Sunshine and soft breezes.

07/09/2025: Used to be a fantastic cocktail bar – great drinks and a really cool vibe. The drinks are still top notch, but the atmosphere feels a bit off these days. Playing Pitbull in a cocktail bar doesn’t quite match the setting, and the toilets… well, they’re definitely an experience (and not in a good way).

20/07/2025: I go there on a sunday and i really enjoy it the staff are very friendly and theres extra space outside if the pub is busy floor is always nice and clean its kept very well i always enjoy my sunday visits

25/06/2025: I am a frequent visitor, myself and my family celebrate occasions and merely go out for a simple yet delicious steak on a Monday for around €20. The chicken and beef burgers are cooked beautifully and have an abundance of flavour. The staff is very accommodating and ensures the service is to the highest standard, which is pivotal in obtaining my consistency. The food is always presented with such care and attention, it reflects well on the chef who is providing clean, tasty and appetising meals each day and night. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a pleasant atmosphere.

08/09/2025: The Bishopstown Bar is always a favourite for our family but we had not been in a year or so and we shocked by the increase in pricing. The steak sandwiches were only okay. Nothing in particular to complain about but nothing to praise either. The scampi was a small portion but delicious! The curry was extremely delicious though adding chicken certainly raised the price. The pasta however was extremely oily, with a pool of it even visible in the photo. The garlic bread was grand and was used to try and soak up the oil. The staff were lovely, the checked on us so regularly it was almost annoying but to be fair it was a quiet night and there were not many other customers. Overall I would come back but I would avoid the pasta dishes.

01/05/2025: Second visit in recent months, but will not return. Served coffee in a dirty cup. The whole place is dirty, floor hasn't been washed in days. Windows dirty, table sticky. Overall very rundown. Shame

19/03/2025: I have had an amazing breakfast here a couple times before, but just to make it even better I went with a friend yesterday for some food there. I was only going to have a tea as I am on diet and can track food at home better. The ladies asked me then am I having anything and I realised I didn't have my morning omelette so I could gauge the calories in that so I asked them would they do me an omelette and they couldn't have been more helpful, they were like "as many eggs as you like" and they were throwing suggestions at me for what else i could have in it which was funny.. but i was able to tell them exactly what I want & so jolly. Where else would you find anywhere so accommodating. So helpful and warm and of coarse charming. Something that seems to be rare these days. Loved it here.

11/08/2025: I was there Sunday the 10th of August at 8.43am and the gentleman who served me, known as Lee Whelton was a brilliant worker, knows the running of the place and was so very helpful he was a star ⭐️!!

01/07/2025: Not only are their pints €7 but they don't serve food anymore and get mad if you bring food in from a local store. We were eating food outside on benches in their courtyard with nobody around and we had bought a couple expensive pints, we were then told food isnt allowed... But they don't serve food ... But they advertise they have food... But they don't serve food. Terrible. Just go to PJ O'Rourkes next door.

15/08/2025: Hi team want to thankyou for an amazing experience. My first time in Ireland and your hospitality was without a doubt best in class. The ladies serving always with a smile and polite. Had a Irish breakfast which had an amazing slice of black pudding which sent me to the moon and back. Keep up the good work. To all of you who read my review you will not regret walking in to De Barras. Thankyou.
