09/05/2024: A really great hotel restaurant. I had the seabass risotto and it was absolutely delicious. It was creamy but not too heavy. The fish was perfectly cooked and the whole dish was fresh and tasty with beautiful presentation. The service was great and the ambiance was really nice.

15/08/2024: We stopped here for lunch and coffee today and had the best experience! I am coeliac (gluten free) and Dylan went out of his way to look after me. He has a great knowledge of cross contamination procedures and fresh ingredients were opened especially for me, without even mentioning it myself. I had a delicious toasted sandwich and cup of soup. My husband's toasted wrap and coffee were perfect too! Our day was made by our visit to Sugar & Spice and we really appreciate the care and kindness!

16/09/2024: Based upon the reviews, we had high expectations of great service and food. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We had made reservations and were seated right away and immediately gave our drink and appetizer order. Water was provided also at that time. We ordered the Atlantic Prawn for a starter. What we got were 6 very small shrimp floating in oil and a piece of bread. I was hesitant to order prawns again from another restaurant but their prawns were in fact plump and very delicious. So, I know it was not the norm. My husband had the sole which had little flavor and I had the sea bass. The sea bass came in the form of two very small fillets with little fleshy meat. The food in itself was disappointing, but the service was even worse. After our order arrived, we had no other contact with our waiter. We finally flagged down another waiter and asked for more water that never arrived until we received the bill. For our second night in Ireland, it was very disappointing. Especially as we had wonderful fish and chips from a local pub the night before. Not worth our time and money, unfortunately.

06/11/2024: As per numberous personal experiences, best hope you are making payment by cash here or you can expect a rude confrontation from the owner/manager about giving payment by card should he be around behind the counter. It seems to me that he has not come to terms with the fact that, in Ireland, he has to accept payments by card the same as every other business establishment. I would think that only for some of his polite staff on the counter, this man would not keep an air filled balloon on a waters surface afloat. That microagression and dissident like approach to business has certainly lost this place custom.

27/10/2024: I'm embarrassed to have arranged a family get together. The service was practically non existent. Food was over priced and so bad. Smallest chicken wings I've even been served. Prawns noodle was so poor. Chicken Kiev same. I ate here a few years ago and it was lovely. What has happened? Don't go here. Super disappointing.

21/10/2024: I found myself spending most of my time for 3 weeks watching my Dad die at the hospital across the road while being put up at the Bru Columbanus charitable hotel. We were on a weekend break in Kerry when he had a stroke. This pub is inbetween CUH and Bru. For the first couple of nights I called around 10pm, still crying, for a couple of pints. The bar manager Paul didn't ask any questions, just served me politely and let me be, just as I needed. On the 3rd night he politely asked about my situation and over the next fortnight he asked every night about my Dad and engaged me in conversation that took my mind away from the awful situation I was in. A lovely man and top Bar manager. Slainte Paul.

04/11/2024: Expensive and poor quality €10 for a breakfast wrap, not including a tea or coffee. It was small and tasted very average. It shouldn’t be difficult to provide value for money and common sense in pricing, not surprised it was so quiet in there.

21/10/2024: Super delicious food, everything fresh, fair price. The children's portion would also have been enough for an adult. The staff was great with our child and was always very attentive. We would come back!!
