29/07/2025: We had such a lovely evening here with old friends. The food was spectacular. My friends all had seafood which was incredibly fresh and delicious, while I opted for what was the best pizza I have ever had outside of Italy! Could not recommend highly enough.

25/07/2025: Great service by Eve & Excellent food by Orla - Seafood medley was delicious, mussels starter plentiful & pizza fully loaded - wine menu good & our 8 year old Granddaughter had a visit with the cats on the Patio - hope to get back soon again - Thanks so much 🙏🏻💚❤️

01/11/2025: I don’t know why this hotel has such a low rating… The rooms were good… The staff were phenomenal. Sure it is a bit dated but that adds to the charm. I only request would be for them to add beans back onto the breakfast menu.

14/12/2025: Great food, generous portions, very reasonably priced even in this economy. A very diverse menu, there is something for every taste, including plenty for kids. My girlfriend said it was the nicest scrambled eggs breakfast that she has ever had. It was amazing to us how such a gem of a restaurant can be hidden in an otherwise unremarkable shopping centre in Ennis. Especially as it is a bit of a trek away from the centre of the town. Sherwood’s reminded me of some of the old school family-run cafés in Cork in the 90s that are all long gone, the ones that have been replaced by big chain stores, self-service delis and petrol station sit down areas, which is a bit of a pity. I fear that cafés/restaurants such as this are all dying off due to rising rates, inflation, automation, changing tastes and faster lifestyles. So I hope that this restaurant stays successful long into the future. The next time we are heading to Galway, Clare or Limerick etc we will be sure to visit 👍 I will say one thing negative. As others have said here, the staff are definitely a bit rude, even towards each other, which is the only reason I have given 4 stars.

24/10/2025: What a hidden Gem. Inside the confines of Clonroad S.C. Ennis, this restaurant offers a variety of dishes to suit all tastes. With a constant hum of chat and laughter from the well fed patrons to the rhythmic click of dishes this dimly lit space was perfect for lunch. Individual booths offer a modicum of privacy too. The attention given when I mentioned my peanut allergy was great and very professional too. When I came back the next day the server remembered me which was a lovely touch. Highly recommend this spot for lunch.

19/12/2025: I ordered a cake as a family present from The Courtyard Cafe.. It was ready and given on payment with no fuss. The staff were nice and good and I'm writing particularly because the cake was first class.. the price was really good for the top job that was done. I'm going there in future. Needless to say the Birthday cake was gone into the bellies in no time. People commented on how good the cake looked and it was tasty regards, Anthony.

20/11/2025: Stopped in for a vegetarian breakfast this morning. Best breakfast in town. Very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly. Only issue is the card machine is broken so need to pay in cash, but they told me that when I arrived. Would definitely recommend 👌

09/02/2026: On my first ever visit to Clifden which took place last week, we found ourselves popping into Griffin's bar for some lunch. I had the best fish pie I've had since I don't know when. Marion enjoyed a nice steak sandwich. Both David & John made us feel very welcome. Then a local 82year old mad entertained us with a quick dancing demo. Apparently he also recites poetry and you might even get a song out of him! It was a memorable experience and made all the better when David ran us up to see the Sky Road (if you get the chance to see it you'll understand why it's called the sky road.) I can't wait to visit Clifden and Griffin's bar again. Couldn't recommend it enough, thanks David & John.

13/01/2026: Food standards have really gone down we went for a sunday dinner and it was a big let down compared to meals we have had there many times before.

05/01/2026: Hotel is very well located in centre of the town. Refurb downstairs looks good, but some carpets/fittings upstairs were a little old & looked unloved. Food was good, and a few options to choose at the carvery. Breakfast was good, and plenty of it. Staff were efficient & accommodating. We will be back.

04/01/2026: Had this reservation booked for my birthday and I was left completely disappointed. Food took an hour to come out after starters had been served. Staff were a little bit lost, there was multiple people serving our table, even offering us a desert menu when dinner had not been served yet. My partners burger came out soggy and just fell apart while eating. The salmon meal was mediocre with the potatoes being served lukewarm. A lot of the furnishings in the restaurant were also stained and just not looking pleasant. Overall not worth the prices charged here.

15/12/2025: Vanessa our waiter was cordial polite extremely professional and a wonderful experience to our evening meal. A true assit to your corporate culture of excellence.

25/12/2025: Very decadent and impressive christmas dinner! We had an amazing time and the food was amazing. Will definitely do it again, highly recommend. Oreo coffee Cheesecake was my favorite! Fast and Friendly service too, constantly checking up if all was fine and food was served quickly even with a full house. Cost atmosphere too. 10/10

05/08/2025: You need a reservation for it. The wine list is decent too and the food is not bad either. Try it out if you are around. Staff is super nice and friendly.

22/11/2025: Sorry but, not for me, room small, extremely noisy, other guests arriving back very late, and could hear every sound. Went to boil kettle, to find it half full with dirty cloudy water. Self service breakfast cold. Even though cost is low, I still expect good clean basic service.

18/02/2026: Great breakfast, great welcome, great service. The interior is starting to look a bit dated, but still very clean

17/02/2026: Pub seemed ok, nothing out of the ordinary. The parking however is a massive pain. We spent 25 minutes in the pub, to be whacked with a £57 fine. The parking is signposted but says in large writing 3hours free for guests of the pub, and in unclear smaller writing you need to check in, which we missed. None of the staff highlighted this and we ended up paying £57 for the experience. We will now avoid this pub and other business and go elsewhere.

23/01/2026: The man behind the bar asked me if I wanted to pay for his “services” while rubbing suggestively low near his crotch area and when called out by a female member of staff he replied with “what else do you expect when there’s a blonde sitting in front of me”. Absolutely insane carry on and he continued to laugh in my face when I was clearly very uncomfortable. I would like to hear back about what is being done about this situation.

02/01/2026: 8 months pregnant waiting 20 minutes at the bar to be looked after, my uncles funeral and was spoken to horribly and told they were short staffed so there was nothing they could do but staff walking around chatting very bad service horrible staff wouldn’t waste me money here
