04/09/2025: I can't judge the quality of the food, unfortunately. We arrived at 9 p.m., after a long drive, at the Beaufort Bar and Restaurant. We understand perfectly well that it was a little too late to eat, but the cold welcome and the equally unfriendly response from the man behind the bar wouldn't have given us a good impression of the Irish... luckily we met some extremely friendly ones elsewhere! We're staying in the area for a few days... we won't be setting foot in this establishment again. Very sad.

14/12/2025: Great food, generous portions, very reasonably priced even in this economy. A very diverse menu, there is something for every taste, including plenty for kids. My girlfriend said it was the nicest scrambled eggs breakfast that she has ever had. It was amazing to us how such a gem of a restaurant can be hidden in an otherwise unremarkable shopping centre in Ennis. Especially as it is a bit of a trek away from the centre of the town. Sherwood’s reminded me of some of the old school family-run cafés in Cork in the 90s that are all long gone, the ones that have been replaced by big chain stores, self-service delis and petrol station sit down areas, which is a bit of a pity. I fear that cafés/restaurants such as this are all dying off due to rising rates, inflation, automation, changing tastes and faster lifestyles. So I hope that this restaurant stays successful long into the future. The next time we are heading to Galway, Clare or Limerick etc we will be sure to visit 👍 I will say one thing negative. As others have said here, the staff are definitely a bit rude, even towards each other, which is the only reason I have given 4 stars.

24/10/2025: What a hidden Gem. Inside the confines of Clonroad S.C. Ennis, this restaurant offers a variety of dishes to suit all tastes. With a constant hum of chat and laughter from the well fed patrons to the rhythmic click of dishes this dimly lit space was perfect for lunch. Individual booths offer a modicum of privacy too. The attention given when I mentioned my peanut allergy was great and very professional too. When I came back the next day the server remembered me which was a lovely touch. Highly recommend this spot for lunch.

11/06/2025: I took my father here this evening - to the Terrace - and had a great time. We had tried to book a window seat, but upon arrival there were none available. The wonderful front of house said he would do everything to help us. I had told him it was an early father's day dinner for my dad. We were seated in a non window seat initially, but within 15 minutes, due to a no show, he moved us to a 4-top, but made it for just the two of us. My dad had the Dublin Bay Prawn Scampi, and loved every second of it (his appetite can be off, so it was brilliant to see!). I ordered the burger (without pickles), but it arrived with pickles which put me off a little. I removed them from the plate and one of the hostesses asked if everything was OK (truly I didn't really enjoy the burger..too much sauce and the pickle residue was still lingering on the burger) and I just told her it's lovely but I asked for no pickles (I didn't want to ask for a fresh order bc it seemed ridiculous!). She came back later in the meal to say the desserts were going to be on the house - I tried to protest and say it's not a problem, but when the bill came, they weren't there. As a result I left a very generous tip for the servers. The desserts were delicious. Dad had the sticky toffee pudding and I had the meringue roulade (very sweet, but I had room after not finishing my burger). All in all the service was hit and miss (we were neglected a bit at the beginning in favour of the bigger, more demanding tables, and I had asked for a sauce top up which came after we had finished - but I understand they were under pressure), but the managers really stepped up and made it a special night. My dad, most importantly, has been waxing lyrical about it since. They also had a good selection of non-alcoholic wines for him, which was really refreshing. I would definitely go back again - and order the scampi!! Top top marks to the fronts of house...you made it a lovely evening.

04/10/2025: A great Irish pub in Adare. We were looking for music and a little nosh, which they don't really have, especially on weekdays. They do have music on weekends tho; however, it isn't a dining place. It is a bar, but a very clean open, comfortable space. Big Al took care of us - made a couple calls and got great Irish music...later a woman with a harp came by and joined our little trio of gentlemen! We had 24 people in our group on a golf birthday trip. Al was able to get a few platters of bar food (chicken, sausages, and fries), even though he said we could bring in food ourselves. The place was packed with our crew along with other locals and travellers. Big Al (he is very tall!) was taking care of everyone so graciously and easily. It was a perfect celebration to finish our 10 day trip..our group left the next day. If you have a chance to visit, say hello to Big Al with gratitude from the Americans!

19/12/2025: Myself and my partner now husband got married here in the Errigal country Hotel in Cootehill last Saturday 13/12/2025. I would like to start of by thanking Niall for everything he has done for us. Anything I asked and more he done. He is amazing man and very patient and looked after not only me the bride and groom but my family and friends to. Everyone that works in the Errigal are the nicest people I could ever meet. Very helpful, kind, friendly and are amazing at there jobs. All my guests couldn't get over how big the rooms were. Bridal suit was top class. The chef, thank you, the food was absolutely delicious. There wasnt a plate in the room not cleaned off. People are still talking about how good the food was. My band Temptations PJ a local man done us proud the dance floor was never empty. We all danced the night away in a magical ball room all done up for Christmas. Niall thank you from the bottom of my heart for making are day so special from start to finish. If anyone is newly engaged or getting engaged this Christmas please check out the Errigal hotel in Cootehill for your wedding you will not be disappointed how amazing the place is. I am so happy we choose here, staff, rooms, food ect was unreal. Niall thank you and your team for all you have done for me. X

23/11/2025: We had a really lovely stay here. The outdoor spa was our highlight. Meal, cocktails etc were gorgeous. Staff were all super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for an affordable night away
