The best restaurants

01/09/2024: Attended as a party of 4, and sat outside. No cutlery, starters arrived, no cutlery, asked and asked, One main arrived when we hadn’t finished the starters, starters were at the table circa 7 mins at this time. One main, with no cutlery again, had to go in to get this myself. Two more mains arrived 10 minutes later, no cutlery; asked again. 5 minutes later, the last main arrived. 3 mains were cold, especially the one arriving on its own, along with two more. The last main was piping hot. Ordered dessert, 10 minutes after, were told one of the items was out of stock, cancelled and got the hell out of there. I have relatives that have visited many a time, but my first experience of here, I’m willing to give it a second go, based on the fact it was a busy weekend. But just because you are seated outside, doesn’t mean you should be forgotten about, you equally as important to those inside.

11/08/2024: Great atmosphere, good food and very pleasant waiting staff. Take away options available also. Rustic pub feel or bright and airy function room for larger gatherings.

25/01/2025: One of the best kebabs I’ve had in a long time. Very very tasty. Shoutout to the chips too, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The guys working there were very friendly and knew how to cook!

16/06/2024: Our experience exceeded expectations. We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a wedding anniversary while on holiday. The staff was very accommodating and the food was exceptionally good and not overpriced.

16/11/2024: Siendo mi marido un Hackett, este fue su punto de la lista de deseos del año. ¡Créeme que conocer a Tommy y John fue una alegría absoluta! Tommy invitó a James detrás de la barra y le enseñó a servir un Guinness adecuado. Gracias a Tommy y John por hacer de nuestro viaje a través del charco un sueño real hecho realidad

08/04/2025: Me and my friends went there for dinner (the food was lovely), spent nearly 200 euros. When paying our bill the staff member was letting us know about what entertainment was on in there that night and told us to come. Well later that night roughly 10:30 my friend and her husband were the first to go to get our table. While they were about to walk in the two door staff moved closer and told them "not tonight folks". My friend didn't know what to do. She explained to him that they were in earlier and that they were told come bk, that a a DJ was on untill 2 in the morning. All he kept saying was " no not tonight, you're not getting in". They were so embarrassed! Wouldn't give her a reason, just kept repeating the same crap over and over! We decided to have a nosey on FB to see if anyone else had this issue with the door staff and wouldn't you know, there were lots of reviews of people getting treated the same way. What we think happened was that those two incompetent ****** heard their Belfast accents and decided that they weren't getting in! We didn't let it go, the next day we called bk to the restaurant/bar to make a complaint plus find out through CCTV why they were refused entry. 1. They weren't drunk. 2. They're both in their 40's. A married couple walking hand and hand. They weren't being rowdy. After explaining everything to the staff member on duty he apologised and said that those door staff are an outside company. He also said that the reviews on FB were all hearsay. Which we disagreed with obviously because my friends were treated the exact same. It literally ruined the whole vibe of our trip. We're not letting it go. Door staff get away with this sort of behaviour all the time and this place seems to be renowned for it. It seems to be a regular occurrence here! We left our number and asked the staff member to review the door staffs bodycam footage and to let us know what reason the had got refusing us entry after happily taking out money that same afternoon.!

31/03/2025: I had my son's 16th birthday in Rum house Dundalk...recently renovated and looks amazing. Everyone had a great time. The atmosphere was buzzing!. The staff, were amazing, a special thanks to Adrienne, who communicated with me so well, Ann, who always looks after us so well and the other waiting staff... especially to the lovely girl, I don't know her name, who was extra vigilant in taking photos of my son when birthday cake came out. I went for the set menu and house wine...the food was delicious and excellent choice of 5 starters and mains. The wine was also very good. It was overall top class and good value. Thank you Rum House for helping me make extra special memories for my son.

08/08/2024: Éramos habituales aquí hace unos 8 años y era uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para comer en Dundrum. A menudo desayunamos aquí. Avancemos hacia 2024 y en qué GRAN DECEPCIÓN se ha convertido este lugar. Tenga la seguridad de que su decepción también será servida a gran costo para su cartera. Tenía el pollo, que a un costo de casi 30 euros era un robo absoluto. Pan coció filete de pollo rebozado con algunas papas y recogió verduras. Sabor bien, pero probablemente vale la mitad del precio pagado. El resto de la comida era promedio también con menú para niños particularmente pobre. Al pagar la factura me di cuenta en la caja de que la máquina de labranza y el precio que me pedían pagar era de unos 10 euros más que el recibo facturado. Al preguntar me dijeron que esto era un cargo de mesa por tener siete personas sentadas y que podían "escribirlo" en mi recibo si era necesario. ¡Nunca antes había cruzado esta alondra! Desafortunadamente para un lugar que amamos tanto, no volveremos. Otra señal de que la industria alimentaria irlandesa se derrumba a medida que los propietarios priorizan sus beneficios antes que la calidad.

13/03/2025: Myself and my husband ate here on 13/03/25, I ordered the hot joint sandwich asking for all fat to be trimmed off the meat, my husband ordered toasted sandwich..the food was tasteless and the meat in the hot joint sandwich was full of fat and gristle, my husband complained about the food and it was argued by staff, staff got very confrontational and argumentative, most definitely will NOT be dining here again..

03/03/2025: Nice atmosphere, we ordered bacon and cheese potato skins to share and both had well done classic burgers - good was good. After checking twice with the waitress and getting confirmation that the Daiquiri is made with fresh strawberries- alas it was not - it was made from syrup and was a let down. Food and atmosphere 👍, cocktail 👎👎👎
