The best restaurants

28/06/2024: Called here today passing through the town, ordered the meal deal, 12" pizza, garlic bread, potato wedges and 3 cans.€21.50. Well I have to say this was the worst pizza we have ever had, the base was so thin and under cooked it was so pale, very skimpy on the toppings also, the garlic bread was so thin & dry and flavourless, the potatoes wedges some were overcooked and black, not a very pleasant experience, the best thing of the deal was getting 3 cans of Diet coke.

26/10/2024: Edit: Oct 24 Review gone down to 3 ⭐ high prices did not change but quality is terrible 😕 coffee is sour and ham and cheese sandwich is minimal. Had to disect it to find the cheese. The vegetarian roll tasted like cardboard. It's a shame. ------ Came in for a quick coffee and it was very good. Had a bit to eat it was alright got me over the line.

16/07/2024: The Natural Bakery is, as it says on the tin, a bakery, and thankfully its baked goods are, for the most part, to a rather high standard. I am particularly a fan of their Cinnamon Roll (seen below). However, the coffee is not always prepared properly. On two occasions where I have ordered a mocha, there has been an immediately noticeable discrepancy - the first such occasion, the barista making it hadn’t mixed the chocolate and the coffee, meaning I was drinking a cappuccino with a shot of nothing but cloying chocolate syrup at the bottom. The second such occasion, I found that there was simply no chocolate at all. These incidents were both quite late into the shop’s opening hours so I don’t blame the staff if they were tired.

29/09/2024: Pizza Max is located across the street from Tuam Shopping Centre. Very modern pizza place with friendly staff and good pizza.

16/09/2025: I ordered a birthday cake and Lorna really did exceed expectations!! It was incredibly delicious, very professionally designed and turned out to be a real crowd pleaser. Highly recommend ordering with her! Thank you, Lorna.

05/09/2025: I have to say, this bakery is an absolute joke of a place.I placed an order for a birthday cake for an important Birthday event on Friday August 29th with a. middle aged woman with blonde to grey hair..I gave her all the details and design of cake.She then proceeded to tell me it will be ready for pick up today Friday September 5th.I asked her will I ring during week, and she said No, that Lorna ( the one that bakes the cakes) will get in contact with me during the week by email.As the week went on, I was checking my emails to see if she was in touch and to see What time cake would be ready for collection?? So I. Presumed everything was ok but thought it strange I never even received an email from her(Lorna).So after work today,I went to collect the cake.I was told Lorna would be out in a few minutes.When she eventually came out she said there was no order for cake as she mislaid my email with my cake order.What really annoyed me is that she didn’t care, as she said she is only human?? Well I have never come across such an insolent person as this one(Lorna).I told her this is really bad service .I went around to the bakery on Railway Street ( Traditional Home Bakery ) and I told them my story and they offered to bake a cake for the Birthday and said they will have it tomorrow (Saturday) at 1pm.What lovely staff and great service?? I will definitely be giving them my business in future and staying clear of Lorna’s cakes. Give Lorna’s the biggest wide berth you can. Absolutely terrible service and very unprofessional.

09/12/2023: I heard at the Carrick farmers market about this Italian man serving great pizza in Ballinamore . We got 3 pizzas yesterday. Delicious! Loved all of them! Great taste and cooked to perfection. Well done Simone! From Imelda

27/12/2024: I had a delicious tofu and veg ramen here 2 months ago I told lots of people how good the food was so decided to get a take away for the whole family as a Christmas treat this evening. Unfortunately instead of the delicious ramen I got a bowl of boiled speghetti, bean sprouts and sauce. The spaghetti ended up in the bin. Himself had the chow mein which had no sauce. Such a shame, won't be going back. The free chicken wings were lovely though

18/06/2025: Food is nice but two major complaints: The service and service speed are ATROCIOUS. First of all we waited in a queue for ages to be seated with no one on the door. When we finally were seated, a waitress attempted to take our drinks order, only to find that she did not have her writing pad. We were then told that a different waiter would take our order, who walked off, only for us to be served by a different waitress again. After giving our drinks orders, we waited over 20 minutes forrrrr - nothing. That waitress then returned after us calling her over only to tell us that our drinks order never went through and we had to place our drinks order a second time. Finally our drinks then arrived. Similar to the other two occasions that we had previously visited, we waited well over 30 minutes for both our mains and deserts and second round of drinks, only to discover that one person had received the complete wrong drink AND the food request of no mash had been completely ignored - imagine if the customer bad an allergy - the dish arrived with mash anyway - despite clear communication from that person as to what drink they wanted and they wanted no mash, this miscommunication that had to he rectified which of course, in true fashion, took an eternity also. Eventually we got the bill after several attempts to flag down a waiter. Additionally, another portion of chips that we did not order arrived which had to be sent away. Service rant over brings me to my second complaint- the pricing. The bill came out to over €180 which is pure lunacy for four mains and desserts, and two rounds of drinks with no starters. I understand that this is a hotel in a somewhat touristy area so naturally there will be markup but not to an extent where a main costs over €12 above the average elsewhere. Now, I hope this review doesn’t come across as me being a miserable old guit who only wants to complain because that certainly is not the case. With that, I will now begin to discuss the positives. The staff were vert friendly and understanding despite all the mix ups and as previously mentioned the food itself was very nice. There just seems to be a lot of miscommunication between the servers and them and the kitchen, or the kitchen may be understaffed, there also isn’t a very good menu choice however that isn’t exclusive to this restaurant and appears to be a running theme throughout the restaurants in this area so I don’t think it is fair to penalise them on this matter as the cost of everything continues to rise for these establishments.
