25/01/2026: Amazing food, flawless service, beautiful restaurant. Left feeling perfectly looked after, pleasantly full and purely content. Had the scallop, venison special and apple tarte tatin. My husband had the special creme brûlée which he adored. Special shout to Niamh who was such a wonderful person and provided us with amazing service. Will 100% be back! Absolutely gem of a restaurant

31/12/2025: So pleased with this gem on Main Street on the Waterford side of Youghal. Just before Christmas after peak lunch hour, we went for a taste of what Red Store had to offer. We were not disappointed. Two of our party had the pork (one of the specials), one Thai chicken curry and one had the 6oz steak. Food came out piping, and was just poetry on a plate. Desserts of jelly and ice cream, warm apple pie and strawberry cheesecake followed. Pork was succulent but where was the apple sauce (small over sight) and the well done steak was a ‘good tender enjoyable chew’ but missed the onions. Thai chicken curry had a tickle of spice and just right fit portion of rice. The hot Apple pie with ice cream had a perfect measured level of sweetness and softness ( no tough crust). Strawberry cheesecake was not served as a slice but in a wine goblet with dust crumbled biscuit for base and a very strawberry moussy top that was peaked with faux cream. Service was friendly and there was a lovely casual atmosphere to the place with conversation at normal decibel level being feasible. At time of visit / local artist Pauline Neville’s works were on display and her nearby art gallery is very much worth a visit. Great showing!!

01/02/2026: Very delicious Bakery and friendly staff. Variety of selfmade Bakery goods. Can totally recommend this place. A bit more fare from the centre but there you can find also many other colorful shops and this wonderful bakery.

07/01/2026: Had lunch here just before Christmas. The place was so cozy and inviting and warm. I had the burger which was small and ok but not worth €20.95 the accompanying chips were just I’d say from a frozen bag and tipped into the deep fat fryer. They were fairly tasteless. My partner had the roast beef which was fine but we were charged an €2 for some extra gravy (a first for me anywhere). I would go back for a drink but not the food.

31/12/2025: The guy at the door said regulars only I had my son-in-law my 14-year-old little girl and my expecting daughter he said regulars only we were waiting for a meal and the Chinese restaurant upstairs. What is the guy‘s problem? Is it because I am Asian With black skin he don’t like foreigners I don’t know. Racism at its best

28/12/2025: Visited for a couple of drinks. Bar staff very friendly and helpful. Front areas clean and tidy. Back areas bit rundown. Toilets need to be attended more often. Not good!

25/09/2025: Excellent breakfast. Wide selection of sweet and savory options. Everything we tried was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful, patient with my parents, who didn't speak English and had trouble choosing what to order. We were staying at the hotel across the street and easily walked here since breakfast wasn't included. Recommended!

10/03/2026: Great little pub, just around the corner from Kilmainham Gaol and the IMMA. Service was exceptional. Our server was a lovely young man with longish hair and frankly should be given a medal for how polite and attentive he was even when the restaurant was very busy!

High quality dine in or take away. The standard of yhe food is wholesome healthy tasty goodness! The staff are attentive and excellent! Its a must if in Castlerea!

27/02/2026: We gathered here after my sister’s funeral service, and I honestly cannot put into words how grateful we are for the care and compassion shown to our family. From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely incredible. They treated us with such genuine respect and kindness, and even placed my sister’s photo on the wall for us - a small but deeply meaningful gesture that meant so much during such a painful day. Nothing felt rushed, nothing felt clinical. They handled everything quietly and professionally, allowing us the space to be together. The meal itself was outstanding. We were served four beautiful courses - homemade soup with fresh bread to start, followed by roast beef and salmon done perfectly, then pavlova and cheesecake for dessert, finishing with tea and coffee. The food was exceptional in quality, generous in portion, and full of warmth - and they kept bringing seconds and thirds (which was no small task with our massive Irish family!). There were plenty of gravy bowls making the rounds too, which certainly didn’t go unnoticed. What stood out most, though, was how they went above and beyond. When we began singing songs together, they closed the doors so we wouldn’t be interrupted. They created a private, respectful space for us to grieve, remember, laugh, cry, and celebrate her life. On a day that could have been overwhelming, they made everything feel seamless. Their professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail allowed us to focus on what truly mattered - being together as a family. We will never forget the kindness they showed us. Truly above and beyond in every way. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

30/06/2025: We ate here on both of our evenings in the beautiful village of Portmagee. Magnificent seafood, I had hake here on one night and John Dory the second - both fantastic. We all ate well and had a visit from the friendly owner making sure all was well. As an aside, we also had breakfast here, again it was excellent. All servers were friendly, helpful and attentive. I could not recommend this restaurant/Balmore highly.

13/06/2025: We spent a week driving around eating at some really great restaurants in Ireland, but this one was one of the absolute best. An amazing surprise, considering the few choices in this town for food. Everything was done with fresh, quality ingredients and with a great attention to detail. Just a great surprise and an amazing lunch. Best brown bread I had in Ireland. The lamb shanks and the stew are highly recommended.

26/10/2025: We had a wonderful stay. The room was spotless and beautifully kept, the service was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. Everything was perfect from start to finish — and it’s only a five-minute walk to Castle Durrow. Highly recommend

06/02/2026: Lovely hotel. 5/10 mins walk from town Coffee shop 2 mins from hotel. Rooms niceand big, clean and great view of the harbour. Big bathroom. Breakfast lots of choice, staff friendly. Pub attached to hotel and various rooms to relax in. Adam on reception very helpful made our stay !
