The best restaurants

05/04/2025: My sons brought me here for lunch as a Mothers’ Day treat. We were directed to a dining room which we could smell before we could see it: an overpowering chemical smell which made the simple act of breathing deeply unpleasant. The room felt like an overspill space - not the main dining room we were used to from previous visits, The decor of the room was so bad I struggle to find words - the sickly green colour on the walls, the random furniture to name just a couple of its problems. The broom cupboard left open with mops and trays of glasses (together!) on view as we walked in added to the impression of a little-used overspill area. We would have ordered a glass of something to mark the occasion if we’d been asked. The staff were rushing around, clearly under pressure and the food had arrived before we had a chance to order any drinks. At that stage we decided just to eat up and get out of there as fast as possible. Two positives: the staff were pleasant and the apple pie was delicious. Overall verdict however: depressingly awful.

01/06/2025: Shop very clean,deli on high standards, very tasty with the unchanged manu. Nice service.

30/01/2025: WORST SERVICE !! I had a very disappointing experience with the staff. They were extremely rude, and I couldn’t understand why. One particularly upsetting incident I witnessed was staff members making fun of someone’s from St pats, height in relation to their age. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Do your job BETTER

07/06/2025: Visitamos el restaurante el viernes 6 de junio. Nuestro camarero que acababa de empezar a trabajar allí ese día fue servicial, pero tuvo que consultar con un miembro más veterano del personal cuando se le preguntó sobre el menú. Cuando llegaron los platos principales se podía oler un olor muy fuerte a aceite de cocina del pescado el olor que dice que no se había cambiado durante bastante tiempo, el pescado no era crujiente pero era muy grasoso. Las verduras que las acompañaban estaban solo parcialmente cocidas, no pudimos obtener un cuchillo para cortar el brócoli. El filete en el sándwich era muy duro y el vinagre balsámico se había hecho demasiado en la ensalada. Mi comida era tibia. Nos quedamos muy decepcionados ya que la última vez que visitamos la comida era excelente.

22/05/2025: Tuvimos un día fantástico en Rathwood en Carlow con el Club de la Amistad Delvin. De principio a fin, la experiencia fue increíblemente bien organizada y agradable. El almuerzo era delicioso — fresco, bien preparado, y servido por personal amable que hizo que todos se sintieran bienvenidos. La zona de comedor era cómoda, y el servicio era atento sin prisas, lo que hizo que la comida fuera relajada y agradable. Lo más destacado del día fue el encantador paseo en tren de Rathwood. Fue un viaje encantador a través de los bosques pintorescos, contando historias y un toque de magia que trajo sonrisas a los rostros de todos, jóvenes y mayores por igual. El ambiente era alegre y festivo, y fue maravilloso ver a nuestro grupo disfrutando de la experiencia juntos. El personal de Rathwood fue más allá para garantizar que todos en nuestro grupo estaban cómodos y pasándolo bien. Fue una salida perfecta para un club de amistad: divertida, relajada y llena de alegría. ¡Ya estamos deseando nuestra próxima visita!

13/08/2024: Great spot for family outing. Took my three kids there for breakie and the waitress was lovely. Quick on the food being served. Friendly smiles from staff. Lovely calm atmosphere. Kids had pancakes and the kids portion was huge. Great value.

25/07/2024: Ballyseedy Cafe Carrigaline Very disappointing visit.I ordered soup and brown bread.....the soup was very tastey but I got 2 slices of brown toast.I told the young waiter that I ordered brown bread but he didn't seem to want to know!My pal arrived and ordered soup with white bread and got 2 slices of white toast.Its a 1st for me... soup and toast...maybe a good way to get rid of stale bread.10 other customers there...what a shame used to be packed.Wont be going back again.No manager around to complain to although I did feel she was keeping out of sight.

17/02/2025: Very good price for this quality of food. The portions are super good. The most amazing thing is the wine pairing, great price, careful selection, it is definitely worth a try. The environment is perfect for a date, will come again for sure

16/02/2025: Very disappointing. Spent 210 euros without wine/alcohol. We arrived at 7:00, first dish arrived at 8:30 after I complained about the delay. They told us two drinks were included with the starters, then they put it in the bill and I had to ask them to remove them as they told. They included the 12.5% service tip, which: first, I would have want to decide myself how much tip to give; second, how can you even force to include a tip after you know that you had a huge delay and horrible service like that? I found it extremely unprofessional behaviour which only tries to maximise profit out of customer. On the contrary I would have expected something complementary/free to apologise for the delays, not extra charges. Overall horrible experience considering a price of a Michelin star restaurant.

03/01/2024: The golf course is in great condition for the time of year, just a pity we could only play 7 holes as they rain started to come down really heavy but will be back later in the year for another round.

17/09/2023: A simple pleasure. A good Irish breakfast in a comfortable space, served by very friendly and attentive staff with panoramic window views across a links golf course with a ridiculously beautiful West Irish lanscqpe as a back drop. As a non-golfer, even I could very much appreciate the view.
