30/09/2025: Great hotel! Rooms were clean and seemed to have been updated recently. The breakfast was amazing and really well presented (see photos). Location was an easy 5 minute walk to restaurants and bars / center of town. Would stay here again.

22/09/2025: Staff at the Gateway was wonderful and friendly, and breakfast was excellent. Our room was good, with a nice comfy bed, but it was warm. We had to open the window, and in doing so were woken up by the lads coming home around 2am. We also heard a couple getting freaky in the next room, so not the quietest sleep. Overall, a very decent stay!

11/09/2025: We've travelled in Nepal a few times so we were attracted to this restaurant whilst visiting Arklow. So glad we tried it, fantastic food and service. We should have noted the servers name a really pleasant guy from Nepal. Belated thanks for a very enjoyable evening. We also liked the tables etc. Interesting to note many positive reviews one particularly negative. The negative one certainly not our experience. We will definately visit again if back in Arklow. Namaste 🙏

23/10/2025: The chocolate and hot chocolate was very good. In fact, the hot chocolate is probably the best I have ever had. Also, the Irish guy in the back giving out chocolate samples was great. However, the Eastern European blonde woman (perhaps the owner?) was a bit gruff and off-putting. Overall, good for chocolate though.

22/07/2025: Smells amazing, looks amazing, and you guessed it; tastes AMAZING. Well worth a stop on any worth while trip through Clare. Friendly staff, gorgeous hot chocolate and really reasonable prices for an ethical, bean to cup manufacturer.

25/10/2024: Excellent meal & excellent service. I ordered a rare steak & wow I’m a steak lover but this was exceptional. Salad, baby potatoes, sautéed onions along with a glass of Merlot. I don’t often eat alone but was made to feel very welcome & comfortable. Unable to finish meal but have lunch sorted for tomorrow! Top class, thank you to the chef Gregory and waiting staff. A special thanks to Silvane, she has the X factor!

21/10/2024: This was an unbelievably very good restaurant. Heading into winter on the West Coast of Ireland, the food, the service, and the atmosphere including the playlist was simply sublime. I’m not being paid to write this review, but it was probably one of the best meals I have eaten out in a very long time. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour; from the steak to the asparagus to the potatoes, bread and peppercorn sauce I don’t think I have tasted better.

09/10/2025: McMunns restaurant was our favourite restaurant on our Ireland trip! The food was sensational, could not fault it. The drinks, the service, everything was fantastic. There were 4 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Ballybunion.

27/09/2025: My husband and I enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal at Cullens, previously Cong’s theatee v The menu offered many delicious items to choose from. The onion soup was absolutely delightful, perfect balance of other vegetables along with the onions, which were the highlight. My husband enjoyed every bite of the duck conft salad. For the entrée, I enjoyed a very rich and tasty shrimp and lobster risotto. Scott was wowed by the sole which was deboned at our table. The servers were very friendly and shared the history of this venue. !Chapeau! Hats off to the chef! And staff.

17/09/2025: We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Marianna (hopefully I spelled that correctly) was amazing. She was our waitress and she made the best drinks + great conversation. I had the pasta with clams and mussels- amazing. My wife had the chkn. Everything was great, excellent and we had a great time. Dessert and the Irish coffee was excellent as well. Highly recommended. We stayed at the lodge.

20/10/2025: I had an absolutely amazing experience! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Ross’s singing was just wow. It really created a special vibe and made the whole evening unforgettable. 24/08/2025: I was very excited to try this place unfortunately it fell very short on the expectations. This was probably our only bad meal in out 9 day trip in ireland. We were sat at a very small table in the back where I barely had space to move back my chair to sit without hitting the person behind me I ordered the chowder and lamb duo, my husband ordered scallops and and a beef dish. Starters were ok. Nothing really wrong with them. The main courses my lamb was very disappointing, it was both overcooked and stone cold, the taste was also off like if it was made in the same pan with fish and not well seasoned. The beef dish was also lacking in seasoning, fat was not rendered. Definitely not a meal worth the price. We decided to skip desert waiters were polite but service was not the best, I did not get a meat knife like my husband did, dishes were very cramped on the table and waiters were having a hard time getting things on and off the table, very awkward.

07/10/2025: Wow what a great place. Fantastic value Irish breakfast for €12.50 including toast and a pot of tea. I couldnt move afterwards. Staff were very friendly even allowed us take our dog in. A big thank you! Great to hear the locals banta with each other. Obviously a local meeting place. Very busy place selling cakes and sandwiches too.
