The best restaurants

01/09/2026: I ate here during my camping trip and was very satisfied. The service was quick and very friendly. The food is incredibly delicious, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is great. In the summer, you can sit outside; it's a bit quieter in the back, or if you want to watch the sports broadcasts, you can stay in the front.

03/09/2026: For years I have heard of the Launch as the "dodgy bar with a doorbell", but one day I decide to go in and investigate this establishment for myself... And little did I know... I fell in love with it... From being able to get a good quality midday pint at a more than fair price? What's not to love, the pub has provided the best deal I have ever seen for a stout being three pints of Beamish for 13 Euros. Now that deal is no longer available, a standard pint of Beamish is 5 Euros exact. There are one or two other bars in the city which offer a similar price, but the difference is that the Launchs Beamish is a solid 7/10 pint. Besides the pints, the atmosphere there is exceptional and the bar staff are A1. It's a great spot to meet a friend, chat to a stranger or even have a quiet corner to yourself. The Launch has become my number one go to bar in the city.

28/08/2026: We were lucky enough to have Holly make our wedding cake and cupcakes and my goodness did we make the right choice. We met Holly in the wedding fair 2 years before our wedding and she was so helpful, so friendly and extremely professional. She helped us design the most perfect wedding cake and it tasted incredible. I will most definitely be reaching out to Holly for any event were cakes and sweet treats are needed in the future.

22/08/2026: Great traditional large bar with friendly atmosphere and a great pint of Guinness! Great for sports with large screens and a separate pool / sports room. Lovely fire when winter sets in to!

08/06/2026: Best garage food in Bandon, they have the best homemade brown scones and these are ready at 5.20am in the morning. I must say they were much bigger last year and getting smaller, but very tasty. The sandwiches and wraps are very tasty, well made coleslaw and potatosalad. They do omelettes in the hot deli and very good. Service is excellent and never waiting long. I would recommend 100%

30/07/2026: I’d like to add my complete agreement to the other positive reviews. This is a lovely bookshop with brilliant staff that do their utmost to help customers. If you are in Castlebar do drop in. They have a very interesting selection of books.

29/07/2026: The loveliest place in Castlebar, both the bookshop and the café upstairs. Staff is super polite, place is cosy and clean. Cakes and scones are delicious and fresh.
