The best restaurants

14/09/2026: Didn’t think I’d be leaving a review for a wrap but the everything (not sure if this was the actual name) wrap with smoked salmon olives sun dried toms and more was a taste sensation. Think it was around 7.50 which is well worth the price. Packed for of salmon and the rest. Ignore super value and treat ya self here.

09/08/2026: A quick stop to buy some local products. The salmon is excellent, and so is the cheese. Stop by! I'm going back tomorrow.

21/07/2026: The Old Deanery is a fantastic place to host a hen! Bryanna and her family were so easy to deal with from start to finish. They were really helpful, so organised and made sure everything was going well all weekend. The cottages were lovely, very spacious and had everything we needed. There were also great indoor and outdoor spaces for the group, with lots of thoughtful little touches. Bryanna was also a huge help in making the weekend run smoothly, putting us in touch with brilliant people for Pilates, catering and karaoke. Everything was organised perfectly and really added to the experience. I would definitely recommend The Old Deanery to anyone planning a hen party or group getaway!

21/06/2026: We booked the old Deanery cottages for my sisters hen party and we could not recommend this venue more. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with gorgeous quaint cottages perfect for hosting a hen party. There is also a fabulous barn, a wine cellar and an outside bar where we spent a lot of time! Everyone had an absolute ball especially the bride! Bryanna and her partner were so accommodating and really made the weekend so enjoyable! If you are looking for a hen party venue or a venue for a group, look no further! Thank you so much Bryanna!

12/09/2026: Kathleen was brilliant, full of local knowledge. Jeffrey the cat was equally impressive. Lovely Guinness and a great chat while waiting for the ferry after walking the island on a very wet day.

26/08/2026: A neat little spot right at the pier on Whiddy. One bust little spot on weekends. We had a pint and food one evening on the island. Kids dug into chicken nuggets, chips, toasties sambo while we shared fish and chips. Everyone cleaned their plates and drank up nicely for the walk up the. Super friendly owners and very welcoming. Would defo come here again!!

02/09/2026: Words aren't enough for how grateful we are to Stpehen & Stephanie. The tacos were just a resounding success with every single guest. They really know how to come in & feed everyone with no stress /hassle for the hosts. Top class service & food.

18/08/2026: Stephen and team (Tacoman) were phenomenal when we recently had them for day 2 of our wedding in St Mary’s Rugby Club and the food and service was second to none! All our guests have been raving about the food, I could not recommend them more. Ultra professional, delicious food and the whole experience was seemless! Book them for your next event! 28/08/2026: Excellent pub- probably the best I visited while in Ireland. Cozy atmosphere and the bartender was very kind and personable. Would return.

03/07/2026: Doesn't do food. A very traditional bar, don't go if you like loud music and plastic. The premises comprise of a one half shop, one half bar/ lounge. They do have a TV but it wasn't on when we visited , radio playing. Lots of old fashioned pub trinkets behind the bar , and historical pictures on the walls. Lovely local people to chat to. Sit at the bar and enjoy the lost art of conversation,with a lovely pint of Guinness at very reasonable prices. If you want a good craic, this is the place to go.

22/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mars Pizza is the kind of place you discover once and keep coming back to. 🍕✨ The food speaks for itself fresh, full of flavour and made with real attention to quality. Everything feels worth the money, but what truly stands out is the welcoming service and the way customers are treated🙂 It’s refreshing to find a takeaway that gets both taste and hospitality right. A well-deserved five stars and definitely a hidden gem in Athboy. ❤️

16/07/2026: We just wanted to quickly grab something for the kids and were absolutely surprised and delighted. Great pizza and wraps at fantastic prices. The guy in charge of the pizza was also very friendly and created a really positive atmosphere. There aren't any seats, but you can find a spot in the shopping center.

Every dish was beautifully balanced and executed to perfection. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and refined, and the front-of-house staff provided seamless, welcoming service throughout the night. A truly top-tier dinner!

15/05/2026: Extraordinary. All local produce makes you feel great from the offset. The right amount of fancy. The beef im still thinking about and will still think about the flavour for quite some time. Melt in mouth type of stuff. Service was fantastic too, shout to Paul.
