20/07/2026: We had an absolutely fabulous time at Bastion with their tasting menu! Every single course was delicious, inventive, and unique to anything we’ve tried before. The service was top notch, Helen was so welcoming and helpful with her recommendations as she guided us along our tasting journey. We’ve been to multiple Michelin restaurants and I honestly would put the food and service against any of them. Throughly enjoyed everything all the way through the “sweet treats” at the end. Only one caveat, it is a long tasting with the 8 courses stretching over 2.5 hours, but every dish kept us wanting more.

13/05/2026: We came for the set menu on a weekday and the restaurant was relatively quiet. Overall I enjoyed the meal and my personal favourite was the langoustine course, which was light and the langoustine was super fresh. The courses that I didn’t enjoyed was the fish with the prawn broth (v salty) and the main paired with the beetroot sauce and Szechuan pepper - somehow it over complicates the dish and the combination don’t work. One of the course was a round croissant served with some beautiful Irish butter - but again I’m happy with a simple good warm bread that could highlight the flavour of the butter .. instead of putting butter on a croissant that’s already made with a lot of butter.

01/07/2026: Service was excellent. Food was excellent. It stood up to the name that the area is known for. I was shocked at the affordability too because portions were generous. The service was brilliant, well trained and well able. Guinness wasn't up to tap but I am assured by local friends that this was an anomaly.

22/07/2026: We went on our Date night too see what the two courses for €30 special would be like but there was nothing on the options that tickeled our fancy. However we were pleasantly surprised to find a steak on the stone special at €30 per person and we decided to run with that. The steak was absolutely delicious and was served with house chunky chips and mushroom and pepper sauce. It was served on a massive platter plate and was the best steak we have had in a long time. The staff were all really friendly and knew the menu inside out. We had Chicken wings to start whick were massive and a shared chocolate Fondant for dessert. The place was very busy for a Tuesday night and this gives an indication of how lovely overall the atmosphere is. And as Arnie says..Ill be back.

11/07/2026: The seabass and steak was absolutely outstanding — perfectly cooked, delicately seasoned, and incredibly fresh. A genuinely impressive plate of food and easily one of the best seabass and steak dishes we've had in Ireland. Best chef ever. Thank you

11/07/2026: In the centyof town a traditional cafe which is very popular. Had a short wait for a table of 4 but no more than 5 minutes. Staff are friendly and the service was quick. Ideal for a quick bite to eat. Prices are very reasonable. Worth a visit.

20/07/2026: First time here, nice feel and vibe, seated almost instantly. Order taken 2 minutes later. 5 mins and food arrives. Lamb stew. It was delicious. Will definitely be back.

16/07/2026: We celebrated our wedding at the Findlater and it couldn't have been more perfect! Louise was an amazing help through the entire planning process, answering all of our questions, no matter how silly. The staff, food, drinks, and atmosphere were all amazing! There is truly nothing I would've changed. We hope to come and visit again in the future! <3

11/07/2026: Inconsistent Very small portion of chips served on the fish and chips .Thats ok till 3 other tables around you are served the same dish with double the size portion . Seems that kids portion of fries is what we got judging by the kid beside us. Waiter just shrugged his shoulders and walked off . Would have expected better . Left still hungry. Disappointing . Chef should have more consistency. Understand if busy but it wasn’t.

02/06/2026: Tourist trap. Unless you're on a guided tour, avoid this place. The service was meh, the food was ok, but the price you pay is exorbinant.

18/06/2026: Such a lovely local pub with a great atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and always up for a chat. The food is fantastic all the time. And the pints are amazing as well.

28/06/2026: Amazing food, amazing service, our server was so lovely and absolutley amazing with our picky eater kids! Really good value and such a beautiful place. My toddler who wont eat any food finished the whole bowl of soup, that is a miracle!!! We will defiently be back for lots of soup for him 🥰 Highly reccommend!

22/07/2026: A very charming family business with excellent quality and friendly service. Definitely recommended in Castledermot – well worth a detour! We came to Castledermot from Duckett Grove to see the Roundtower and the Abbey.
